Title: Dream Team
Description: What would be the perfect team?
welshboy91 - May 7, 2006 02:13 PM (GMT)
USA
V.Williams
S.Williams
L.Davenport
J.Capriati
M.Seles
L.Raymond (doubles)
Can anyone think of a better team?
The Dav - May 7, 2006 02:18 PM (GMT)
I think the best team for the US would be Venus and Serena Williams, Lindsay Davenport and Corina Morariu, three Slam singles champions, and two Slam winning doubles partnerships...
For Russia - Myskina, Sharapova, Dementieva and Kuznetsova, although I don't know who'd be together on a doubles team as they all hate each other roflmao

I'd definitely go with Kuznetsova, who is the most accomplished doubles player, and you gotta pick Elena for the Fed Cup.
bigskula - May 18, 2006 09:42 PM (GMT)
Actually, for Russia I think it would be quite interesting to include Kournikova in a doubles team with Kuznetsova (I assume it's from past OR present due to the inclusion of Seles). She may never have been a great singles player, but we can't forget her doubles skills - she was one half of the world no. 1 pairing after all!
Of the current crop, Kirilenko appears to have quite an interest in playing doubles, and has been doing not bad so far. If she continues this way, it would be good to see her and Kuzzy in a future Fed Cup doubles team.
Alli - June 6, 2006 01:07 PM (GMT)
yes Kournikova might be a good pick for the doubles, I don't really know about how the rest of the Russian women are at doubles
Scotsguy - July 9, 2006 07:41 PM (GMT)
Well judging by her wimbledon form Zvonareva could do it!!! :D :D
SerenaW19 - August 22, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
I think for the USA for a given tie the best possible team would be fore Serena and Venus to play the doubles and a singles match each and then for Lindsay to play singles match too; how could they lose?
For Belgium their dream team would be to have both Justine and Kim playing roflmao
dl04 - August 23, 2006 10:41 AM (GMT)
The dream USA team would be:
Lindsay
Venus
Serena
Capriati

Ye can't believe I forgot Capriati she would play the fourth singles match which I didn't mention.
ObL!v!0N - August 23, 2006 03:53 PM (GMT)

Hingis
Hingis
Hingis

Hingis

Good one about Maria roflmao
I think my all time US Fed Cup team would be something like this
BJK coach
Martina Navrat and Pam Shriver doubles
Singles rubbers:
Serena
Martina Navrat
Chrissie
Venus
Subs:
Venus and Serena for doubles
and Seles for singles
Oh and Oblivion what about Patty Schnyder for teh swiss team
She is Swiss number one after all roflmao
ObL!v!0N - August 23, 2006 07:02 PM (GMT)
She is only higher, coz Hingis fell well down the rankings, and had to climb back up. She won't be Swiss No. 1 after US Open.

ObL!v!0N - September 8, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Matchstick, I think you are the one in need of sympathy, as you are still watching that tripe that is Onion, and still believe it is a great game to watch, despite the boringfactor it contains.
Btw LDF, DL and Serena you may laugh at moi now, but you won't come the end of the year, when my statement will finally be true! B)

Well, I always thought she'd get the Swiss no.1 spot this year...
And she has! By reaching the Kolkata final, Martina will move up to number 8 in the world, 1 spot ahead of Schnyder :)
dl04 - September 23, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
Thank god Hingis deposes Schynder as swiss number 1, its the only thing Patty had going for her really roflmao
SerenaW19 - September 23, 2006 03:39 PM (GMT)
Swiss number one was hardly ever the coveted spot in women's tennis. They've only ever produced one decent female player that comes to mind
Now all we need to do is knock that pretender out of the top ten and our work will be done roflmao

you really hate Patty
SerenaW19 - September 24, 2006 11:22 AM (GMT)
I probably wouldn't mind Patty if she was like number 15 or something. The thing is she just isn't that good and it makes me sick to see her seeded 8 or whatever inGrand Slams
She has out stayed her welcome in the top ten :D
Hopefully Lindsay or Myskina will replace her, although I doubt tehy will be able to until Jan :(

Don't worry, I feel that the top ten will return to some sort of normality next year with the rubbish-ish players being pushed out by the return of Lindsay, Venus and Serena!
Bye bye Patty, Nadia, Nicola! :)

SerenaW19 - October 3, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
It's nothing personal yorkshire, but you will find that most of us WTA fans on here don't like Vaidisova at all. I find her personally overrated, but I don't hate her for that. It is her overall persona that comes accross as quite abhorrent in her matches, she is petulant, brattish and rude! Just my opinion of her of course nevertheless I don't like what I've seen of her
If someone can see the good in her (somewhere) then all credit to them though :D
SerenaW19 - October 3, 2006 10:41 PM (GMT)
I really like Dani and Maria btw though :D
chairman - October 8, 2006 07:16 PM (GMT)
In a couple of years serbia and montenegro might have one of the best team. Ivanovic and Jankovic look to be a force.
ObL!v!0N - October 8, 2006 08:13 PM (GMT)
Why don't GB have a Fed Cup team?
With a world-beater like Anne Keothavong in the team, we would surely do well. We could have Mel South, Katie O'Brein and Naomi Cavady as back-ups! ;)
