Jie Zheng vs Jill Craybas
Anna Chakvetadze vs (5)Lindsay Davenport
(3)Nadia Petrova vs Bye
Sofia Arvidsson vs Q
Ana Isabel Medina vs Marion Bartoli
Lourdes Dominguez-Lino vs (6)Jelena Jankovic
(4)Nicole Vaidisova vs Bye
Ai Sugiyama vs Q
Shuai Peng vs Catalina Castano
Gisela Dulko vs (8)Maria Kirilenko
(2)Svetlana Kuznetsova vs Bye
Zi Yan vs Q
Elena Vesnina vs Emma Laine
Q vs(7) Na Li
LDF - September 16, 2006 01:37 PM (GMT)
Thanks for posting the draw Dav :)
Chakvetadze could be a tricky opening match for Lindsay, so she'll need to be sharp. Should she meet Amelie in the QFs (who herself has a difficult 2nd round against Zvonareva), I'd give Lindsay the edge, purely because she's so dominant in their H2H, and it's a hard court.
Petrova seems to be slowly regaining her form, so it'll be an interesting match against Jankovic. Kirilenko has a good draw against the out-of-form Dulko, but I don't see her getting past Vaidisova in the QFs. The bottom quarter is arguably the weakest, though Li could take out Kuznetsova if she reproduces the form she showed at Wimbledon and against Pierce at the US Open.

Nice assessment LDF :) I agree about Chakvetadze, Linds will need to be focused from the off, Beijing will be a big step up from Bali (although every event is a step up from Bali, let's face it ), I'm nevous about MoMo, I just keep thinking that Amelie is due a win, it could come here if Linds goes into this event with today's form...
It'll be interesting to see if Jankovic can continue her great form, her and Sveta are the two to watch elsewhere in the draw, hopefully Lindsay can have a better week here :)

Relax Dav, just because Amelie can outlast a wheezy Serena in the third doesn't mean she's going to beat a fit Lindsay
Saying that though, Lindsay will have to be serving a lot better than at Bali from the outset.

I hope she takes out mauresmo, i lost a little respect for her game after she lost so abysmally to Maria in the Open semis. to lose two sets 0 and 0 in a major semi is just bizarre quite frankly
Lindsay needs to serve better, she's always vulnerable to being moved around the court when that serve isnt firing.
