Anyone have any nice as ideas for savoury ones? And an involving smoked salmon cos I have loads to eat. :D I suppose I cna put cream cheese in with the salmon? Or creme fraiche and dill but 'im indoors hates dill  Anywa share your pancake experinces mad or otherwise :D

Btw I once had to fill sweet pancakes so I put bacradi, lime and cream in them

Dinky Jo - February 4, 2008 10:50 PM (GMT)

Yeah it's fine for a dessert, but I can't eat that as my main course though. I'd be sick! We used to get that Jiff lemon and sugar as kids though but my tastes have changed. I don't liek maple syrup either, mayeb my Bacardi and lime wasn't so bad after all :D

Sounds tasty. I can immagine courgettes in it and some cheese :D

Tbh I eat savoury pancakes most weekends with cheese and onion and whatever else is around, but Geroge makes them so I never have to bother. I mus look up that pancake batter mix and get some eggs. Marguerite Patten here I come. :D

it used to just be spaghetti bolgnaise in a pancake  i might have a go at making some tomorrow, although it seems kind of against the spirit of pancake day to go and buy ingredients to make pancakes

I had to go out and buy some special - I used up all our ingredients at the weekend...

I was quite amused today at tea when micro solemnly informed me she would give up chocolate and cake for lent and mini decided he would give up school and vegetables - wish I had thought of that as a kid!

Yeah I know what you mean  I don't like to jump bandwagons myself I was just asked to make some out of the blue! Anyway if i do them crap he won't ask again

Spag bol in a pancake - I could eat that :ok: Or chilli, why not cos tortillas are kind of like pancakes. I could always shove my speciality curried chickpeas in there  Kinda feel they work better with naan or chapatis though.

Btw there used to a restaurant called Pizza 1 Pancakes 2 in Bethnal Green. They did spag bol pancakes aparently. My friend lived in there, she had a main course pancake and a desert pancake! Used to have a pancake place in Nottingham but it didn't last logn cos folks seemed not to take to 2-3 course sof pancakes like they took to pizza and pasta. I think ti was co sth efillings were sickly, load sof creany chicken and stuff, it was yucky.

BIG-TODGER - February 5, 2008 10:07 PM (GMT)
Pancakes are great with soup-something like vegetable or beef broth, and if you grate onion in the pancake mix that helps.
anyway i forgot it was pancake day, i'll have some tomorrow.

Dinky Jo - February 5, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
i just found a recipe for spinach pancakes, which sounded good....

BT if you're having some pancakes tomorrow, pass some over my way will ya :P

:sicky: indeed!

I made my first ever ones and they were excellent. I put smoked slamon and cream cheese with gherkins in one and mushroom creamed with cheddar and red onion in the other. :D I'm gonna have a dessert one, I might put Zubrowska vodka and lime in it for a laugh.

That's how I did mine - some substance to them or waste of space. Now I got the hang of it I'll try and see if I can do more types. reckon you could add spice to the mix - chill and ginger pancackes here I come :D
