The Beeb keeps repeating the same auld stuff, does it nae?

Gav - April 21, 2008 08:00 PM (GMT)
It's almost as bad as the annual "Tiger Tim will win Wimbledon" article followed by the "Has Tim blown his best chance?" article that appeared when he got booted out.........that we used to get..... bla bla bla. :yep: :yep:

Harry Potter - April 21, 2008 08:14 PM (GMT)
Or even "Henman crashes out" :hmm:

WimbledonAce - April 25, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
The BBC are so crap. The amount of times they use the same headlines is ridiculous. Like crashes out even when beaten by a top 10 player and having taken it to 3 sets. And you can guarantee the Mardy Fish ones include "reeled in". Obviously they think its hilarious but after 10 times it gets tiresome.
Also Im very annoyed that they can't get simple results correct. This week alone they have got the winners round the wrong way twice. It's unacceptable. I think I may draft a letter. :coffee:

I've often sent emails to the Beeb in the past to correct wee mistakes they've made in articles. The mistake is always corrected, yet they never thank me! Ungrateful ***** ;)

They've probably got tired of my emails though - I recently sent a correction a paragraph stating that "McCormack dispossessed Nakamura in midfield and raced towards goal, playing a neat one-two with Stephen Hughes before slipping the ball past Artur Boruc", when it was actually Paul Hartley who was dispossessed. Still no rectification, and of course, no effing reply  ;)

dl04 - April 26, 2008 10:40 AM (GMT)
I understand the BBc has to indulge the British public with Murray, but it's so much  His every movement is turned into an article, his every word seen as really profound and insightful. I just wanna read tennis news, not what Murray's holiday plans are  roflmao

It wont change though, as long as a British player is doing well, look out for blatant bias, hypocracy and general annoying antics from the Beeb.

Thing is we only ever have one decent player at a tinme if at all, so they only have the one focus in tennis. So that is bound to draw all the attention. I do take your point though, but I think that being a British service and tennsi nto beign that popular compared to football, the main draw for the average newsreader will be the inside outs of our British No 1. And I feel sorry for them tbh.

If we had say 10 top 100 players do you think it woudl eb different?

Probably SB, because they'd be less pressure on one person, but they'd still consume all the news roflmao

Bet Jo durie never got her front-page moment roflmao

Did they say 'reeled in'? I missed that

They ought to just ask the Sun for help. They are crass but their best headlien ever was "Up Yours Delors" :lmaao: :lmaao: :lmaao: And they were very mean to Grahma Taylor in the footie when we lost to Sweden, they had that headline Sweed Bashed, and started puttign pictures of a root vegetable in as his head. Porr Graham

Well I suppose if we had more top players, interest night be higher in the sport and it woudl just get more coverage as you say. I knwo lot of folks who don't do tennis but when Wimby comes along , being our national event and the best in the world of it's type, they want to watch it but don't know many of the players. And they want to see Brits doing well too. When there aren't any they lose interest.

I don't knwo if they made much of Durie. I do remember when Ginnie Wade won Wimby in 1977. Every school had a TV in and we were allowed to watch her progress and of course the final. And she won! :o  Tennis was suddenly really popular, then a year later no one cared. Shame we do not have more godo players as there is a role for the media to play in bigging up Brits to make the game popular here and prodice more great players. Sadly though they lost an opportunity fo rthat by berating and insulting Tim Henman for years rather than praising his acheivements. I wonder if they will turn on Murray or if they are tryign to be nice to avoid that scenario again?

Yeah she stopped free milk in schools. Tight fisted evil cow snatching milk from the mouhts of minors!  You'd have thought folks might realise what she was like form that act but oh no, they elect her!

Btw when I was at school we used to get a bottle of milk and a straw every day. :ok: Some folks might say why, but it was to ensure you got calcium. Back then I do know of kids in my class who never saw a drop of real milk otherwise. Some folks would only have powder in, or be really tight with how much they put in your tea. and be Even my grandparents used tinned milk and sterilised :sicky: They were really poor and never had a TV until 1973, when my gran had abotu 3 yrs left of her life. And it was B&W. She used a proper iron that you heated up on the stove and had a mangle in the back yard.

My dad used to b*llock me if I used too much milk, his tea looks like North Sea Oil - speaking of which there isn't much fo that left thanks to Thatcher is there?
