Main Doubles Draw

The top seeds are the Bryan twins- will they have a more successful tournament this week?

All the main pairs in action this week. The strength of the field is clear, with Llodra and Clement only ranked #7. #2 are Aspelin and Knowle and #3 are Nestor and Zimonjic.

Yep, disappointing but on a big plus note Jamie and Max have just beaten Clement and Llodra 76(4) 64

Dinky Jo - March 18, 2008 10:19 PM (GMT)
and Andy will be able to focus on singles

good win for Miryni and Murray against Clement/Llodra - they are a good team so i'm impressed that it didn't go to a tie-break at least, and even more impressed that they won :D

Well, he should be concentrating on singles now anyway.

Also, Gasquet and whatever his partner's name is -- oh yes, Lindstedt -- just beat Bjorkman and Ullyett.

So I guess they're not all that bad together ...

Murnyi defeated the Bryans. :o  :yahoo:

Erliram are up next - they haven't dropped a set yet, so that will be another tough match.

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

that's a couple of wins that Murray and Miryni have had over the Bryans :ok:

Scotsguy - March 20, 2008 12:35 PM (GMT)
Murray picks up over 200 points from Indian Wells-the biggest total of his tennis career- SHould push him back up to about 31 which is close to his career high ranking.

Brakkus - March 20, 2008 01:26 PM (GMT)
Cracking win for Myrni and Murray, looks like their partnership is starting to gel.I wonder this year is it too early to predict a deep run into slam for them.
I would imagine it's harder to develop a doubles slam team, than a singles game which is capable of great things, because their are much more intangibles attatched to doubles.
Creating the magic that can lift 2 good players into an extraordinary team is the hard bit.

SuperBRAT - March 20, 2008 01:34 PM (GMT)
YAY! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

Great win for Murray and Mirnyi but I thought it possible. The Bryans aren't as invincilbe as everyone thinks. Hope they can go on and win :ok:

It'll be tough against Erliram - they've been in such good form this year, and they just beat one of the in-form teams so far this year in straight sets.

Go Murnyi!

ATP Main Draw Doubles - Semifinals
[3] D Nestor (CAN) / N Zimonjic (SRB) d R Gasquet (FRA) / R Lindstedt (SWE) 75 62
[4] J Erlich (ISR) / A Ram (ISR) d M Mirnyi (BLR) / J Murray (GBR) 63 64

Shame that Murnyi didn't make it through but as Sctosguy said, this is a major step up for Jamie and his partnership with Max looks very promising!

Erlich and Ram for the title!

Tenez - March 21, 2008 08:54 AM (GMT)
Who is this Lindstedt playing with Gasquet? Never heard of him before. Who does he play with ususally? They had a good run too.

Looks like Zymo and Nestor are the team in form at the moment.

Scotsguy - March 21, 2008 09:08 AM (GMT)
Tenez, Lindstedt has been around for a fair amount of time....he used to play with Aspelin before Aspelin joined up with Knowle. Lindstetdt played a few match with Johansson earlier this year, beating M&M once and then losing to them the next week.

This week sure, but prior to this they had had a pretty poor season, the two form teams were really Erlich/Ram and Bhupathi/Knowles.....

In contrast the Bryans have been a mere blip on the radar this year

Dinky Jo - March 22, 2008 09:11 AM (GMT)
Ooooh......Erliram won :yahoo: well done to them :ok: they're having a really good year so far.

Scotsguy - March 22, 2008 10:25 AM (GMT)
The Bryan's are definitely in slump at the moment....they've reached 4 finals this year but are yet to win a title and failed to make an impact at the two main events this year so far....

MissSospanFach - March 22, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
Just to confirm...

ATP Main Draw Doubles - Final
[4] J Erlich (ISR) / A Ram (ISR) d [3] D Nestor (CAN) / N Zimonjic (SRB) 64 64

Great result for the Israelis, or the smilers as I like to call them! It'll be another disappointing loss for Nestor and Zimonjic.
