Thoughts anyone?Im more in favour of a Justine Venus match after last years Semi at the US Open.What are your views?

I wouldn't mind either of those finals to be honest.

Form suggests those are the odds on finalists, but you never know.

Serena can test Justine if she is at her best, but can she beat her? That is something only the match (should they both reach that far) can answer. I personally believe Justine at her best can handle Serena.

All very interesting though.

After todays performance, i wouldnt count out a Sharapova vs Venus final. Maria was on USO 2006 form and look what she did to Justine there.....

I'ld prefer Venus against Justine, i agree it will probably be a better match.
The all Williams finals were never that great-i think they got a little better, but they never produced a classic-which is understandable given that they are sisters.

Serena's best is unbeatable period.

Going into the match I would say Serena's in better shape than their last encounter and playing much better (whereas Justine was basically in the zone all US Open). Henin has looked slightly vulnerable. I would expect at least 3 sets in Aussie of all places where Serena has come back so many times.

She is a little over 40-1 in Australia since 2003 (including doubles).

So i think a Williams final is not out the question especially since Henin has to get through Masha anyway.

Their last Aussie Open final was immense..this one could be too.

For me, i want to see a Henin vs Kuznetsova final, but i would be surprised if its Henin vs Venus.
I really couldnt bare to watch another Williams final though.....

Whereas we have had plenty of Henin-Kuznetsova finals recently and they haven't exactly been great quality have they?

It should be a more even H2H but Kuzzie chokes and in GS finals Henin is just too mentally sound for her. It would be another whitewash final for sure.

i agree. i like kuzzy, but i couldnt bear anotherfinal with her and Henin. Either Serena or Masha vs Venus will do for me. In fact, even though I prefer both Serena and Venus to Maria, i would really like her to win this, just to mix it up at the top of the rankings, and because i predicted her to win all 4 slams and a win here would only leave her needing the FO, which isnt impossible considering her career will last quite a few ears after Henin retires. But for the same token, a Venus win here would have the same effect, although her chances of winning RG are much slimmer

I wanted to see Serena v Kuznetsova but that is all over now. I really don't want to see Ivanovic, but I don't want all Williams either. So I'd have to go for Henin v Venus, although ideally I'd love to seee Henin v Serena from what is left but obviously can't happen.

I woudl thought like to see Radwanska make her first slam final, that would be interesting.

All straight set wins for Williams in doubles and singles so far.

I would expect Venus to beat Anna, but whoever wins that match will be the finalist barring a miracle.

I would expect Serena to beat Jankovic, but Henin vs. Shazza is far more difficult to call after their epic at the season-ender. If Shazza and Henin stage another epic, I'd expect Serena to be the beneficiary.

I really don't want an all-Williams final.

Nope we don't. Much as I respect the Willaimses their crap finals ruined interest in women's tennis among many. I have onyl ever missed the Wimby ladies final ONCE since about 1976. Even though used to go away every finals weekend to scooter rallies I used to rush back to the chalet and watch the final on a black and white portable while everyone else wa sin teh bar or on the beach. But after the Wiliamses finals, I remember one Saturday deciding nto to bother fo rthe first time in nearly 30 years. I think it might have been in 2003 :shrug: We decided to go out for the day instead, I was in an Arcade in some place on the Kent coast near Hythe - Dym church? - and heard the result announced on the radio whilst I was playgin space invaders :lol: NOTHING makes me miss Wimby finals but that did. Sorry!

i dont want Serena to win, as she has won this enough times and Sharapova hasnt or Venus, so i expect my ideal final would be Sharapova vs Venus. But for S & V to both be fit enough to both get to a slam final again would go some way to shut up all the people who thoughrt they were past it

last year was the start of the revival, and people dont call them as much now, but a gs final would prove a lot, especially if they can do well in the doubles too

No prob not but I don't think any serious tennis pundits or other players have ever written the Williams sisters, you don't win that many Slams without having some talent! :ok: A talent that isn't going to go away either... :)

I haven't got to grips with WTa world. Ben on a few times but it is huge and I don't really knwo where the action is :blush: There are haters though as you said on the BBC and most fo them were nasty and personal. I don't hate them myself, I like them in ways and have huge respect for their comebacks more than anything, esp Venu sWimby 2005 and Serena AO 2007 - what a hoot! :lol: Thier finals have never been rigththough, maybe these days they might improve? :shrug: Actaulyl I reckon it will be those two cos they have gradulyl made omcebacks, and I reckon thei raim is to do the final again :D

even i have no expectations of the quality of the final if it features both sisters. It would be the fact that both are focused and fit again to both be there. Love them or hate them i believe we need all the players at their best this year to make it a bit more exciting than Feds dominance last year (oops meant justines ;) )

I like Justine's style fo play and am glad that it finalyl got it's chacne to shine through, so I don't think it is such a bad thing. The power hitters were putting folk off.
