Title: Who will be the finalists?

Tenez - January 23, 2008 10:48 PM (GMT)
Time to put your tennis prediction to the test.

Tenez - January 23, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
I'll be brave and say Federer v Tsonga!

Dinky Jo - January 23, 2008 10:53 PM (GMT)

Sorry Dinky!

you put it in the men's live scoring ;)

it's ok, you make me feel useful :P

BIG-TODGER - January 23, 2008 11:07 PM (GMT)
I've gone for Federer v Tsonga
Fed isn't playing brilliantly, but i reckon he'll raise his game against Djokovic, though i wouldn't put a lot of money on it.
I don't think Nadal has been tested yet, Tsonga seems just the kind of young en, who has nothing to fear from the big guys.

Dinky Jo - January 23, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
I'm torn between Fed-Nadal and Djoko-Nadal, both would be good finals I think. I can't see Tsonga beating nadal - i just think Nadal will be mentally stronger than tsonga if nothing else. Fed does always tend to turn it up when he needs to, so i'll go for him, but i have a sneaking suspicion that Djoko could just do it......

If there is one thing I'd wish in the new board upgrade (if ever we get one) woudl be to be able to create thread more easily.

Duchess - January 23, 2008 11:10 PM (GMT)
Don't know about you folks but I'm getting a little tired of Federer v. Nadal all the time. It's like Evert v. Navratilova in the 80's. Would be awesome if Tsonga went all the way. :D

Tenez - January 23, 2008 11:11 PM (GMT)
I must say that though I picked Fed - Tsonga like BT, any of the 4 choices is perfectly possible. This is a very difficult one.

I would agree but until Federer can get as many chance to fully catch up in his H2H with nadal, I'd like to see more of it. Federer Tsonga is more likely to happen in any other tournament for now.

Potentially it could get worse you know... :P

Pebs - January 23, 2008 11:38 PM (GMT)
I've gone for the Fed Tsonga match up - just cos thats what I'd like to see and I reckon it could be a goer

I really am putting the kiss of death on Tsonga here

chokapova - January 23, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
I get the impression the Fed fans are hoping it's not Nadal who gets through to the final... :P

laurie - January 23, 2008 11:44 PM (GMT)
I'll go for Djokovic v Ndal, why not.

are you kidding? I'd like Nadal to get through to the final :ok: If only 'cos I don't think that Fed vs. Tsonga would be that interesting - i'd really like a great final :ok: If Nadal gets through and beats Fed then fair play to him

awww... who I am kidding!

Wise_Analyst - January 23, 2008 11:52 PM (GMT)
I've got a sneaky feeling it'll be Djoko vs Nadal, with a Nadal victory, but that's based on nothing other than feeling - which hasn't got me far so far. Could very well be any combination.

Tenez - January 23, 2008 11:53 PM (GMT)
Like you Dinky, my preference would be a Fed/Nadal final as we are more likely to see Federer Tsonga early in other tounaments. Number 1 v 2 has always something special. I however think that Tsonga has the tennis to run Nadal down. the problem is we have not seen enough of Nadal this year to make a fair judgement of his current form. This is why it is difficult to predict. I think however that Tsonga should be able to serve his way out of tough moments if he has the nerves.

i think actually it could be the nerves that are his problem Tenez. Semi-final of a grand slam against the number 2 in the world? It'd be nice to see him hold is nerve, and i suspect a lot of it will depend on how Nadal starts - if he starts the match well I think Tsonga will have problems. But Nadal seems to have been having tough first sets all this week, so it'll be interesting to see how he goes

Gav - January 23, 2008 11:59 PM (GMT)
I want the final to be Djokovic versus Nadal, but I think it will be Federer versus Nadal.

But I think Tsonga had a better chance of beating Nadal than Djoko has of overturning Fed.

P.S. Tenez what's so tough about creating a new topic? The new board is very similar.

Tenez - January 24, 2008 12:13 AM (GMT)
I don't know Gav but I am only using the "most recent posts" as CC homepage and to create a new thread I have to navigate away from it and try to find the subfolder where the thread fits and then create New Thread. Because I am only using the "most recent thread" page, I have a kind of old BBC feel where it is irrelevant to sort the threads by types (the most recent posts are listed. Certainly not a big deal though and the only way to go I guess if we want to keep the threads within subfolders.

Ahhh Now I see why it is odd to you. Fair enough :ok:. I thought perhaps you were not seeing the icon to create a new topic.
