So results from the 3rd round are

Murray beat (15)Ginepri 7-6 2-6 6-4
(9)Roddick beat Chela 6-3 6-4
(13)Gonzalez beat Wawrinka 7-6 7-5
(10)Ferrer beat (8)Baghdatis 7-5 6-4

(7)Robredo beat Serra 6-3 6-1
(4)Ljubicic beat Hrbaty 7-5 6-4
Ferrero beat Soderling 7-5 6-4
(2)Nadal beat (14)Haas 7-6 6-3

Centre court starting at 5pm BST

Ferrero vs (2)Nadal
(7)Robredo vs (4)Ljubicic

Starting at 1pm BST

Murray vs (9)Roddick
Gonzalez vs Ferrer

Currently Murray is 2nd in the USO series and he was 20pts behind Federer, but now he's gained another 25pts for his QF showing and Federer didn't get any ponts, Gonzalez is currently 1 point behind Murray so he must get further than Andy to win the series.... :ok:

4th place is Tursunov and he's out
5th place is Gasquet and he didnt play Cincy
6th =Blake, Haas and Clement are all out.......

However 100pts is a win in the masters series for the USO series so if some people who have gained 30pts+ win cincy and Murray and Gonzalez lose they will surpass them.....

Myabe this is me being too confident, but depsite Murrays heroic efforts and 2-0 head head with Andy R I have a feeling A Rod will pull one back today, he has looked really good in his last 2 matches and Murray seemed pretty tired by the end of the Ginepri match.

Id expect Gonzalez to over power Ferrer from the back of the court he has been in some great form of late!

Ljubicic v robredo could be the best match but Id back Ljubicic he is servign well and looking very sharp!so I think he will win in 2 tight sets

Nadal V Ferrero although Ferero is playing really well again the way Nadal played V Haas and with his head to head V Ferrero I think he will win today

Yeah, I think fatigue will be a factor as well. I'm sure Murray will have a good gameplan given that there's nothing about Roddick's game that Gilbert doesn't know but I'm worried that he will be too tired to execute it.
In a way it might be a blessing in disguise for him to lose because he'll get more time to rest before the USO.

True enough. It would be great if he could win this though. He may get to meet Nadal later, however I think being so tired and all he would not stand a chance against him. Good experince though. I have a feeling roddick is playing better and will win tonite, but then again if Andy shows the grit he's shown this week, and plays liek he did at wimbers he will beat Roddick easily. Roddick seems ot hate Murray's game.

dl04 - August 18, 2006 03:55 PM (GMT)
I did think Roddick was severly below par at Wimbledon though. When you consider his Wimbledon loss to Federer in 04, and how well he played for a set and a half, compared to his los against mUrray, made me ponder how well Roddick was playing that day.

Murray has got a very hard game for roddick to try and subdue. I think one of the main worries for Roddick, is that murray will bring him into the net, and Roddick's volleys, particulary below waist-height are in the maria sharapova school of horrofic drop-shots roflmao

It'll be a tough match, but i think Murray will edge it, either in two tough sets, or a 3 set struggle. Would like to see Roddick get back on form though, and he will drop further in the rankings if he doesnt reach the final here, but i think recent form will go with this one....

JFK - August 18, 2006 04:00 PM (GMT)
I feel that if Roddick takes the second set Murray will struggle and probably lose the third - the fact that he's played so many matches in such a short time has come a shock to him and he needs to rest next week.

JymJilly - August 18, 2006 05:18 PM (GMT)
If Murray is 100% fit tonight he will beat Roddick.
He has far more variety to his game than Roddick and better in the long rallies. I think he will return his serve well and pass him at will.
BUT he has to be 100% full of energy or else its goodnight Andy

Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
Which 4 will mkae the semis today?

Murray [ 8 ]
(9)Roddick [ 8 ]

(13)Gonzalez [ 13 ]
(10)Ferrer [ 3 ]

(7)Robredo [ 8 ]
(4)Ljubicic [ 8 ]

Ferrero [ 5 ]
(2)Nadal [ 11 ]

Well, the majority missed on the Nadal/Ferrero call.

We were evenly split on Robredo v. Ljubicic. Looks like Robredo is likely to take that one, as he currently leads 7-6, 5-2 (but just one break up).

Scotsguy - August 18, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
If Robredo wins then I'll be 100% right so far...

I want Ferrer to win (cos then Murray is almost certain to win the USO series) but predicted Gonzalez....

Nick Havoc - August 18, 2006 09:10 PM (GMT)
Robredo wins 7-6, 6-2.

Love the comment about the Ms school of horrific drop shots! roflmao Yes roddick's volleys can be suspect, makes you apprecaite how great a volleyer Tim is eh? Well Apos can volley better than roddick so ...... :D

Oh I dont; know who is going to win, i just have theis feeling it will be roddick tonight. I dont; see Murray beign on full energy tanks to get the rallies going. I hope so though.

petalp - August 19, 2006 12:13 AM (GMT)
Well, all of my predictions have gone wrong so far in these matches so far..! roflmao

So Murray fans will be please to know that I thought that Roddick would win this evening. So this of course gives Andy M an immediate advantage..

First game Andy M took Andy R to deuce.. but Andy R holds..

Should still be a good match. Shame it's on so late..:(

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 01:11 AM (GMT)
Looks like Roddick has the edge. He took the first set 6-3 and it's now deuce on Murray's serve at 1-1 in the second.

Murray is pretty much out on his feet - I fear the only way he was going to win this tonight would have been in straight sets. Don't think there's enough in the tank for a third set even if he can take it that far.

It's a shame, because on the evidence so far Murray is a better tennis player than Roddick IMO.

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 01:29 AM (GMT)
It's just about all over now. Roddick serving at 6-3, 5-2 . . .

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 01:32 AM (GMT)
But Murray takes one break back! Andy M. serving now, down 3-5.

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
15-40 Two match points.

But Murray gets it to deuce. Roddick challenges a line call, but is proved wrong.

Murray holds for 4-5.

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)
Now Andy R. will try again to serve out the match:

Roddick seems to be rushing his serve. A double fault gets it to 30-30

Roddick gains a match point, but a good return of serve by Murray puts him in control of the point. Murray puts it deep into the corner and Roddick nets a forehand.

Deuce.

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
All over now. Roddick wins 6-3, 6-4, finishing with a strong serve up the T, which Murray cannot return.

Nick Havoc - August 19, 2006 03:07 AM (GMT)
And Gonzo wins 6-2, 6-4.

Straight sets in each of the quarterfinals.
