Title: Champions League

Now we are getting down to the nitty gritty, what do you think will happen this round? I think Lpool and Chelsea will lose tonight. But my beloved Arsenal will win the title

I'm a Milan fan, but they're a bunch of geriatrics these days and play like it in Serie A. Their experience can still tell the difference in the Champions League, but I think Arsenal should win, which wouldn't bother me cos I love the football they play.
Liverpool are the most laughable, overrated team on the planet. The only reason I wouldn't mind them winning tonight is because Inter are the second most overrated team on the planet. But hopefully they'll lose soon enough so they can get back to fighting for the 4th spot with Everton and Villa. Big 4 my ass. :lmaao:
Can't see Chelsea losing to Olympiakos - and my tip for the CL this season would be Real Madrid, who've been very impressive this season, shortly followed by Man United.

I'm a Celtic fan and I'm effing nervous ahead of tomorrow's match. I was surprised to read complimentary stuff from Chick Young on the BBC as well as from the Spanish Hun Nacho Novo (well, he was actually trying to help Barca, although he's totally useless...). I really believe that we're going to beat Barca 2-1 tomorrow, we've only lost once at Celtic Park in CL (alright, that was against Barca, but they really aren't the team they were in the time of yore), we're playing really well at the moment while Barca are performing pish.
And Wee Naka has promised to score a goal ;) He did it twice against ManU last season, so I'm hopeful that he'll do it again. I really hope that Barca will play 4-3-3, that'll give McGeady and Naka lots of space.
Wee update: Materazzi got sent off

Half-time update: Celtic up 2-1 against Barca :yahoo:

Forza Milan. Forza Milano. :chesire: The Rossonieri hold out for a 0-0 at Arsenal and will probably go through now at fortress San Siro.
Man United looked in a bit of trouble at Lyon but got a late equaliser which makes them big favourites for this tie.
Celtic performed creditably in going down 3-2 at home to Barca.
My tip for the tournament Real Madrid actually lost yesterday  but got an away goal and should see off an average Roma team at the Bernabeu.
Inter Milan provided a timely reminder of the idiocy of the people who claimed they were the best team in Europe. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is even more overrated than Steven Gerrard. Good riddance - just hope Liverpool get shown up for the mugs they are in the QF.
The Chelsea and Sevilla matches are both in the balance, with those two teams probably favourites to progress. The Schalke vs Porto tie is obviously completely irrelevant.

SH*T, that's our second home defeat in CL.
We played so well in the 1st half, to score two goals was a true achievement. However, in the 2nd half, the defence kept giving the ball away to Barca and payed the price.
I gotta admit that Barca's a truly amazing team though, they made over 500 successful passes tonight! I guess that they deserve their victory as they overrun us, but the result might have been different had the defence performed respectably. WGS's was too rash with his tactics tbh, making Barry Robson start for the first time against Europe's finest as well as making Wilson enter the pitch for the first time in 6 months when Caddis was playing well. Robson was absolute shite even if he scored a goal (the best team he's ever played against in competition is Celtic) and Wilson got absolutely flattened by Henry.
Anyway, what matters this season is the league, and I am proud that we are playing at such a high level against top notch teams like Barca.

What a frustrating match for Arsenal. Putting saturday firmly behind them, they produced an awesome display, totally dominating current European Champs Milan, yet couldnt get that goal :(

I was pretty disapointed with uniteds peformance tonight against Lyon although we didnt play too bad we should have won that game with the side we have but still we should win pretty easily at old trafford.

I'd be happy if I were you - Lyon clearly dominated throughout. Don't underestimate them MN, I certainly have huge respect for them ever since they beat the Huns 3-0 at Castle Greyskull :tsk:

Right - we're in for some more Champs league fitba next week. I'm not very nervous tae be honest, cos I know Celtic's gonna get punted oot of European fitba illico presto. I'm *kinda* hoping that WGS plays a B squad although I seriously doubt he will as that wouldn't appear tae be very bellicose. Playing the usual guys would be rather useless, the Wee man's only going tae have 'em knackered - play Mizuno and O'dea, Gordon.
Murraynator - March 2, 2008 06:22 PM (GMT)
Lets be honest Man utd are gonna win it this year no doubt

ManU and Gunners through, Celtic out.
Grand performance by Celtic tonight, decent attacking, we were unlucky to concede the only goal of the match 3 minutes after the start. Too bad Naka didn't score in the very last minute, it was a superb shot he made. 1-1 would have been such a result. We learned many things from this match too: JVOH is too slow to play upfront alone, the back-four is competent when composed, Donati's pish, Sno is no joke figure and either Samaras or Skippy is needed in such a match. Well done bhoys. Celtic MOTM: Boruc and McGeady.

Arsenal were just magic tonight

I am a Spurs fan but not a "I must hate Arsenal because I am a Spurs Fan" kind of Spurs fan. To be honest I have never understood that and I am indeed a local fan. I pride myself in being a football fan first.
And last night that performance from Arsenal has to be one the the greatest away performance by an English team in the Champions League. It's right up there with Manchester United's 3-2 win in Juventus when they were 2-0 down and looking out of the competition. The English teams look good this year (well I say English....but we know that it's mainly foreign players in the top 4 teams over here).
Great performance from Arsenal. They dominated the champions and scored two fantastic goals

Mixed results in the QF.
Excellent win for Man United in Roma - the 2-0 scoreline, if a little flattering, almost definitely secures their place through. Likewise Barca, who struggled to a 1-0 win at one of the worst teams ever to reach this stage of the tournament.
Sadly, football lost in tonight's match at the Emirates, with Arsenal's genius being held to a 1-1 draw by the boring, overrated Liverpool. If Arsenal play the same way at Anfield they'll win easily, but sadly I think they'll fold and the Scousers' absurdly lucky European streak will continue. :angry3:
Finally, Chelsea continued their comedy streak of choking in the big matches since Mourinho's depature with a 2-1 defeat at Fenerbahce. I feel sorry for Avram Grant, and away legs in Turkey are always difficult - and Fena are a decent team - but if they don't get the job done at Stamford Bridge, which is entirely plausible, his job will almost certainly be gone at the end of the season.

Liverpool's my favourite club after Celtic, so that's good news for me :ok:
I feel sorry for Arsder though. It wasn't so long ago that they looked odds on to win a double.

Chelsea!
Don't particularly like them, but anyone who stops the luckiest, most overrated team in this competition's history reaching another undeserved final merits applause. :chesire:
Will probably be cheering for a United victory in Moscow though.

You never know which Drogba is going to step onto the pitch.
The magnificent skilful, powerful, quick, ruthless athlete with an eye for a goal and the will to run and run for his team...
The spiteful diver who winds everyone up, embarrasses his own support, and wastes his considerable talent....
I don't think that there is a Premiership Club, or possibly even a club in all of Europe, that would not put the good Drogba first on its teamsheet.
I, for one, am glad that good Drogba turned up for the last two matches at the Bridge, roll on Moscow and I hope West Ham put in the performance of their lives this weekend..... :ok:
Harry Potter - May 2, 2008 12:11 PM (GMT)
I'm happy for Avram Grant and Rafa Benitez has only got himself to blame. He played silly mind games by dubbing Drogba a diver, look how the Big Ivorian responded!
