Title: F1 thread...
sir matchstickmen - September 8, 2006 09:19 AM (GMT)
A bit late this season for it, but there are four races to go and Alonso is just 12 points ahead of Schumacher.
It's gonna be a tight old finish, especially as Schumacher is in the faster car!
I'm part of a pretty good tipping site for F1 races - all free of charge! I just wondered if anybody else fancied setting up a CC league on the site for next season?
Depends if you like F1 really roflmao

Hi alli :D
I can't be bothered with half of the guys over there - I was a bit staggered by the cynicism shown towards F1 by certain members!
anyway this thread should be fine! :D
sir matchstickmen - September 10, 2006 06:19 PM (GMT)
Dramatic race at Monza today - Schumacher wins, Alonso has an engine blowout so the lead is just 2 points in Alonso favour now!
Then Schumacher tearfully announces his retirement at the end of the season, and Ferrari announce Raikkonen is his replacement!

Now , being that SChumi and Alonso are tied after China.........
Who do you think is going to take... :) ???
I like Alonso's chances...in the end he should comeout smelling like roses.
Simply because whenever Alonso failed to do well , it wasn't because the others were way better, it is usually technical or team mistakes.......
Schumi is dangerous simply because he is way too experienced and sometimes patience is really what it takes. Plus, you can tell by the smirks on his face that, this dude will like to go out in a blaze of glory :) He is very opportunistic and strikes brilliantly.
Regardless, I will give the manufacturer's title to Renault.. The remaining circuits favors renault . Massa is not as good on those circuits as Schumi or Alonso and Fisichela.
This is actually a tricky sport to predict sometimes; as the weather and other miniscule factors can so dramatically change the complexion of any race.
I will stick to tennis....but my thoughts are with Alonso. :)
Mkkreuk - October 1, 2006 12:29 PM (GMT)
i think (and hope) that Michael will take the title and Ferrari will take the constructors championships
has it ever been this close with 2 races to go? :o
safc_fan89 - October 1, 2006 04:51 PM (GMT)
It has...in 1998, Schumacher and Hakkinen were both on 80 points with 2 rounds left. Hakkinen ended up winning the last 2 races after a mid-season stutter.
I hope Alonso can do the same!
sir matchstickmen - October 2, 2006 08:57 AM (GMT)
I'm just gonna have one quick post on here after another dramatic GP yesterday morning!
The championship has pushed itself very close many times - in 94 Schumacher infamously crashed into Damon Hill in the last race to prevent Damon scoring the points to win the title, with Schumi winning it by 1 point!
In 97 there was a dramatic last race conclusion, this time Schumacher vs. Villeneuve. Schumacher again tried to crash into his rival, only this time to get it wrong and put himself out while only slightly damaging villenueves car, who managed to finish and win the title.
I wonder if this pattern will continue at the last race in Brazil?
I'm backing Alonso for sure, what happened to him at Monza was bang out of order and for me showed a little bias towards Ferrari from the Authorities.
safc_fan89 - October 2, 2006 01:48 PM (GMT)
It's definitely going down to the wire, but I don't think it will be resolved by a collision. Alonso could have quite easily ploughed into Schumacher at one point during the race yesterday but didn't. He's a fair racer. Whatever happens it should be a thrilling end to the season. And hopefully the FIA won't interfdere again :D

I'm not questioning whether Alonso is a fair racer - it's Schumi! roflmao
COME ON FERNANDO!!! :D

safc_fan89 - October 6, 2006 05:10 PM (GMT)
I'm not sure what Alonso is trying to achieve by all his outbursts...he must have forgotten that next season he is at Mclaren...Ron Dennis would not take kindly to such outbursts. At first I didn't mind that Schumacher was retiring but now I wish he wasn't...his and Alonso's rivalry is getting pretty intense.
chairman - October 6, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
I was thinking the same, at first it was shumi acting like he was bonkers but now Alonso has lost his cool, but the guy has got guts and talent though. He should defo leave renault thier mistakes are not doing him good. The engineers are arguably crap. Isnt the new brit Kid going to Mcclaren soon too. He could learn alot of good stuff from Alonso, well apart from the mouthing.
safc_fan89 - October 7, 2006 11:17 AM (GMT)
Hamilton would be the ideal number 2 driver. De La Rosa is not good enough and Paffett I don't think has ever been in the running. With an intensive pre-season of testing, Hamilton would be ready driving-wise. Whether he would be ready to cope with the inevitable pressure, no-one can say but himself.
Alonso's bitching is actually making things more interesting, so I say long may it continue!
chairman - October 7, 2006 04:10 PM (GMT)
Provieded Alonso knows the limit it is fine. I dont like what Massa did today he deserves a slap of a penalty. Seems like he has been taking a few lessons from shumi. Anyway we will know tomorrow, I hope renault dont do another cock up.
Brakkus - October 8, 2006 12:38 AM (GMT)
Looks like the bridgestones of schumi are superior, can't see Alonso catching him in the race.Podium place at best, and that would leave Michael in the box seat come the last race.
Only retirement could spoil Schumi's day,but how often do you see a ferrari retire these days?

I'll tell you,they retired today.
I hate that when your prediction just goes horribly wrong.
Here's another "Fernando Alonso-World Champion"
welshboy91 - October 8, 2006 07:59 AM (GMT)
Alonso only needs 1 point to retain the championship :yahoo:

too tired to shake..but i was mighty pleased... :yahoo:
I was a bit worried for Alonso, cause I was thinking he pushed his car too hard the last race so he might blow up here. You know you cant change engines....
I was soooo happy to see Schumi puff puff...
but alonso has to be careful and finish it..in the final race... this is to see him through...
Pebs - October 8, 2006 10:12 AM (GMT)
hmmm.... wonder who Ferrari will pay to take out Alonso next race then? Clearly Schumi cant do it himself - he needs to win....

Massa or (shock Horror) Fisichella, after all Fisi is Italian and Fernando slagged him off with the rest of the team roflmao
I am soooooo happy! :yahoo:
chairman - October 8, 2006 07:04 PM (GMT)
I dont understand why you are happy for Ferrari. Alonso seems to have the driver championships in the bag and renault seems to be on top of thier game. Shumi should thank God he came close due to Alonso's crashing.

Next season should be a cracker as well. Even minus Schumacher, Michelin, Cosworth, Suzuka, Imola, Montoya and Villeneuve.
