Title: ATP Los Angeles

Nick Havoc - July 27, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
I'm following things in Los Angeles, mainly because my man Agassi is there. He started slow and finished strong in both of his first two matches. And he's into the QF now.

Not a bad field, but a couple big names are already gone. Safin went out yesterday to Gonzalez, and of course Hewitt went out earlier to Goldstein.

He's a habit of coming back when you least expect him.

My boy A Rod has stuggled to the Quaters he has picked up an injury yesterday but lets hope its not too serious and that he is still on course for the title!

Was quite surprised by the semi final results.. Thought that Gonzo might have too much for Tursunov.. and Tursunov won comfortably, in 4 and 2..!

Haas beat Hrbaty, which reflects Haas' good form over the year and Hrbaty's indifferent form. I vaguely recall Hrbaty having won a few of their last few matches, so good for Haas to reverse that trend.

So, a Tursunov v Haas final. Another tough one to call..

dunno if this has or not, but i suspect it has slipped under the rador that Andy murray's brother, Jamie has reached the final of the doubles! The briton alongside american Eric Butorac beat the second seeds, Parrott (ranked 57 in doubles) and Thomas (doubles rank of 36) comfortably 6-2 6-3. They then beat Jenkins/Simmonds 6-4 7-5 and followed it up with a tighter win over the 4th seeds hrbaty/coetzee winning 4-6 6-4 11-9. They now face the bryan twins in the final. one step too far but a very respectable achievement to get this far...

Good win for Haas. I was hoping for Andre to defend his title, but that's OK; he's just getting warmed up for the big ones . . . ;)

What happened in the doubles final?
