Title: AO COMP AWARDS CEREMONY
Description: come and see what you have won!

SuperBRAT - January 28, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
Right, it's the moment you have all been waiting for - or not as may well be the case, especially if you are a turkey. :D I shall be announcing the winner of the overall comp, and telling everyone where they finished. So some of you may choose to look away :D There will be some prizes, although don't expect too much because my budget was rather paltry this year, after Wise blew it on Ana Ivanovic's engagement ring and Trisco went to the designer boutiques. Normally Liam and Al woudl drink it away but this year their indulgence is a mere drop in the ocean in comparison despite the 35k bar bill. So circumstances being what they are, we shall have to improvise ;)

There will be seperate categories for the WOMENS, MENS and DOUBLES comps with a Winner, RU, losing SFists and of course the dreaded ubiquitious turkey we have all come to know and love, some more than others. :P I shall throw these in at intervals. There will also be an overall TOURNIE TURKEY - to qualify for this you must have played ALL predictions (or had 2-0/3-0s) so that will please some predictors - but don't worry I shall certainly not let them off lightly :D

Back in a mo, and keep the champagne Budvar coctails flowing for me - plus I want 112 white candles, 36 fluffy blue towels, my fave takeaway flown in from Madras by private jet in around 2 hours time and of course a massage in the interval from Mr Ivanisevic. ;)

Here goes ...... and please bear with me in case of delays :)

scolios - January 28, 2008 08:27 PM (GMT)
Hi SB, I'm all agog (what does agog MEAN, does anyone know?)

I sent you a PM saying I couldn't be here at 8 p.m. because I would be watching a film, but the buggers are showing the wrong version of the film :yikes: so I'll be here for another 20 minutes until another film starts (!). Something to share with my husband....

SuperBRAT - January 28, 2008 08:32 PM (GMT)
Right, we shall start with the WOMENS COMP

This is for all womens, girls, wheelchair singles matches.

WINNER: Well we'd expect him to be an expert with all the time he spends oggling Ivanovic. I understand she agreed to marry him as soon as she won her first GS. Why do you think she threw the final? :D This poster storemd through the tournie with supreme resolve and terrifyingly huge hitting, bagelling all in his path. Give it up for WISEapova with 163 points.

As all the trophies have vanished from the emoticon selection you'll have to have this! :girlkiss:

RU: this youngster has proved quite the expert of the women's game in the past, with his eye on Szavay and Myskina. But he had a much better AO than either of them, so give it up for FELIX with 159 points.

Losing Semi Finalists: close but no cigar for gin drinking has-beens SB 150, Liam 149, the Jankovic and Hantuchova of the tournie - do my shoes really squeak that much? :o

TURKEY: giobble gobble, wouldn't expect this poster to be any good on the women's tour, after all she spends all day oggling the ATP talent. :lmaao: This poster had a disastrous tournie rather like Safina and Bartoli. Demtieva's serve puts her to shame! About as much use in a GS as good old Kournikova ever was, it's PEBS! A shameful 129 points. :lmaao: A tin of AO spam especialyl for the BBQ :spam:

Cheers, SB

Congrats to Wise   (is he going to win ALL the 1st prizes - wouldn't surprise me - gnashing of teeth can be heard in the background)

Also to Felix  (he only gets one bow)

And commieserations to Pebs  There but for the grace of SB go I!

SuperBRAT - January 28, 2008 08:43 PM (GMT)
Right, on with the main countdown .....

these two failed to predict everyday so not expecting great scores - BUT they should really have done better :cop: The first poster missed his flight here due to some kind of misunderstanding with customs - I told him bringing in a bong as his lucky mascot was NOT a good strategy! :D Still, he played rather well, mixing it up and showing all court skill and prowess just like his idol Justine - give it up for GS2 303 points

Prize: a personal organiser with a flight booking facility, and a chance to ride with hid idol on one of these!

http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r46/Mot...enin-Harley.jpg

