Entries for our Miami AMS pick 'em competition are now open. You can access the entry form via http://www.britishtennis.net/Competitions.html - if you want to wait until qualifiers have been placed in the draw rather than having to pick them 'blind', the entry form with qualifiers placed will be available very soon after the draw is updated with qualifiers on the ATP site, which should be mid-late Tuesday evening UK time. The results at the end of day 1 will be accessible via that same link before the start of day 2 and intra-day updates will appear from day 2 onwards.

IMPORTANT: In order for your ranking points from this competition to be combined with your ranking points from earlier pick 'ems, you need to enter with EXACTLY the same name as you used for previous pick 'ems - even an extra space or a single missing character may be enough to throw the system. If in doubt, please copy the name after the 'Hi' at the top of this email and paste it into the entry form. If you want to change the name or team you use for pick 'em permanently, please email btpickem@hotmail.com after you enter Miami to let us know what you have changed it from or to instead of just entering with a new name and hoping that we spot that it is the same person!

PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS Because of the tight timescales and the ever-increasing number of boards/forums taking part, I won't have time to go round and advertise this competition everywhere as I have done in the past, so if you think that other people from your board/forum might like to take part too, I would be really grateful if you would set up a thread or post about the competition there if nobody else from your board has already done so.

ENTRY DEADLINE The entry deadline is when play is due to start in the main draw, i.e. 15.00 GMT / 3 pm UK / 16.00 CET / 11.00 US Eastern / 08.00 US Pacific tomorrow, WEDNESDAY. However, because both of us running the competition have limited availability on Wednesday/Thursday, please enter by 09.30 GMT on Wednesday if you can. Entries received between 09.30 and 15.00 GMT will be included, but may not appear on results updates until the start of day 3.

LATE CHANGES TO THE DRAW If you can, please use the Print button at the bottom of the entry form to print your picks before you send your entry so that you have a record of them. The page you will see after sending your entry will explain what your options are if there are any changes to the draw due to late withdrawals before play starts.

ATP BRACKET CHALLENGE The ATP has started to run a competition that works in a very similar way (but with different scoring) for the remaining 8 AMS events, which they call the 'bracket challenge'. Since they have thrown a fair bit of money at their competition, it has some advantages, e.g. a proper login system so that you do not have to make your picks all at once, tens of thousands of entrants, a few prizes, etc. Conversely, our competition has its own advantages linked to it being run just for fun by volunteers and not being quite so huge, e.g. you will be able to see the results for all players on one page making it easier to compare your results with those of your friends and engage in a bit of friendly banter, we have a teams competition and robots to compare yourselves against which should keep things interesting even if you are not right at the top and we cover the slams as well as most of the AMS events.

The good thing is that it is easy to enter both competitions if you want to, since once you have worked out your selections for one, it should take only a minute or two to fill them in on the other entry form too, assuming that you decide to use all or most of the same selections for both. If you do decide to enter both, hopefully your past experience in this competition will help you to do well in their competition too! Good luck :-) Steven
