It seems an appropriate time to post your comments on Andre and his part in tennis over the last 20 years.

What I find most remarkable is how he had a huge slup in form and then climbed the rankings again through sheer determination and application, playign challengers etc. I think his work ethic was superb, it was that and his ttal dedication that enabled him to revive his career and have such a long and remarkable one. I was never his biggest fan, but I have always liked him a lot. And in recent years I have become a staunch supporter because it is in recent years to me that he has shown how amazing he is to be competing at that age. I thought it was super last year when he made the final of the USo and took a set from Federer, and how much stamina did he show wiht all those tough matches?
Also I like the fact that Agassi is emotional and a really nice person. You cant; dislike him can you? :D
Here's to an amazing career and an amazing man.
I hope he has a really happy retirement with Steffi and his family, and I do hope that he will coem to Wimbledon and do some commentary and the likes. :ok:

Flamboyant would be the word to describe his whole approach to tennis.
He took the aggressive baseliner game to a whole new level. Noone played like him, taking the ball so early and hitting hard and flat. He was one of the most spectacular players to watch and often hit sensational passing shots and lobs. Probably the best returner ever , he was the only player to challenge Sampras as his 20-14 H2H shows .
His greatest achievement was winning the Career Slam. Unlike most players his basic game was effective on all surfaces . In 1999-2000 he reached four Slam finals in a row winning three , which is especially amazing when you consider he was 29 and his career looked to be over a couple of years eallier.
He was an underachiever though . By staying away from the Australian and Wimbledon in his younger days we'll never know how many more slams he would have won. Likewise if he hadnt been up against Sampras.
He continued to perform well on the big stage well into his thirties, beating many younger faster opponents by dictating the play and moving them around the court. Which shows that true talent and court craft is what counts not sheer power.
As far as tennis talent goes, he's right up there with the best of all time.
A great ambassador for the game and idolised by many young up and coming players over the years, he can genuinely be said to have influenced how the game is played today .
You'll be missed, Andre. :D

It was very sad to see Andre lose today against the very impressive Becker, although I must admit i'm happier that he has lost to a relative unknown than Roddick, which could have got cheesy.
The sight of Andre crying on match point will live with me for a long while i'm sure - not many things make me feel emotional but that did!
Anyway, what can I say about the man. For over 20 years he was one of the games greatest personalities, one of it's star attractions. He wore his heart on his sleeve both on the court and in his life, and ended up at the end of it all one of the most wonderful and warm personalities in the world of sport. He also, of course, holds a unique place in that he is the only 'modern' male player to have done a career grand slam, and I believe the first to have done the slam on four different surfaces (Laver and the others did it when at least two of the slams were on grass)
Cheers Andre, you will be sorely missed to the game of tennis, and you are the last of the 'old guard' that I grew up with :(!

I have nothing to add to these good - and fitting - tributes to Agassi, except to say I agree wholeheartedly. I shall never forget seeing him appear in his outlandish attire at the FO and everyone waiting with baited breath to see what he'd be wearing at Wimbledon: and there he was, in immaculate whites!
But have you seen the horrible attacks on him on the beeb! Why can't people let him - and many of us, too - have his emotional moment :(

...Ahem... Ladies and gentlemen...sports afficiandos, personalities and tennis lovers.... it is with great pleasure.... :P ..who am I kidding.. :) even Andre will find it too formal roflmao
I was pretty young when Andre started out, so I never really followed his very early years. I sort of started admiring him in the later 90's...... and partly becos of Brooke shields.. :P
You know having won all surfaces is pretty impressive. One of those things that I will always remember him for wether he is considered one of the GOAT.
Some criticised his attitude, but I think that was what made him special ;) and brought so much charisma to his games. The man is not perfect, but who cares, he got the titles, the humanitarian foundations, he played his part for the betterment of the sport.
I would have loved him to go out on a high....but it is the thing with Agassi, he does everything on his own terms and time.....
I hope the rest of his life's journey is filled with much love and prosperity.....looking forward to a Junior AGASSI CUM GRAFF....after all when you have two great tennis players for parents....nature should at least grant you one tennis bone in your body roflmao , if not a tennis brain.
Amen to a career well lived....!!!!
I would have said he should consider FED or Davis something ..but I am not totally sure about his temperament in dealing with other people in personal , stressful situations.... anyway KUDOS....BRAVO.. BONNE CHANCE

Well most has been said already but I would just like to add my part. I have never been his biggest fan but have obviously always respected him. It is in the last couple of years that I have become a true fan of Andre and seen what a true gentleman he is. He has inspired me in how he plays the game so well at so late an age and has such dedication and honour.
He is obviously a very unique person and player and it is sad we will never see the like of him grace the tennis courts again; however it his achievements as a tennis player that are the most notable. He has won everything of import in the game: all four grand slams on all four different surfaces. The only male player ever to have done that  Not to mention his THOUSANDS of masters titles and other career titles as well as his Olympic Gold giving him the Career Golden Grand Slam. He is truly a legend. And has left us some brilliant matches and a brilliant rivalry with Pete and some brilliant quotes to remember him by. He is one of the all time greats and everyone knows it. :)
Good luck Andre with whatever you do in the future and I hope you and your amazing wife have a great life and stay involved with tennis in some form

Having read through this there are some truly amazing posts. I think they pay great respect to Andre and very warm and appreciative. I hate to be corny, but they are very much from the heart and it shows that Andre occupies a special place there for many people, regardless of whether they were a huge fan of his tennis style. Great stuff :)
