Choking? Playing with 10 men because someone lied about the extent of his foul to rile up a notoriously fiery player like Rooney sent off aint choking. It was a testament to the squad they managed to take it to penalties without their star player

The English crowds seemed to forget the whole winking incident pretty quickly didn't they? And the press too..

Ronaldo is just about as skillful at wizardry as myself and considering that I'm sure that he knows how to cast an obliviate charm very efficiently. Such a flick of a boot is no different from my flick of a wand.

Rooney didn't have the discipline and stamped a guy. He got a red card for it......thats all.

England had such a great squad. When it came to the penalties what did the big players like Gerrard and Lampard do ??.......

I remember a big deal was made of em but all they did was disappoint, just like Murray is doing now.

But Rooney wasnt getting sent off for it until Ronaldos theatrics

Well I mean he was being hyped up more than Novak at one point for example.....and his results aren't even close to as good as Novak's.

Ronaldo behaved like a bit of a tosser, I agree, but I don't think that we can blame Rooney's sending off on Ronaldo.

I thought the stamp looked awful, but I agree it was one of those decisions that different Referees could have approached differently and, intent or not, for a top-class player Rooney let himself down with a pretty indisciplined act. He's only got himself to blame.

We did badly in the World Cup because the team did not add up to anything like the sum of its constituent parts. It was only when they were up against it a man down that they started extracting from themselves something close to what they could have done - if they had got into that habit before the Portugal game they would have gone through and deserved to.

I firmly believe that we got what we deserved in the World Cup and I can't see the point in harbouring grudges against a silly young man who still has a fair bit of growing up to do but who at his best can light up a football pitch with his skill and is a pretty brave player too.
