Title: Ferrero vs Nadal
Description: Battle of the Spaniards
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 04:59 PM (GMT)
So currently Nadal leads 4-3, the pair swapped breaks once so far and Ferrero is now serving....
Come on Jaun Carlos :yahoo:
JymJilly - August 18, 2006 05:08 PM (GMT)
I sense an upset here. J.C has been playing very well lately
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 05:15 PM (GMT)
Currently 5-5, come on Juan Carlos
JymJilly - August 18, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
Getting interseting now
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 05:25 PM (GMT)
Jill are you watching it??
Cos my livescores have frozen...
JymJilly - August 18, 2006 05:27 PM (GMT)
Yes I have got the live score up but they do keep freezing . You have to click out and click back in again. But I have got it on T.V also
The score is now 4 -1 to J.C in the tiebreak. Just off to watch for a bit proper now. See you later
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)
Ferrero wins the first set 7-6 (7-2) :yahoo:
Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)

This is the 5th match between these 2 and thats the first set JCF has taken off Nadal can he take another for the win?!
Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 05:37 PM (GMT)
I don't know. Nadal has a habit of slow starts, then turning it up a notch. I think Rafa will come back to take it in three.

Very true French Open Final is a case in point!
SuperBRAT - August 18, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
Good stuff for Ferrero taking first set :ok: Keep it up!
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 06:01 PM (GMT)
Ferrero leading the 2nd set 4-3 (on serve)

Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 06:02 PM (GMT)
You guys are good today. I keep getting my questions answered just before I ask them. :D
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 06:16 PM (GMT)
It seems that God is against Ferrero today, NAdal was about to serve to stay in the match at 4-5 when play was suspended due to rain....
Wakeupandsmell - August 18, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
Phew!!!
My boy announces to the crowd before he leaves for rain delay:
"I'll be back..."
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 06:45 PM (GMT)
Play has continued...15-15
Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 06:49 PM (GMT)
Did the scoreboard freeze again? I seem to be stuck on 15-15.

Yepp me too
Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 06:52 PM (GMT)
I think it's now 6-5, with Nadal serving to force a second tiebreak.
Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 06:58 PM (GMT)
 Can't get the scores. It's probably either over or headed to a tiebreak by now.
mightyjeditribble - August 18, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
According to the (German) commentary at
http://www.sportbild.de/live/tennis/index_frame.htmlit's gone into a second tiebreak. Unfortunately that site doesn't have point-for-point scores.
Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 07:05 PM (GMT)
According to "Rajput" on the BBC board, who must be watching live, JCF was up 4-1 in the breaker. Unfortunately, they have that stupid 3-min delay thingy there.

(I need some help cos of the whole 3-minute rule! Anyone else have the pleasure of watching this match?)
Ferrero pushed Nadal round court before Nadal turned the tables and sent Ferrero all over the place. Nadal came to the net and won the point with an excellent stop volley. 4-3 Ferrero.
Short-ish rally ended when Nadal makes an unforced error, presumably trying to hit a winner. 5-3 Ferrero.
Nadal on the run into the net. 6-3 Ferrero.

YaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaYYYY WOOOOOO that means 2 out of three of my fav players must be in semis :D :D
mightyjeditribble - August 18, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
Well done indeed. As much as I like both Roger and Rafa, I think it's good to have a tournament where neither of them is in the final, for a change. In any case, well done to the players that kicked them out!
I would still like to see a Federer-Nadal final at the USO though (although I'm not sure how likely it is that the latter can make it to the final).
ObL!v!0N - August 18, 2006 07:18 PM (GMT)
YEAH! Well done to the King of Spain!
It will be quiet on the Beeb tommorow, chetanpv won't have anything to boast about.

Good for JCF, the old King of Clay is back. Nice to see him havign a good run, and nice to see the older play doing well. :ok: I'm not a major fan of clay court specialists and their playign styles, bu tI've always liked JCF the most, he seems to have a touc of class about his play that lacks in the younger clay courters.
Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!! Robredo is a set and a break up :ok:

Only just back in, and heard about this result!!!
Bravo JCF!! Always liked the mosquito! Well, liked the fact that he was one of the smaller guys who always gave his all!
Commiserations Rafa.. it is a real rarity to have a tournament where Fed and Rafa have both entered and neither has reached the semis, even. Can anyone remember the last time that this happened??
And I noticed on the beeb board that the trolls were already wheeling out their inanities. Didn't pay too much attention to them as their moronic thread headers just said it all.
Well, in true beeb style: 'Juan Carlos has produced a stunning straight sets victory over the transitional world number 2 to send a chilling warning to the rest of the players"

Sounds like the quality of opposition is picking up in this 'weak' era.. ;)

What a marvellous perfomance by J.C. Full credit. I think it was a great win and the best Tennis of the tournament so far.
He is like the J.C of old when he was top of the tree. I think he might win this tournament now.
