Roger Federer SUI (1) vs. Yeu-Tzuoo Wang TPE
Tim Henman GBR vs. Greg Rusedski GBR :yikes:

Match of the round: Lopez v Ljubicic

Nick Havoc - August 23, 2006 05:35 PM (GMT)
Go Andre!!

I hope he has a good start. Agassi v. Baghdatis would be a good second round match. I'm really hoping for a good result for Agassi's final tourney, but the last few times I've seen him play, he just hasn't seemed to have the speed to keep up with some of the youngsters . . .

JFK - August 23, 2006 05:58 PM (GMT)
Do you think it is a bit strange: usually a Britain at Wimbledon will play one of the top two seeds in the first two rounds - Ok, there are 6 places he could be drawn out of 96. but it always just 'happens' that they will be lucky and play on a show court. same for Cincy - Henman/Murray played Federer and again with the US Open. Maybe it's just happens to occur during the grand slams...

Flame - August 23, 2006 06:05 PM (GMT)
fed in round 2 for the 2nd slam running. who did tim henman p*ss of in a past life?

Scotsguy - August 23, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
Good matches in the opening quarter are Rusedski vs Henman, Gaudio vs Seppi, and Calleri vs Moya, no greatly exciting matches except Henman/Rusedski whcih is only interesting because we're british,

2nd quarter- Vok vsSafin could be good, Ginepri vs Benneteau and Mahut vs Schettler

3rd quarter-Johansson vs Grosjean, Lopez vs Ljubicic

4th quarter- NAdal vs Philoppossis, Nieminen vs MAlisse, Ferrer vs Almagro, Wawrinka vs Chela and Karlovic vs Soderling

Yes that is a repeat fo Wimby eh? How odd.

Very unlucky draw for Tim again.

Murray draw is good but Gonzo early on is a very tough one though.

Nadal coudl eb in danger in round one. Scud is unpredictable and itsn't fit enough consitently to win a slam, but he is a very dangerous opponent who specialises in going a few trounds with and early upset of a seed. h edid that at Wumby with Mathieu. No idea how he is goign to play but if he' son song, Nadal will struggle as from what I see he takes a while to play himself into a tournie, liek Wimby. And I dont; see much advantage to Nadal from the surface. Well I will be rooting for my boy the Scud anyway. :D This coudl eb a dramtic encounter indeed.

Hey dl, I like Marat too, but I prefer David, I wouldn't want to pick a winner, neither player is a model of consistency, to put it nicely

Yeah, and Nalby has hardly shone on this hard-court season

Still he's super-consistent at the slams, but i'm hoping Safin can rediscover some form at new York. Saying that, they probably wont even make round 2 now

I know roflmao

David does have a habit of producing the goods at the Slams, he really is the Dementieva of the ATP, right down to the wayward serve roflmao

dl04 - August 25, 2006 09:25 AM (GMT)
He really is roflmao

And Safin the myskina of the ATP, furiously inconsistent.........and well, just plain furious roflmao

SerenaW19 - August 25, 2006 10:22 AM (GMT)
It's tough for Murray landing Gonzales as his first seed. He could win if he keeps up recent from but if it goes to five you've gotta like Gonzo's chances. Still if Gonzo isn't his best then Murray could just outplay him.

Amongst the FAB five who do you think is likely to make it to the top of the USO??

Djoko, Nadal ,Gasquet, Berdych, Murray...

I feel Gasquet stands the best chance,,coming close is Murray

By the way, I am very glad that Federer has a better if not easy draw this time. He deserves some good fortune right about now.....

He even agreed on an interview yesterday that he thought so too....

SerenaW19 - August 25, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
He deserves a walkover after that stinker of a draw at Wimbledon roflmao

My heart says Murray to go the furthest. I think Gasquet will though if he finds his best form.

Nadal could potentially go to the final we'll have to "wait and see".

Don't think Djko is back to his best form yet. Will make 4r at the AO AT LEAST though I reckon, too soon here.

Berdych tends to disappoint a bit at Slams though :(

Scotsguy - August 26, 2006 07:27 AM (GMT)
Murray will now face Kendrick of all people, the guy he beat 6-0 6-0 at newport, but kendrcik was injured then, and he'll have played his way into some form during the qualifying wheras Murray hasn't played for a week and a half....

Goodall will face Paul Henri-Matthieu.

Wasn't it kendrick who nearly took out nadal at Wimbledon?

Yep, and a fine performance it was. Not sure he'll get the same kind of advantages on hard-courts though........

scolios - August 26, 2006 09:14 AM (GMT)
Where will you be watching the USO in the UK? I read on the beeb's board that the BBC isn't showing it. So I suppose it will be Eurosport for you as it is for me in Danmark. Tennis and adverts :o

9mmSuzi - August 26, 2006 11:09 AM (GMT)
Espn will be showing it so if you can get their international schedule or broadcast you can catch it there too...

I doubt it wether any sites will have it online, due to advertising and other legal shenanigans..but maybe due to its popularity it might be.

welshboy91 - August 26, 2006 11:16 AM (GMT)
In the UK, its on Eurosport and Sky Sports Extra.

Bob and Nav beat Miek and Corina. i twas a great match by all accounts. Glad Martina got through, it would make my tennis year if she could win one more doubles title in her last tournie. guess she has a great partner, so hopefully it will be Bob and Martina lifting that trophy next week. she is in WD with petrova too. :)
