I might forget watching the TV downstairs and go watch the stream in bed if it is a good stream?

yeah, it is a good stream actually :ok:

oooh...Djoko's called a trainer on :(

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
ok, Djoko called a trainer on cos he cut his knee with his racquet when serving.

Wise_Analyst - January 15, 2008 12:38 AM (GMT)
Nothing to worry about from Benj Becker. He's not even a promising youngster, just a journeyman who had one good run at the US Open in 2006 and knocked out a knackered Agassi. Djoko should stampede his way through this one, but like I said before the tournament, there are question marks over his fitness - already he's summoned a trainer for something or other.

EDIT: Just seen why Djoko called the trainer - not exactly a pressing fitness issue after all!

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 12:40 AM (GMT)
I loved the commentators "just stick a band aid on it" :giggle:

trisco - January 15, 2008 12:41 AM (GMT)
Djoko has taken the first set by serving up a bagel for Becker..

trisco - January 15, 2008 12:59 AM (GMT)
I'm sure the new court colour reflecting on the player makes the whites of players clothes a little more transparent than normal..

Wise_Analyst - January 15, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
Djokovic makes hard work of his third set, losing 3 times as many games as he'd done in the two before it, but he's through pretty routinely in the end, 6-0, 6-2, 7-6 (5).

Nalbandian might only be playing a guy called Smeets, but he doesn't appear to be suffering much from this back injury, racing into a 6-1, 2-0 lead in double quick time.

Ljubicic was a set and a break up on Haase but it's 1 set all and the young Dutchman is a double break up in the third. Not a huge shock, but always great to see Ljubicic humiliated.

Baggy and Johansson are still on serve at the business end of the first set. Tipsarevic looks likely to get through against the Aussie who had a good run in Adelaide, Sirianni, at 2 sets up. Monaco is struggling against Berlocq, having to come from a break down in both sets so far, but he's just about in command.

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 07:45 AM (GMT)
not many surprise results today:

Hewitt beat Darcis quite easily

Baghdatis made it through in 4 against Johansson

The Gooch got beaten, which i don't think many people predicted

Tipsarevic made hard work of beating Sirianni - 7-6, 6-5, 6-7(6), 0-6, 6-0

Nalby and Ferrer both through in straight sets

JCF had no problems against Kiefer - through in straights

I'm sure Wise will be please, 'cos Ljubicic is out - beaten in 4 by qualifier Haase

The up and coming Croatian Cilic managed to take care of Almagro - beat him in straight sets

Matches in progress;

Safin took the first set from Gulbis 6-0 :yahoo: it's now 2-2 in the second

Blake's a set and a break up on massu

Santoro appears to be beating Isner with some ease :ok:

SaraLess - January 15, 2008 08:05 AM (GMT)
No huge surprises as yet - good result for Slam veteran Santoro...and for little known Haase (where I must have a sneaky :D )

Safin looks like he's playing really very well - I guess his credentials will be more tested in the next round (Baghdatis?)

Seriously, this side of the draw is so much tougher - it's incredible!

Pebs - January 15, 2008 08:11 AM (GMT)
*runs in and cheers for Safin and Blake* :yahoo:

I dont want to come home and read that they lost now!

Off to work :moody:

Yeah, if Safin does this in straight sets i'll be pleased. Gulbis is no pushover, so this will be a good result for Marat. Like you said though, he'll be tested a lot more against baghdatis

Great result by Marat so far :yahoo: :yahoo:   ..Let's hope, but next match against Baddi will be a real test and battle: I am with Marat, but stil Bagdi is a nice guy..!!! But definitely let's hope Marat will win that one..but might be I am running too fast: he still fighting in his first round: Tie-break in the third

Djoko and Nalbi were good: Great two very good players fit and ready..

No one notice but it is important to point out: Ferrer and Ferrero (against Kiefer) did pass quite easily as well...

Poor Lubo..But Ok: This is expected: He had his 2 years of glory and now he will no more back on the top 10..

Waiting for Gonzo..And clearly for a good match from the master

Tennisveritas - January 15, 2008 09:10 AM (GMT)
Marat -Bagdi next round is official: Great

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 09:10 AM (GMT)
the AO site is suggesting that Baggy has some sort of hamstring injury, although he's of course playing it down somewhat.....

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 09:13 AM (GMT)
Stepanek's match against Spadea is just going in to it's 5th set. Stepanek won the first two sets fairly easy, but lost the third one 5-7 and has just lost the first one 2-6

also, Tursunov in trouble against Malisse - 2 sets down

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 09:41 AM (GMT)
Tursunov looks to have finally woken up :phew: and is winning the third set 5-2, although he's now got to go to 5 sets

and Stepanek in real trouble - he's losing the5th set 1-3 to Spadea

SaraLess - January 15, 2008 09:59 AM (GMT)
Stepanek appears to be making a dogs dinner of his early lead...

5-3 in the fifth set to Spadea

SaraLess - January 15, 2008 10:04 AM (GMT)
And Radek drops off the radar...

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:07 AM (GMT)

And Radek drops off the radar...

oh dear oh dear. I didn't see that one coming.....

Malisse is also throwing away his 2 sets lead, although i'm quite happy for him to do so :P

looks like Venus has just finished on Rod Laver so Roger is up next! :D

SaraLess - January 15, 2008 10:10 AM (GMT)
Allez Rog :yahoo:

I am SO annoyed at having to work and rely on the scoreboard!

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:11 AM (GMT)
i know! i'm slightly tempted to start streaming it from the BBC website tbh! Although i may save that for the later stages of the tournament....

Gonzo in a tie-break in the second set of his match

Tursy just won the 4th set 6-1 :yahoo:

SaraLess - January 15, 2008 10:14 AM (GMT)
Thank goodness Tursy started realising he had to play!!

Gonzo making a bit of a meal of this second set...

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:18 AM (GMT)
Gonzo takes the second set fairly comfortably in that tie-break.

and Michael Russell has finally managed to beat Fognini!

That's five 5 setters today (including Tursy's match) :ok:

SaraLess - January 15, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
Tursy now applying pressure to get this match done and dusted - leading 3-0 in 5th set

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:25 AM (GMT)
and Fed's match has started :yahoo:

Gav - January 15, 2008 10:30 AM (GMT)
Is it me or is Fed got himself really trim for this? Maybe it's the aspect ratio setting on my TV.... :hmm:

Last year at points he was getting a little bit like Rog the Podge..... but now.... not the least bit..

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:37 AM (GMT)
and gonzo finally comes through in straight sets

Tursy having a harder job in this final set but is still 5-2 up

and Fed has already broken in the first set - this should be over fairly quickly

Gav - January 15, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
Federer looking pretty outstanding out there today. :ok:

5-0 first set.

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:47 AM (GMT)
Fed looking like he's about to serve his first bagel of 2008 :yahoo:

yep 6-0 first set

Dinky Jo - January 15, 2008 10:49 AM (GMT)
And Tursunov just won 6-3 in the final set!!!! :D
