I reckon Philoppussis will easily beat Melzer, Murray should beat Gimelstob but ya never know....
Scotsguy - July 15, 2006 08:19 PM (GMT)
WellI was right about the Scud, he's through 6-7 6-2 6-0 and will play the winner of the Murray (1) vs Gimelstob (8)...

Scotsguy - July 15, 2006 10:00 PM (GMT)
So the final is Gimelstob (8) vs Philoppoussis
Murray should move up 1 place to 35, and will now only lose 50pts from the Binghampton challenger....
He has a 2nd round appearance to defend in Cincy and didnt play montreal last year so can gain points there to get seeded for the USO
After the USO he has to defend his final in Bangkok and a quarter final appearance in Basel..... but didnt play madrid or Paris last year and not so many top players play there so he should have a chance to get far..
SuperBRAT - July 16, 2006 11:51 AM (GMT)
Bad luck for Murray, i just had a feeling he woudl lose to someone like Gimelstob at the leventh hour! But I'm pleased for Scud, I thought he might be a dark horse here as he is in reasonabel form and can cope with playign shoprter matches. I really hope he wins this title.
Big Al - July 16, 2006 12:23 PM (GMT)
Same here, Scud was always one of my favourites, esp. when he starts firing those missiles.
Scotsguy - July 16, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
Philippoussis won his first title on 33months after beating Gimelstob 6-3 7-5
This was Gimelstobs first final of his career having played 153 events.....

Well done, I love the Scud. But I feel sorry for Gimelstob now, his big chance and all. It's a crule sport eh?
