Title: The Masters-Augusta
Description: Golf
Brakkus - April 11, 2008 03:04 PM (GMT)
Anyone into Golf,I think Tenez has mentioned he plays.Good start by Rose, but he is known to start well here and then fade through rounds 3 and 4.
Trevor Immleman who is my swing guru, love his rotation and were around the same height too looks good and is currently leading on 5 under.
Wonder if Tiger will make his move today, usually he has a surge that fires him up the leaderboard with the middle rounds.

My partner plays golf, although not often as we are not in with the swanky golf club set. I'm only any good at putting, I hate swinign the club cos it hurts my shoulder so I'm happy to just put! :D And I like driving the buggy, esp in scenic locations.
I might watch some, I keep meaning to get into it more - it doesn't majorly hook me but I can see thr skill and do like to see the putting. I remember beign very impressed with Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie. Who do you reckon will win this one then cos they are all talking Woods up on the radio so the pressure on him will be huge!

I used to play Golf a lot. Had a couple of holes in one in my time.... One was very special because my bro followed it up with a hole in one himself.... what are the chances of that??!???!
Anyway, back to this week. The Brits are doing their usual charge early on at the Masters. I wonder if this one will last though. They don't usually these days.
This has Tiger Woods written all over it, he needs to make his move over the next 2 days. He is more than capable of doing that at Augsta too.
I'd love to see Rose do it..... you never know I guess. :ok:

Trevor Immelman has had a cracking couple of rounds.
He finished on 8 under.Tiger is due to go out in 20 minutes, and he's on level par,so he needs something pretty special to put himself in contention, and the way he's played lately, then you can't imagine him not putting it together for at least 2 of the 4 rounds.

I don't play golf but I sometimes go and hack up golf courses with my clubs. :ok:
This is another one of those sports that I used to find boring to watch on TV but have slowly gotten into. What I like about golf is that literally anyone can win - sounds obvious, but in football you know that one of the big 3 will win the Premiership (and no Brakkus that doesn't include Liverpool  ) and tennis is pretty similar at the Slams. In golf, there are a huge number of "shock" winners, which is always healthy for a sport in my opinion.
Far too early to be making predictions - I imagine the leader board will be completely different on the final day to how it is now, but shall be following with interest nonetheless.

If the greens remain as firm as they are now, I expect the winning score will be something like 12 under par. So Immelman is in a very good position as 2 round of 70 (not a exactly a sinecure) could bring him the green jacket. Woods needs to pull something out of magic hat to win. Obviously he’s very well capable of that but frankly I don’t think it will happen this time. Unless some rain will allow him to play more aggressive.
Mickelson is also right on track and who knows what will happen if Goosen is having one of those crazy rounds. Retief’s showing sings of recovery after a long slump and he’s one of the few players who can score a low sixty at Augusta.
Personally I hope Casey can produce -for once- 4 consistent rounds, with that talent he really has to do better in the majors.
BTW; such a pity my favourite player is out; Couples missed the cut, which is a shocking thing at Augusta!

I dont play , but have watched the Masters for the last twenty odd years.
I dont really have a favourite player, but love to see a tight competition in fact watching Woods run away with it can be quite boring. Cant see him doing it this time though brilliant player that he is .
Its a unique event, both for prestige and the beautiful setting .
Im away to watch it now :)

Well done to Trevor. He had some bobbles, but also a few brilliant shots to hang on in tough conditions. Nobody else among the leaders was able to stay up there. Tiger was in the mix, as usual, but wasn't able to mount much of a challenge.

Trevor, congrats. The first South African in 30 years or so since Gary Player his idol.

If someone had told me a South African was going to win The MAsters I would have guessed Goosen.....
Well done Immelman, this pleases the South African part of me

Amazing from Immelman. He held very steady for a long time there. Even the ball being in that lovely divet on the last didn't phase him when he had dropped two shots on the previous hole.
Bravo Sir

Well done Immelman joining a strong contingent of major winners from SA.
Woods needs competition, and with the ball striking talent Immelman has I sense he's no one-hit wonder.
Woods amazingly who missed a lot of birdie putts this week and was in trouble 4 or 5 times in his first round still could have won if he had shot something under par on the final day,but it didn't happen.
All the brit lads failed, and after nearly all of them made strong starts.Poulter,Rose,Westwood,And Harrington all beaten by the Augusta legend.

Congratulations to Mr. Immelman (where did he come from????) I guess Roger's troubles are wearing off on Tiger? ha ha :lmaao:

The one thing i hate about our country is that the tend to go overboard when a sportsman actually does well.It goes on for days on end really.Dont even talk about the cricket team. The press get even more ridiculous.Immelman, deserves his spot in the limelight though but the press need to give it up now
Tenez - April 15, 2008 12:56 PM (GMT)
As you know I have always questioned the depth of this sport compared to tennis or footbal. Now that some youngsters are arriving to scene, Tiger is going to be more and more challenged. Tiger shoudl be compared to Borg but the tennis has really changed since and Gold will also change with "new" young tigers coming to maturity soon.
