Title: Andre beats Marcos- one of the greats?
Description: New poll!

Polls are fun! :)

You know what I mean by the 'great matches'- the matches that stand out in your mind as some of the greatest through history. The Borg-Macenroe final would surely count, as would Safin beating Federer in the AO, and countless other matches. But does this count as one of them?

Andre Agassi, widely tipped to go out to another young pretender, somehow musters the skill and endurance to battle past the supremely talented Baghdatis, in one of the most surreally dramatic 5th sets ever seen- was the match enough to match other 'great matches'?

I stayed up until gone 5pm to watch it, and...I think it is. :)

Well i can't say cos I was not lucky enough to eb abel to see it. However, it certainly sounds great in terms of drama and a great story for Agassi, and if Mac says it wa sorn of th ebest ever, I will go along with him.

Well, Mac does tend to hyperbole but even so, the occassion of Agassis imminent retirement would have made it a real drama .I didnt see it either :( , so cant comment on the quality of tennis.

The quality was very high. :) Especially the first two sets, neither of them seemed to miss! The rallies were long, and since they're both like metranomes from the back of the court, there were some astonishing points...

It tailed off slightly as Baghdatis began to step it up and domonate proceedings, and though the quality all but disintegrated in the 5th set entirely, the drama easily made up it. :)

It obviously was a very exciting match, but I wouldn't rank it as a 'great' match to be honest, after all the conclusion was very unsatisfactory with Baghdatis cramping up at the end and Agassi virtually winning by default as a result, plus the fact the winner of the tournament is not coming from that match.

In fact it was almost a shame Andre won - if there was a match to go out with a bang on this was it, and it wouldn't have been against a nicer opponent!

Again im one of those not fortunate enough to be able to have seen it. Although it sounds excellent from what I've heard. I suspect it will be talked about for a long time and remembered more than Agassi's actual last match. This was Agassi's last victory on the ATP. Only time will tell if it becomes thought of as a great match.

If Marcos goes onto do even greater things perhaps it will be seen as impressive achievement of Agassi's being able to defeat even an injured Marcos considering 16 years difference in age, when Agassi was himself suffering.
