A number of scalps between these two all tournament, Maria taking out Davenport, Dementieva, Henin and Jankovic whilst Ivanovic has taken down Venus and Hantuchova.

One set dropped between them, Maria has only dropped 24 games all tournament.

This is an absolute no-brainer. Sharapova has been on-fire all tournament, absolutely annihilating a host of dangerous opponents. Ivanovic has only beaten one worthwhile opponent, and she even managed to get a bagel off Hantuchova in the SF. :doh: Maria will cruise to an easy straight sets win, 6-1, 6-2 being the kind of scoreline I expect.

I'm going with Sharapova logically, becsuse she seems ot have shown the best form. She will also want to make up for last years embarassign final :D However, Ana I do beleive has a chance because after all she took out Venus - I hear Venus played very well that day - but agree with Wise on the Dani bagel - huge concern!

Gotta say Sharapova - she just seems to be in such amazing form!

Ana might get a set but I cant really see her win .

Unless Shazza capitulates again and can't get a shot in court like last years final then she will win. If Maria plays like she has done then it isn't really up to Ana who walks away with the title.

Ana will need to start really fast to win the title, cant afford another blow-out set like against hantuchova or a slight let-down like she suffered against Venus when down 0-3 in the second set, she has to be really sharp. One main area she has to be careful of is the serve, geberally has a rather poor 1st serve % and Sharapova has been severely punishing second serves this year.

However if her forehand's on, it could be a great match. You wont get a supreme Serena-esque performace, but she could pull it off.

On paper it's Sharapova's title, but dont underestimate the Serbian surge ;)

so it's come down to Squeaky and the Cheat...i'll take Sharapova in 2 please :)