Check out Justine getting that leg over! :o

In 14th place

This poster gets the KFC Award for Outstanding achievement - as in chickening out and doing a runner once things took a turn for the worst. :D This poster put Anna Kournikova to shame! He caused quite a stir on court in his eyecatching outfits, but did receive a code violation when he forgot to wear anythign under his chaps on court. :yikes: I do hope he used plenty of sunscreen. Spending more time in the boutiques and bars of Melbourne than on court, he caused quite stir with the press, so as hisprize I got this fahionista a shoot with vogue - sadly though they turne dup before eh was quite ready -

Never mind, there is always Heat magazine fashion disasters section :lmaao:

Give it up for TRISCO with 329 points

His prize - well Djoko agreed to let him massage his thighs next time he fancies faking injury in a match ;) :D

Here's what happened when Trisco took Djoko out for a quick drink

Right, the person in 13th place has the TOURNIE TURKEY and that will be presented later on. :D

In 12th place ......

This lady likes her grass, so maybe the AO is not quite her surface. She coped very well in the cirsumstances, considering that her engagement to Tommy Haas was broken off on day 1 and who did she end up with? That crafty old WTA womaniser Radek Stepanek! :D Ditched Nicole for her he did, but being no fool WA soon got rid of him when she found out what he was like, plus that his predictions were really crap and not worth sh*gging him for! When he refused to leave, she merely played one of her Westlife albums and like most men with any muscial taste and devoid of ear plugs, he was out the door in a flash ... and straight into Anna Ivanovic's knickers! :lmaao: Now WA could have played a tad better had she not topped up on Pimms every change of ends in 32 degree heat, but the good news is her an Tommy are back on and we expect a big wedding in June. I will dust down my hat and prepare to play Head Bridesmade - of course Goran is best man so I hear so we all know what they can lead too. Let's hope they don't split again! :D

Give it up for WIMBLEDON ACE 357 points

Her prize - well Tommy has flown over and is waiting, and we will make a substantial contribtion to the wedding of course - pick whatever wine you want from Lidl's and I think we can rustle up a bouquet from Tescos.

http://tennisrulz.com/atp/players/haas/gallery/010.shtml

and fo course one of these

Not bad WA, maybe I'll go off with him at the wedding instead. ;)

Tthey call her the Grand Old Lady of Tennis because she can sure show these youngsters a thing or two - especially that one called Roger Federer, who I think would make excellent toy boy material for her. :D I have wondered why he was so distracted this AO, and I did hear that Scolios spent a lot of time in his dressing room, playing cards of course - obviously the idea of League Cribagge thrills him more than the lure of the GS now, and who can blame him! :lmaao: Now this poster has also bene very busy this AO working on Gonzo's erm ... er... sorry not what I thought it said thnakfully .... forehand! (Good lord these cue card writers! Sack them at once!). So her contirbution towards the ATP side of this tournie is not to be overlooked - didn't Gonzo look rather knackered early on too  ? Anyway she does love the game, and her whisky, and has attracted a sponsorship war between White Horse and Tullymore Dew - and w elove her!

Give it up for the Diva of Denmark SCOLIOS with 360 points

Here's Roger collapsing after Scolios went to hsi dressing room with a cribbage board and pack of cards :D

And Scolios of course will get a nice dinner out with Roger to discuss partner cribbage tactics, and I'm sure he'll be back on form soon so you need a new sofa to hide behind next time he is in a final

This poster is quite the intellectual, being very interested in aesthetics. She's currently doing a thesis on the aesthetic appeal of the ATP, Safin and Tipsarevic being her area of expertise. :D Unfortuneately though she took the gathering of empirical evidence very seriously, and all those hours examing Safin's torso have cost her performance. Still, it's nice work if you can get it, and get it she certainly did, most nights so I hear! :o She has worked hard on her backhand, but she has also worked rather hard on the umpires, with several code violations for abusing her chainsaw on court. She did do the party scene, having been photgraphed on the cover of the Melbourne times at one of Baghi's barbeques, but I don't think her comment that the pepper seemed to have been sprayed to the goats cheese salad went down very well, given the crowd issues of the first week. Anyway they did her a nice veggie sausage then sent her away in a police car. Her shrimp has well and truly been slapped on the BBQ this time. :D

Give it up for DINKY JO with 362 points.

