Dark_Necrofear™ - February 6, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
Anyone seen this?It opens here this Friday andthe trailer seems quite hectic.I heard it was shot in The Blair Witch Project style. Its a Godzilla type flick, cant wait.

I have seen this DN dude. You will love it. It's excellent. The juddery camery may make you feel a little ill on the big screen, but it's a fantastic film.
It's definitely Blair Witch meets Godzilla....just the right type of film. :ok:

Now if I told you that would be spoiling the film for you. But the fact that I say the monster is awesome probably gives that one away! ;)

I've seen both Liam and there is seriously no competition. Cloverfield simply shits all over AVP Requiem. But then I was really dissapointed with AVP.

Well I saw this on Friday.I must say that it was brilliant.I just didnt really think that the whole Blair Witch thing with the friend with the camera was necessary for a movie of this calibre.Other than that it was a great film!

I agree its a great film. I was a big fan of the Blair Witch though and find the whole set up so much more atmospheric than a normal movie. Now it said in the daily mirror that its going to make movie history by having the sequel the same as the first film, in that its going to be exactly the same story, but by a different bunch of people with the camera, maybe from a military point of view for example. I dont know how true this is but i also heard the girl who escaped via helicopter near the end has alreadt signed up for a sequel too
great movie though :D
Scotsguy - February 13, 2008 11:42 AM (GMT)
JJ Abrams was behind it so I am certainly excited about it, when the first preview came out (you know the one with the Statue of Liberty's head flying through the air) it looked amazing. I love the idea of making a film that nobody really knows what it's about which has been an incredible use of hype by their PR folk....
As for AVP Requiem-It got 1 star in Empire-so noy way am I going to see it....

I haven't heard fo it but if I am beign told it's like Blari Witch then I am hardly inspired. I am a huge horror fan but BWP was giggest load of over hyped b*llocks I have ever seen. Sorry  Oh and it was unscary. And unoriginal - the shaky camera in the woods comes form Evil Dead I think, Sam Raimi, and there are several films with the same idea like Last Broadcast. Had it nto bene for the internet that film woudl never ha dmade a dime.

Well I will watch anythign once so I won't rule it out. Glad I'm nto the onyl oen who thinks BWP was shit. I was so lookign forward to it then it was a hyge let down for me. And that woman with the wooly hat - i was just so wanting her to get killed cos she was really irritating
I never got how some youngsters said that was scary and yet thought the Exorcist was tame  How times have changed!
Anyway this Cloverfield thingie havign just read the ending sound sliek ti borrowed the helicopter bit from Zombies Dawn of the Dead, my fave (Romero Original that is.) I wonder also if they've takne somethign form those low budget ones with that swamp monster in it, can't remeber them. think I've seen tooo many horros flicks and you just don't find and original plot any more. And I like demonic possession good v evil ones and they can never match the Omen and Exorcist, or witchcraft - they never match Rosemarys Baby. That film is not graphic but really creepy. Scares me anyway :yikes: I think nowadays they have moved to too many remakes cos they ran out of ideas and very graphic torture/porn horror which I absolutely find vile.
Pebs - February 16, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
I have never seen Rosemarys baby - I loved the story - read it many times - I should make an effort to get the film.
and yeah, I thought BWP was a huuuuuuge let down and totally agree about the woman with the hat - all that heavy breathing - she should be in porn not horror!

hi SB. the only thing similar to Blair Witch is the camcorder, and as Hiro said, it works much better in this genre. You will love it :D

 I know!
Yeah Rosemary's Baby hardly ever comes on TV. I taped it, I think it is by Polanski and has Mia Farrow in it. It's quite old, late 60s I think, but they create the atmophere of the woman being trapped and having nowhere to turn so well.

I actually liked Blair Witch, but i often sat there waiting for something to happen, thinking 'this aint scary'
in Cloverfield, i was that immersed in what was happening, it was like i was part of the gang with the camera, or at least felt like i was watching real footage. Theyve done a tremendous job in that respect
