Title: Help me decide on a new fave.
Description: State your case for the player(s) here!!

vivahate - April 12, 2008 05:36 PM (GMT)
as some may or may not know, my ladies have taken a hit in the last couple of years. Martina was gone/back/railing/gone forver and Clijsters was birthing. i've always enjoyed Dani, but is she really a consistent top 5 player?? her results don't speak to it. and Vaidisova has TOTALLY fallen off the radar this season. maybe Kuzzy or Myskina can give her some tips on handling the pressure after a big year.

so for CC, i ask you to make your claim on who should be my new fave(s). just stick to complimenting your players, and not slagging others to make your point.

cheers and thanks :) :)

Chose a young gun that you think will make it big-Then you can claim that you were a supporter all along.

I picked Radwanska as a fave 2 years ago and now she is delivering :D And I can take credit of being a great talent spotter....

I've now chosen Pavlyuchenkova as another fave-maybe you would like to join me in supporting her

or if you want a quicker return from your faves how about Wozniaki or Szavay?

No I picked her as a junior :P It was the first juniors match I had ever watched. I'm not saying the pioneer but I bet was before 95% of the rest of her fans....

:o  :yikes: That sounds like a "a fair-weather fan" talking!!!! Keep cheering for Dani & Richard and whoever else you like. They'll start winning one day.

I think Duchess has a point. You should really follow who you like to follow - if they win something big you can really enjoy the moment. Gasquet has the potential to be a contender. Dani has limitations to her game which will prevent her been a consistent contender but she can have a decent career if everything goes right - she had a great opportunity to be an Australian open finalist, so you never know what will happen.

Out of the young players I've seen over the last 12 months, I like Agnes Szavay the most. A couple of people have mentioned Radwanska, that's not my kind of player, she's a consistent steady player with no big weapons, that's not a forumla to be a great player in the long run - although of course she has to work with what she's got.

Szavay has a big game, an exciting game - that kind of games usually takes longer to develop and get consistent - so players with big games and natural talent tend to have a big splash, have a dip and then come on strong in their early 20s to be right up there for years to come - I predict that secario for Aganes Szavay

Yes it will be interesting to see what becomes of her, I do liek an exciting player with the weapons and hope that she can fulfil that potential.

Must say on the WTA whilst there are lots of up and coming players and new names about, I am findign ti hard myself to call myself a total fan of anyone. I supported Amelie for many years, now she is in decline it's very hard to pick someone new as so few have any touch and flair. And there are too many baseliners and counterpunchers. Of course Ilike Henin also, but when you support someone to the end you have to feel a connection and committment to them that is major and I always felt more passionate about Amelie than Justine.

Viva,

I reckon youshould go with Maria.

She is vastly under-supported by true ardent tennis fans. Sure you get her many fans who couldn't give a toss about tennis but just say she is their favourite due to her looks.

I'm not sure why many knowledgeable tennis fans do not support her. She has proven time and time again what a world class player she is, sure her shots are not really textbook, well forehand isn't anyway but she has the guts and the determination of no-one else out there, a very pleasant character too as comes across in most her interviews. You will not often hear her bitching about other players like most others do.
Very graceful and humble and a damn shit-hot tennis player to boot :ok:

If I were you I'd just pick a young entertaining player who has the potential of reaching the top 20.

Queen Justine - April 22, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
Dominika Cibulkova

http://www.dominika-cibulkova.com/

For me she's the "new kid on the block". She makes matches so exciting, takes them to 3 sets and always comes back from the brink of losing to winning. She beat Venus in Doha and has scalped a few other top ten players.

She's only 5'3" and I think she's the shortest on the tour - bless her :)

She's also stunning looking user posted image
