The bottom draw looks much stronger than the top one....especially if Djoko is still sick as I expect him to be.

True, but Murray is still likely to have quite a tough second round match against Grosjean or Wawrinka.

Yes, you're right. The Eurosport results service took ages to change the scoreline, despite the fact I was pressing the refresh button every 10 seconds!

Have you tried the live scoreboard? it's *generally* (and I say that with hesitance because it often crashes at the most inopportune moments) a bit more reliable and updates much more regularly than eurosport.

hmmm, Tsonga beaten by Ancic.

Tsonga could be the male equivalent of Bartoli.
Reaches a Slam final with a clutch of shock results but then post Grand Slam success fails to deliver...

So CHoka-are you getting worried about that promise you made when you said you'd start calling Maria by her real name if she didn't cheat before Roland Garros???

Oh, I thought you said she had to have a clean record up until RG before you would.....

So is she just Sharapova now-or does she have a new name???

It's not a big news. Tsonga lost 2 tight sets (he had 2 break back points in the first set but was unlucky). Facing a big serve like Ancic is always going to be a bit of lottery. Rotterdam shoudl be another test for him.

sounds noteworthy to me... :ok:

its sad, but chokas right :(

Tenez - February 13, 2008 07:58 PM (GMT)
Those upsets happen everyday. Especially if this 135th is Ancic who we know should be ranked higher. Another day, another outcome.

I think the margins between 100th and 6th player in the world are paper thin. That's how good the ATP level is. From 1 to 5 they have a slight edge up.

liam_valid - February 13, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
The skill level maybe is paper thin, but the difference in belief and confidence should have given tsonga a big edge. Maybe his head is still in the clouds?

Scotsguy - February 13, 2008 08:11 PM (GMT)
To be honest I really feel that JWT will follow in the footsteps of those various other AO finalists who then lost the plot....

Tenez - February 13, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
Cmon guys. Tsonga lost a match and you have burried him already. If he stays injury free, he should stay in the top 20 for some times, nothing more nothing much less.

I think there was maybe just too much hyope after his run to the Oz Open final, he is a good player but I have my doubts he will be repeating that feat again. Absolutely a top 20 player but perhaps that's as good as it gets...

Yeah but you could say, Tsonga had 1 great tournament and all of a sudden he's the next big thing

Hype works both ways...

exactly... :ok:

Tenez - February 13, 2008 11:18 PM (GMT)
There is no hype in reaching a slam final where all the best players of the world played. He beat Murray, Youszhny, Gasquet, Nadal, all convincingly. He won his match to qualify France for the DC 1/4 final this week end and...and.....just happened to lose a close match against a refreshed former top 10. Nothing to be ashamed of really. If he goes out in the 1st round in his next 3 tournaments then yes I 'll see your point but until then I am not going to panick!

Gonzo, Baggy are also great players hoovering between top 20 and top 10. Tsonga will be happy to stay around with them.
