I like Mo, but   Sharapova!

Watch out Justine! Maria's coming for ya! She's beaten Kim - a player she could never beat, Momo - a player she lost 3 straight matches to, and now she's coming to get you!

Sharapova gave MoMo two bagels :yikes: She was hitting running shots beautifully yesterday

Maria will take some stopping to win the title... I wonder if JHH can rise to the challenge??

I have to admit,,Just watching Justine in the first set made sick to the pits... I really do think for a certainty , when you put excessive pressure on her...her body just goes haywire.
To add insult to injury...what on this green earth was Mauresmo thinking. How can she outslug..the queen of base line sluggers. I believe she now thinks she has some mental ' balls' to put it mildly, but that is not her style of game. She must have left her brains inthe locker room.
You used to come to the net so beautifully and against sharapova.. you will bet your life on it, coming to the net is really really important. I was just  stoned watching them play.
Sharapova, what can I say  :ok: , when that forehand machine was working, everything else was clockwork. To say she mauled Mauresmo was an understatement, the girl was hitting baseline winners from OUTSIDE :yikes: the base line.
Mauresmo was simply served .. two hard dry, crusty bagels, and a rather fortunate, complimentry french fries in the second set. roflmao no french entrees,,nothing... :(
Against Justine, I am a bit iffy now. If Justine appears with her sick self,, all nervous, a mauling and roasting will be most appropriate...I hope she watches the game with Amelie. Surely, sharapova's grizzly deed must be spreading around the flushing meadows. Mentally, all being equal, they are both well matched. So I will still leave it to nerves, but I have to say that so called 'semipova' wants to win like :yikes: mad...and lay that name to rest.!
By the way, did anyone else notice that she looked a bit heavyset. I mean she hasn't gained fat weight, but she look less skinny. I thought it was my tv..but I just bought the cursed..sony thing a few months back... :) , maybe I'm still stoned.. :D

MoMo made some comments after the match and It hink she is trying to say that she was not all there mentally, and did not achieve her game plan as she wanted to . I get the impression she wasn't thinking straight, she says she did not feel good and wasn't lucid. She also feels the errors made the difference - sh emade lots, Maria's made few.
Anyone see it and want to giv eme an analysis of what went wrong for MoMO?
LDF? dl? :D

Hi SB :D
Amelie just couldn't get in control of the points in either the first or the second sets. Maria was overpowering her on both wings, pinning Amelie behind the baseline and forcing her into a more defensive mode. Maria was simply too consistent with her ballstriking for Amelie to take any initiative in the rallies. That said, Amelie's forehand was pretty poor to begin with, so Maria wisely concentrated on that stroke. Her first serve % wasn't high enough either, and we all know how Maria likes to pounce on second serves (in fact, Amelie only won 32% of points on her second serve throughout the entire match).
In the second set, Amelie picked up her game, coming to the net more often and moving the ball around the court much better. She managed to win a few more cheap points on serve, and her forehand improved. Maria's level marginally dropped and Amelie took advantage.
The third set, however, reverted back to the style of play we saw in the opening set. Maria was the one attacking, and wasn't missing much. Amelie's forehand faltered again, and eventually her unforced errors (38 in total, to just 10 winners) did her in.

Thanks LDF :) :ok: I heard some of it on the radio but I feel asleep as I was so tired, at one set all. It wasn't that easy to work out what was goin on as those two commentators were talking about soem player's wedding and ad breaks interupt the flow. I have to say they were hardly analytical on USO radio. Oh and then the transmission breaks down now and again! roflmao Nightmare for MoMo then :( Sound liek MAria was plyign really weell though and took advantage of MoMo's erros and general poor form on the day.
Yes anyway that explains a lot! Very clear analysis as always, LDF you are a wasted talent. You'd do better on USO radio than that Bill Mountford or whoever it was. :D