As you prize I can offer a couple of nice examples of aesthetics :ok:

Surprisingly, we expected better from this player, but like Federer no one can win every time. Seeded 3, last year's Wimby champ and a former FO winner, she is versatile accorss the surfaces, where did it all go wrong? Methinks she has developed a penchant for the high life. fast cars, theatre trips, holidays - she's at every celebrity bash going, the Williamses are envious! :D Hello magaizine are alwasy round and she's even managed the cover of Cribbage Player's weekly with Roger Federer himself roflmao We had trouble getting her out of her car onto the courts, but she upset officials by driving across Rod Laver during the Hewitt/Bagh match. Not sure what the problem was, she waited until change of ends. I think she'll be back though cos she has spent all her prize money!

Give it up for FAH, 373 points.

MENS WINNERS

For all singles matches in mens, boys and wheelchair.

Right, our competition QUARTER FINALISTS

8th place

What a dissappointment for our No 1 seed! I think the stress of the drugs tests took their toll after his association with Miss Hingis lat all those parties. Beign caught witha mirror and a razorblade on court didn't help, the excsue that he needed a shave just did not cut it  :D Going out on the town with Trisco hardly helped him keep a low profile - in karaokes singing with Djokovic on "I will Survive"! However, idol Ms Hingis was impressed and asked him to team up on a duet of this song so am sure he will enjoy this as a prize and that this will not only help her cuase but pave the way for an alternative career in pop music should he continue to slide down the rankings!

Give it up for the Toronto Terminator Viva - 375 points

7th place ....

Well this doubles expert didn't do as well this year as we had hoped. Rather like Jamie her idol she struggled with a new partner this year, but I am sure it will be early days and she'll come back fighting next time. :ok: I think her problem was the amount to time she spent trying to get Jamie Murray to play in the mixed. He lead her astray saying he'd got 'some unkown" to consider, and at the last minute teamed up with Liezel Huber - who is she? :D Well anyway we all know she has a penchant for picking talent as she tipped Djoko to wint the AO when everyone else thought Fed had it in the bag. :ok: Now how did she know that? She obviously has some insider knowledge and I hope she isn't getting it from the dirty old devil WA's ex Stepanek. :yikes:

Give it up for our very own Welsh Dragon Miss SospanFach with 379 points.

Here's your new doubles partner as Huber has dumped him!

6th place

This newcomer thoroughly justified his Wildcard with a massive win in the Mens. He was nervous to start with but soon got into the groove, outhitting the likes of the Samprasesque Wise - a bit like Djokovic challenging Federer, who we all know Wise will be happy to be compared to. :P A good all rounder who clearly studied the women's tour well too - a fan of Jelena Jankovic, like whom he certainly showed fighting qualities and excllent counterpunching tactics. One of CCs 'young guns' to watch out for next year. Let's hope he doesn't end up like the rest of CC down the bar and stays focused on more than his pint . :D

Give it up for NEVETS - 381 points.

You can have a wild night out with Jelena, she's all dressed up to party :dancer1:

5th Place -

This old drunken veteran .. erm .. sorry dear old veteran (these cue cards are a nightmare! ;) ) had his first proper outing at a GS and what an outing it was. Big serving, big hitting and big drinking are his trademarks, he also proved a bit of a Wayne Arthrus in the Legend's doubles too, quite an all rounder - shame he didn't buy ALL the rounds he drank frome out prizes budget! :D He was getting on rather well with Ms Ivonovic, until he stole her half a lager and lime. Sophisticated girls these Serbs. :lmaao: Just lile idol Agassi, showing that it is never too late and costing us a fortune in hyrdocotisone injections, give it up for

BIG AL with 394 points.
