Hmmm ... now I know why I don't want to join facebook. It seems to be full of jerks like this who do and say things that they would never get away with in real life
Gav - June 29, 2008 07:01 PM (GMT)
There seems to be a lot of groups on facebook set up for hating people and full of rather horrific language that as has already been said people wouldn't have the guts to do in real life. All rather sad.

Yeah and there was also a facebook entry for that child molester or murderer guy, can't recall his name, but they somehow affiliated some kids blogs with it - it happened to this local women you see, she was horrifed and she couldn't get facebook to remove pics of her 10 yr old daughter form his page or summat. I think he is inside.
Dinky Jo - June 29, 2008 07:14 PM (GMT)
yeah, there are some fairly vitriolic groups on Facebook - should have seen the one I spotted the other day about Steve McClaren :yikes: But you can actually complain to the FB people about particularly bad or offensive groups and have them removed.

Yeah it kind of gives them a space to be anti social and law breaking which you don't get in real life without consequences. To do this kidn fo thing you'd have to fly post or somthing and that si illegal for eg.

Looks like all the other childish prattle on Facebook to me, you don't have to be particularly high minded to think that it's dross.
I think it says everything about the down side of democracy-the morons will have their say.
trisco - June 30, 2008 09:07 AM (GMT)
It might only be text on acreen tosome people but some of the stuff they come out with?? :o
Hoping he dies, gets "tainted with the cancer brush" :o :o :o
I'm not angry they say it about Andy but the fact they should say that about anybody. Pure Evil, you can't joke about things like that..

Didn't there used to be a "Report Group" button in facebook. I can't see one anymore. I am going to complain about it but not sure where I do that?
IvanoVICTORY - June 30, 2008 09:31 AM (GMT)
Some of the groups you just have to brush off and keep moving. People will do anything to get people to join. The comments were very childish (towards Murray)
But LMAO at the Anna C page - 51 members only?

I fear of sounding snooty and high minded when I say things like that but sadly it is all too true. There is always a downside to everythign good.

You guys should watch the comedy series "Nathan Barley". Much of the series is built on the premise of the "Rise Of the idiots" in society with one journalist's attempts to forever try to keep at arms lengths from it, but always being pulled into it against his will. It's hillarious.

I don't use Facebook, and after what I have seen and heard I can't be ar*ed. Besides they wouldn't allow my face on the net
Btw I LOVE this
"Eeh bah gum, when I were a lad we used to dive for volleys" :lmaao:
I don't see Boris eating a Hovis butty riding his bike up the cobbled streets though. But that ad was such a classic, and we were alwasy finfign any excuse to say that line! And my grandad rode a bike and wore a flat cap so we used to think he was the Hovis boy. :D

Just seen this post - totally sums up everything that enrages me about the lowest common denominator that inhabit this country.
If you see the 'related' groups they all sound like small-minded fools.
I pity the LCD, imagine having that pathetic a life that you take such joy in running somebody down.
They probably glean all their world knowledge from The Mail headlines.... :sicky:
nevets - June 30, 2008 04:02 PM (GMT)
But in all fairness, there are more fanclub groups (I'm in about 25 tennis fangroups!!) than trash-talking groups.
I guess everyone probably says things on boards and forums they wouldn't say in real life but the thing on that Andy Murray group falls into a different stratosphere altogether.

I know!! I can't believe quite how easily he seemed to beat Stan   I haven't seen his post-match interview yet, but the guy suddenly seems to be brimming with confidence - would be fantastic if he reached the semis!   although by that point i may have resorted to eating my own feet whilst watching the match :P
dl04 - July 1, 2008 09:59 AM (GMT)
I know what you mean, his matches still arent trouble-free. Ironically his match against Djokovic was the easiest so far roflmao
I hope he brings his Aussie Open 2005 form to the quarters :D
If that happens he's unplayable...

Well it's sort of been a slow progression this year (ironic given how crummy he's been playing) I sort of felt a bit sorry for him to be losing to players like Bobby Reynolds and I was thinking it was a shame to see a champ go like that, and then I watched him vs Davydenko at RG where he was beaten really easily. But I looking at the match i thought-Marat isn't that far off top twenty tennis, he's doing 90% of it but just not the closing out of rallies and keeping it together bit. I kept thinking if something just clicked he's play really well again.
And then beating Djokovic just made my day....I'm rooting for Marat tomorrow :yahoo:
