Who's going to be the lucky player in the 9-12 who draws Schnyder (or even Petrova in current form) in the 4th Round!
Venus is seeded - just and will play one of the top 8 in the 3rd round!
Actica - August 22, 2006 10:19 AM (GMT)
Well if Venus gets Hingis, Petrova or Schnyder in the 3rd round then shw should progress...
Lets not forget though the VERY dangerous Wild Card Serena!!! :D

Venus won't make the 3rd round sadly

There are actually some pretty tough third round draws in prospect which is unusual in the womens game.
As well as Venus the top 8 could face
Golovin, Sugiyama, Dechy, Likhovsteva or Zheng Jie who are all pretty tough players.
Some even bigger potential clashes for the 9-16 v 17-24 brackets when you consider the likes or Li Na, Kirilenko, Chakvetadze, Jankovic, Hantuchova, Pennetta & Peer are all lurking in the 17-24 section.
Can't wait to see the draw tomorrow!

Well it is Oblivion afterall roflmao ;)
At least Venus is seeded so providing she has no more horror shows she stands a more than excellent chance of reaching at least the 3r.
It's better than Serena and her WC. I can't wait for the draw to see if any of the big names land her; hopefully she'll be in the separate half or at least quarter to Venus  and we can see her continue her massacre of seeds :D

Don't worry :)
I know you've been doing well with your predictions lately Oblivion but even you can't predict how erratic Venus could be roflmao
She's as likely to win the US Open as go out in the first round roflmao

Imagine if Serena had to play Hingis in the first round. On one hand, it would be great to watch, them two renewing thier rivalry, but on the other hand, it would be too early in the competiton, for a match of that promince.
On second thoughts, I hope Serena gets JHH (changed from Gollum), so JHH (changed from Gollum) can go out in the first round. :D

In some ways I'm glad Venus and Serena are so low down the table, it means we've got some great matches to look forward to early on...
Serena v Hingis/Sharapova/Henin hopefully :D
ObL!v!0N - August 22, 2006 06:15 PM (GMT)

Myskina is Flushing Meadows doubt
Former French Open champion Anastasia Myskina is battling a foot injury ahead of the US Open, which starts next week.
The Russian was beaten 4-6 6-3 6-4 by Italy's Mara Santangelo in the first round of the WTA event in New Haven.
"Of course I tried hard today but maybe not 100% because it is the US Open next week," said the 25-year-old Myskina.
"I wanted to try to see how my foot feels. It was OK but I will see the doctor. Then I have a few days to get some rest."
