Title: F1 2008
Pebs - March 16, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)
 yaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy for Hamilton :yahoo:
loss of traction control seems to have made the race a lot more interesting and the fact that only seven or so cars made it to the end is quite telling - looks like a good season ahead.
Hopefully one that will pick up for Button
Pebs - March 16, 2008 01:33 PM (GMT)
 how could I forget to say - Nico!!!! Fab stuff :yahoo:
Lex - March 16, 2008 01:46 PM (GMT)
yep :D I was really pleased for Nico, he's my fave F1 driver. I hope he has a really good year.
Bummer for Jens though
Pebs - March 16, 2008 03:00 PM (GMT)
one last comment about todays race... :giggle: Coulthard and his straight talking which took ITV1 viewers by surprise today... apparently if Massa doesnt admit to his responsiblity in their clash today which resulted in David taking a right old tumble out of the race, he is going to 'kick three different colours of shit out of the bastard'...
cue gobsmacked silence from the ITV1 commentary crew and huge giggles from me....

Three of my friends from my school have VIP tickets for the Malaysian Grand Prix next week. Lucky them!

Great win for Lewis :D :D
A good day for the young-uns it seems. I have a feeling Ferrari will be back for the next race but I have a feeling this will be the season Lewis does it.

I know! I'm not an F1 fan but I think being there would be really cool. They are involved in some F1 dragster competition (it sounds more exciting than it actually is!) and they were 2nd in the national competition and they qualified for the world finals in Kuala Lumpar. Plus they miss about two weeks of school.

I would love to go to an F1 meet. List of things I want to do - go to Twickenham for a six nations match.. go to Wimbers cos shame of shame, I have never been and lastly, go to F1...
might need my lottery win first
Lex - March 17, 2008 06:40 AM (GMT)
I can match you with two of those hun, I've never been to an F1 race or Twickers either
It's bloody ages since I went to Wimbers too :(
One of my pals was over in Germany with her family last year and her hubby got invited to go to Spa, he got a pit pass and everything :(2
He doesn't even like F1, it would have been much kind to have donated the tickets to her, she may have even invited me along too :yep:
Mind you she was pretty much at term with her second daughter at that time of year... and I was in hospital....
but he could have offered *pouts*
:lmaao:
Buttercup - March 18, 2008 04:28 PM (GMT)
congrats to Lewis, will this be another highly successful season for him?
i hope so, its so much fun winding my friend up who an Alonso fan
Brakkus - March 19, 2008 02:34 PM (GMT)
Go Lewis, although the hyperbole has started already.
Ali,Tiger. Please these men have proven themselves already in the heat of battle, not to mention they are cultural icons.
Give it time, like at least 5 years.

I did laugh when I heard the Tiger Woods and Ali comparisons. Wasn't it Jackie Stewart who the press originally quoted and then blew it out of all proportion?
If Lewis Hamilton is Tiger Woods then I'm Nigel Mansell (before he got fat and couldn't fit in his car)... ;) ;)

Mr. Lex dude I made a pitstop there just the other day, although only to catch up and I didn't post. I'll be posting up in there soon!!
Lex - March 20, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
Good to hear matey :ok:
btw - did you hear? The Beeb have got F1 back as from next year!!
No more ads :yahoo:
No more James Allen :yahoo:
I wonder if they'll still have 'The Chain' as intro music

They will DEFINITELY use it I bet. If not so many people will write in and complain it is not the theme they will hae earache....
It will be great not having ad breaks, although apart from that and James Allen wanting to get married to Lewis Hamilton the ITV coverage hasn't been that bad, other than the fact they have an hours build up when 30 mins will do.
Lex - March 20, 2008 11:18 AM (GMT)
hehe - you should see the German coverage - it was on all last Sunday morning from about 4:30 to 1:30
It was handy being able to flip between the channels when the ads came on B)
Brakkus - March 20, 2008 01:21 PM (GMT)
I'm interested to find out what the opening theme music will be,and who the commentary team will be.
I always preferred BBC coverage of Formula 1,and like Match of the Day,some things just don't belong on ITV.
Just doesn't feel right.
Gav - March 20, 2008 01:24 PM (GMT)
I will miss Martin Brundle on the startup grid taking the mickey out of Bernie Ecclestone. He really manages to make Bernie squirm. I hope the BBC poach him :yep:

Wasn't ITV who poached Brundle when they took it off the BBC?
Hopefully they will return the compliment :P

they gotta
Scotsguy - March 21, 2008 09:17 AM (GMT)
Hamilton was fastest in practice today in Malaysia, hopefully bodes well for this weekend......
As for F1 going back to the BBC, I have to say I can't recall when it wasn't on ITV......must have been a couple of years ago......
I agree with Brakkus though, there are some things that belong to the Beeb....can you imagine if ITV got hold of Wimbledon :yikes:
Lex - March 21, 2008 09:33 AM (GMT)
there'd be ad breaks during every end change like on German TV :yikes: and sometimes between games
F1's been on ITV for the last 12 years. Apparently Richard Hammond will anchor when it goes to the beeb
I wonder if he'll have an ex-driver as a sidekick?

that's worrying 'cos i remember it going to ITV and there being uproar about what they would do about advert breaks etc etc.
On a slightly different subject, I watched some of the moto GP on eurosport the other week and the commentators had me in hysterics!!!

stop saying things I agree with! :P
I love Martin - and I used to love his double act with Murray.. I must see if the exchange they had over a team making way for Schumi is about anywhere... Martins sly inference about why the team moved over and Murrays delayed reaction had me in hysterics...

Julian and Toby are brilliant on Eurosport, and make the Moto GP worth watching on their double act alone.

Ferrari showing some true pace in Malaysia and locking out the front row of the grid in qualifying. Lewis had to settle for 4th behind his teammate.

just read the report on the beeb - didnt catch the qualifying - Ferrari sounding very dominant...
hope Hamilton takes the victory though
Pebs - March 22, 2008 11:57 AM (GMT)
ooo, this wont help Lewis - but if they did, then thats just naughty...
from the beeb:
McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen have been penalised five grid places for impeding rivals during qualifying at the Malaysian Grand Prix.
The pair had been on the second row but Kovalainen will now start in eighth ahead of his British team-mate.
After qualifying they were summoned by the stewards to answer complaints they held others up in the last session.
BMW Sauber's Nick Heidfeld and Renault driver Fernando Alonso said they were impeded on their flying laps in Sepang. Beeb report
Lex - March 22, 2008 12:14 PM (GMT)
*goes green too*
Looks like it could be a Ferrari 1-2 this weekend. Hamilton and Kovaleinen have been relegated 5 places down the grid for impeding Heidfeld. They were 4th and 3rd on the grid respectively with Massa on pole with Raikonnen in 2nd.
Should be an interesting race, especially if it rains

oops, didn't see your post hun
Heidfeld said earlier that they weren't aware that qualifying was still going on, but they were plumb on the racing line and Heidfeld had to go around them losing time.

well that was interesting..
*waits until much later to say anything about the results just in case*
;)
Brakkus - March 23, 2008 01:32 PM (GMT)
Tough weekend for Hamilton, but like a certain Mr Shumacher before him,he got something out of the race, and a couple of points here and there are better than a retirement.
Considering he lost the championship by 1 point last season, you could consider this weekend a success.
Lex - March 23, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
yep, I was only saying to Mrs Lex that he seems to have the luck that Schumi and other champions had.
Pity about the wheel change or else I reckon he'd have had 3rd all else continuing the same way..
Massa!
Pebs - March 23, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
well done Kimmi (shes says through gritted teeth)
and does anybody else keep expecting to her cokey after they say Heikki?
