Title: Refurbishment
trisco - April 3, 2008 08:11 AM (GMT)
Hi folks,
Just to let you all know the strange look of the site is just a temporary thing.... normal service should be resumed by the weekend.
I have just realised due to my work using Internete Explorer 6 that not all browsers show PNG image files correctly, the banner above should just be white and without te grey background...
Back to the drawing board tonight I feel...

Does it not work if you convert the .png files to .jpg files?

Unfortunately not...
PNG files have the ability to be able to be transparent and not show the blank space within the image file.. jpegs don't.
The grey part people can see who aren't using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox (I think) is actually blank space but certain browsers do not have the ability to show the PNG as they should..

I didn't realise .png files allowed transparency. Don't .gif files allow transparency too? Might be worth a shot.

I tried the gif's last year for the French skin and unfortunately they didn't work either.
How hard is it for software companies to make their browsers compatible with standard image files..... :angry3:

The banner on mine is grey, and with that green. black and dark blue it all looks far too dark like before. The bit where it says CC(free form Havoc) practically dissappears into the background. Iasked George about the browser, this PC has Explorer 4 and we can't upgrade - the PC doesn't like it apparently cos Geroge says he tried to install 6 (same as he used at work) a while back.

I use Opera at home and it looked fine on that this morning... okay only 11 other people in the world use Opera but I thought you'd like to know anyway

I think photobucket as an alternative is not a bad idea.. at least two things I really like about them( for their free service)... You can actually organize the photos.. plus you can actually delete stuff...unlike some face ppl...and imageshack which makes deleting convoluted. And you can upload a larger sized media file unlike image shack.
But image shack makes it easier to randomly anonymously post stuff and link without logging in which is cool. I'm sure image shack will sort their services out ..probably suffering form severe bandwidth or storage problems.
I realized png files always appeared like crap on the site sometimes.. I thought
I was doing something wrong... but then I use firefox more often than not ..so maybe that's just why. Firefox has all my bookmarks and too many useful add-ons that I can't migrate to IE7 thats why. Opera seems to work okay.
I guess most of the files Trisco will put up aren't that big...but for a long term user Photobucket is great... Though , Fox networks are in some talks to buy Photobucket... Given Fox networks conservative inclinations ala Rupert Murdoch...
don't know what the future holds for the Site..

im using firefox at home. the only problem is that the green bars at the top arent underneath the 'Centre Court' sign, there to the right of it, extending the width of the page.
Scotsguy - April 5, 2008 11:06 PM (GMT)
Yeah same is happening for me Kerry.
Lex - April 6, 2008 12:19 AM (GMT)
I have noticed that the background image is huge! It extends twice the width of the writing area. Is there any chance of reducing its width Trisc?
Edit: just looked again and it looks like the image is tiled making it look bigger, dunno if that affects performance though.

trisco - April 13, 2008 10:44 PM (GMT)
Glad you like BT :ok:

SuperBRAT - April 14, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
Hey I love the logo too and the blue is nice.
Just oen thing - apologies if you are still working on it whcih might explain why it has changed - but the screen is very bright and there is poor contrast on the lines around posts when you quote. In fact I can hardly see them. And the font size was bette rin the transitional stage.

Tis indeed :ok:
I'll crack on with the rest when I get home tonight. I spent last night at a friends, fixing her I.T. getup until the early hours of this morning and am a tad cream crackered now.
