Good line-up (starts July 14)
- Serena Williams
- Anna Chakvetadze
- Elena Dementieva
- Marion Bartoli
- Daniela Hantuchova
- Patty Schnyder
- Shahar Peer
- Francesca Schiavone
- Nadia Petrova

I assume Lindsay probably isn't fit enough to play...

Anna Keovathong plays in the qualifers too.

IvanoVICTORY - July 6, 2008 09:59 PM (GMT)
Will be looking for
- Serena Williams
- Elena Dementieva
- Daniela Hantuchova
- Patty Schnyder
- Nadia Petrova
to do well. Going to be interesting, can't wait. Do hope they'll air some of it on TV here - they normally don't. :(

nevets - July 6, 2008 10:08 PM (GMT)
We have some coverage (not live though) but British Eurosport are mainly showing one of the ATP tournies - probably Indianapolis but I'm not sure.

Yes, I'll be looking forward to watching Serena, Daniela and Elena. I like Patty but generally only on the clay.

Elena has pulled out of Stanford :(

:(

Oh well, nothing gained but nothing lost with no points to defend :)

She'll still be a huge contender on this surface, especially going into the US Open.

Cant see anyone but Serena claiming this title

GS2 - July 13, 2008 07:53 AM (GMT)
Qualifying early results

Good start from Keothavong winning 6-0, 6-2 though Baltacha lost 7-5, 6-4.

Also through is Georgie Stoop - she was a wild card into qualifying and won 6-7, 7-6, 6-0 over Savchuk.

Larcherde Brito the big prospect from Portugal got a big win over the top seed Domachowska 6-0, 6-1!!

Well i was speaking as if we were in an ideal world roflmao

It'd be nice to see Lindsay have an injury-free tourny, she's still a threat on this surface :)

She was lucky to get a stupidly easy route into the SF at the US Open - the highest rank player she faced before Kuzy was Peer (18)

That SF with Kuznetsova was absolutely horrible :yikes:

Getting the ball over the net was an achievment

I used to like Anna too choka, but she just became too deranged this year roflmao

roflmao

You can almost predict the pattern of her matches. Wins the first set comfortably, falls to piece in the 2nd set and somehow scraps through in the 3rd.

She has the most bizarre scorelines in her matches!

GS2 - July 14, 2008 07:09 AM (GMT)
Good news for the Brits - Keothavong and Stoop both won their second round in qualifying and are now both one match away from the main draw.

Yeah, Keothavong needs to now start playing MD tourny's now, she's way past Challenger level IMO. A MD appearance here would be a good backup for a good Wimby :)

Yeah she needs a good American harcourt season, especially with so many points to defend in the indoor season

I do worry about that foot injury though, and she looked well below par at Wimbledon

vivahate - July 14, 2008 03:18 PM (GMT)
i would have expected a muted performance at Wimby. it was her first tournie back from the foot, no?? and the injury is indeed worrisome :(

I just worry that she came back too soon at Wimby, because she was not moving well at all in that match

vivahate - July 14, 2008 03:25 PM (GMT)
i guess we'll find out where she's at this week...

JediFed - July 14, 2008 03:37 PM (GMT)

chokapova - July 14, 2008 06:37 PM (GMT)

chokapova - July 14, 2008 06:41 PM (GMT)
