Another player who had a good run last week suffered a comical defeat today - Seppi going down in straight sets to De Voest.
Top seed Ljubicic sadly got through in straight sets against Gulbis. He should win his next match too, but then the mug will lose to Ancic or Haase.
Speaking of Ancic, dunno if anyone knows what's happening with him? He's due to play Mahut a bit later but I heard he's picked up another injury :banghead: so not sure how far he can go this week, if he even plays that match. :(
Dinky Jo - February 26, 2008 06:16 PM (GMT)
well, Ancic is currently a break down against Mahut in the first set
Dinky Jo - February 26, 2008 07:02 PM (GMT)
:yahoo: Ancic took the first set in a tie-break

Doesn't look like Ernests Gulbis (The Future of Tennis ) has been having a particularly good year so far ... :P
Dinky Jo - February 27, 2008 11:53 AM (GMT)

Lucky loser in qualifying Stakhovsky has just reached the final of the ATP Zagreb tournament. He's beaten Bolelli 6-4, 6-4. Hopefully, he'll face Ancic in the final, who's up against Ivan "Interesting" Ljubicic in the other semi.
In Memphis, the winner of the Roddick vs Soderling match will be favourite for the tournament, but I'd expect another choke from the Sod after last week's performance even if he does win today. Nice to see Donald Young performing creditably here this week - he's up against Bjorkman in his QF, although I'm confident that the Swede's experience will shine through there.

I don't like Young, so I really hope that Bjorkman wins.....

Zagreb features the worst ATP final in tennis history: Ivan Losercic vs a lucky loser. Move along folks, nothing to see here.

I like Ancic but I am so glad Lubo proved once again his worth. The most underated player out there. I actually think his game is great and with a better footwork he 'd be back in the top 6.
Ferrer does not get half the bad press as Lubo, yet I think his game is more boring.

Don't. Call him. Lubo. Call him. Ljubo. That. Would. Be. An. Insult. To. L'ubomir. Moravcik.

I am with you Tenez about Lubo: well done- His game is far from being an easy one to handle on an indoor court ..Well done Lubo: the competition was not so high this week a part from Ancic but nevertheless, not so bad to see him back
Happy for Sodo as well: It could be that he will be able to break this season and achieve even on big occcasions, we will see.

The Sod is probably in the top 5 players indoors. His win over Roddick was way more emphatic than the scoreline suggests; he didn't face any break points and earned loads on the Roddick serve. I'm not a fan, but would be nice to see him reach his potential - he always seems to bottle it at the end of tournaments.
His match against Stepanek will be interesting today, since Stepanek is in my opinion a slightly better version of Llodra, who Soderling lost to in the Rotterdam final when he probably shouldn't have, even if Llodra is always a tricky player.
Also nice to see Bjorkman still alive and kicking - he saved a match point against Young and should beat Darcis (although Darcis thrashed Haas' conqueror Becker 6-1, 6-0 last night :yikes: ). He'll be a dangerous opponent for whoever makes the final for sure.

Did you se that match? How can you judge anything? I, I did NOT so I cannot judge  (BTW: the last time a LL player won a ATP title was 17 years ago, means '91..the beginning of the era of Lions or was it a weak era, given that you are using this fact for this purpose :yikes: )
I mean it is like the Sodo Darcis..
For someone who did not follow the match live well the conclusion would be: Shame on Sodo..
Reality check, nevertheless, I had the opportunity to see the match live, well it was all Darcis:
Sodo did play well actually, it happened that it was Darcis imposing his will..(happy for him BTW)
But Ok: You "need" (usual reason behind: FED is the king of loser so talents ECT..) to demonstrate (by using several accounts if needed) that this is a weak era and Tennis is cr@p.
So you will not stop this sort of "remarks" :bs: based on reading a score line without watching a single match. BTW: Do you remember Wise? 2 years ago, more or less - do not forcve me to post your contribution right?- you told me that the main weapon of Lubo was his FH  when it is well known that at his peak the main asset was his BH.
This is a proof if needed that you are judging without following. But Ok you are stuck in the '90 and on your hate of FED. :coffee:
BTW: The same reamarks apply as well on Amagro victory against Nalbi..Weak era my A**** :crazy1: : just the contrary, win an event after another has never been so complicate IMO
