Title: Puerta
Description: Your take on his appeal results??

Mariano Puerta had his suspension reduced from eight years to two by the CAS. Is this a blow to doping enforcement or rightfully adjusting a penalty that was too harsh? I've posted some comments about it on a BBC thread, but was curious what folks here thought.

I think it was a blow to doping enforcement....ok so it was small dose that he drank 'accidentally' (don't know if it's true or not), and it isn't performance enhancing but surely he should have been extra careful as he'd already had 1 ban.......or he doesnt think the rules apply to him...

iu thought it was caught twice and your out ... shows lack of enforcement

Wow, you guys are harsh. Is it that you totally don't buy his story that he was accidentally contaminated when he used a glass that his wife had previous used to take her medication? Or does that not even matter if it was accidental?

I understand that and maybe 8 years was a bit harch, i was expecting 3-4 but now they've made themsleves look lenient and stupid by reducing it to to 25% of the original time....
And although it may have been accidental it was still careless...

having read the original report banning him for 8 years, the report read like they didnt think 8 years was correct and too long. They seemed to accept the accidental contamination theory but put the 8 years on because they had to. i think 2 years would be about right for the 'crime', imo 8 years was just too long.

I'm just not sure which signals are being sent out by this - the fact he's had a second offence so soon as well should surely count!
Maybe 8 years was too long - but he still should have had at least 4 ;)
