Title: Cross Forum Euro 2008 Predict-a-Score challenge

Pebs - May 19, 2008 09:18 PM (GMT)
CALLING ALL FOOTIE FANS - AND ALL THOSE WHO LOVE PREDICTING, NO MATTER WHAT THE GAME!!!

We have been approached by the lovely people from The Pit Lane forum - to be more precise, the lovely Lord Tau - about running the above for Euro 2008 (thats the technical name for it...)

The idea goes something like....

Players predict the scores in the games in the football tournament and points are awarded accordingly. The highest scorer from each forum is crowned individual forum champion. The highest score overall is the overall winner. Also, the top 7 scorers from each forum will have their scores added together and the forum with the highest total wins the forum championship and gets bragging rights.

(see LT for questions - its his game!)

This is just a heads up for all those who might be interested or want to approach LT with any queries before he gets it up and running.

LT will be posting links and details in here and I guess you will all do the same!

Enjoy - and dont let CC down!

:whip:

ooooh well my knowledge on footie is sh*t but I might do it for a laugh cos nowadays everyoen plays so defensive they don't score. And England always lose so that is something to help me

Thanks Pebs!

For those not in the know, I actually run a series of successful prediction games on TPL and on an ice hockey forum. With the Euro 2008 Footie tournament coming up, I felt I could take this opportunity in using (one of) the world's favourite games to bring different forum communities together. Let's hope this works! :)

If you've never played Predict-a-Score before, don't worry - the rules are easy to pick up. For each game in the tournament, simply predict the score for it. You will be awarded points based on the accuracy of your predictions:

1 point for getting the score right
1 point for getting the goal difference right
1 point for getting the winner right

This gives a maximum of 3 points per match. The object of the game is to score as many points as you can. The winner is the player with the most points.

But wait, there's more!

As Pebs stated in the OP, this is a cross-forum championship! Thus, the individual winners from each forum will be crowned the individual forum champion. The highest scorer from all three forums will be the overall winner. Finally, the top 7 scorers from each forum will have their scores added together, and the forum with the highest total will be the Forum Champion.

Links, standings, and other bits and pieces will be posted nearer the time.

Official Rules

1. Only predictions made in the Predict-a-Score threads or sent to me via PM will be accepted.
2. Each player will represent a forum. The forum you represent will be the one on which you make your first prediction.
3. Occasionally, mistakes may occur. If you spot something amiss in the scores or the rules, let me know, and I'll sort it out as best I can. I'm only human.
4. Scores and stats will be updated hopefully every day, but don't worry if that doesn't happen.
5. This is meant to be a harmless bit of fun, with nothing at stake, save bragging rights. So, please don't take it too seriously, and do not cheat.
6. Have fun!

Enjoy!
