Title: YOUR top 10 sports moments of 2007

Harry Potter - December 29, 2007 10:18 AM (GMT)
10. Celtic's league cup victory against Dunfermilne which saw Neil Lennon going out on a high note
9. England beating France in the RWC
8. The announcement of Asada Mao's final score at the World figure skating championships that confirmed Miki Ando's marginal victory - two Japanese women on the podium, 1st and 2nd!
7. Daisuke Takahashi's inspiring performance at the World figure skating championships, earning him a silver medal
6. James McFadden's cracker against France
5. Massimo Donati last minute winner against Shakthar Donetsk which saved Celtic from getting eliminated from the Champions league
4. Scott McDonald's last minute winner against Milan which ensured Celtic's more than deserved victory against the European champions
3. Shunsuke Nakamura's last minute freekick goal which won Celtic the league title - as the commentator said, "how typical that the goal should be scored in the very last minute, and how typical that it should be scored by Shunsuke Nakamura! The Japanese bhoy does it again!"
2. Tim Henman coming from behind to defeat Moya in a gutsy performance at Wimbledon
1. Tim Henman hitting the forehand winner that ensured GB's qualification for the Davis cup - and that ended his career fittingly

That is my list - what is yours? :D

I don't follow that many sports so I'm limited here, but obviously agree with your tennis ones, and in no particular order and on tennis only:

Henman beating Moya - what a match!

Jamie Murray and Jelena Jankovic winning the MD at Wimby - it's a GS, and lots of folk seem to underrate that

Henman/Jamie winning the doubles to ensure qualification for the DC - well I was there and it was a wonderful occassion even if the sporting achievement wasn't that special in terms of the opponents.

Gasquet beating Roddick in 5 mad sets at Wimby

Murray's perfromance against Nadal at the AO - I think it was the AO, seems ages ago. Good match.

I'm sure there are others but these are most special to me

On the women's

Serena winning the AO despite being past it, lazy, fat etc - way to go Serena ! And the fact that she trashed Sharapova was an added bonus - sorry but it was funny! :D Probably one of the most outrageous and up yours comeback wins in sporting history!

Justine put in great all round perfromances this year, but was beaten by young Bartoli, and I enjoyed that fairytale.

And Venus was awesome at Wimby, it has to be said. Her match against Kuznetsova was of very high quality.

I'm sure there is loads more but it seems so long ago and I can't remember!

Federer equalling Borgs record at Wimbledon.

Henman v Moya .

Gasquet v Roddick , amazing match :D

Nalbandian's late season Masters wins.

Federer winning the Masters cup and back to his brilliant best.

I dont followthe other sports much, but Rocket Ronnie's UK championship win including the 147 against Selby.

I forget Fed  Well the fact that Bjorn himself turned up made my day actually - I used to love Borg as a kid, it was great to see him return after so many years and he is a very gracious man. :ok:

I was trying to think of something for snooker, cos it's a sport I like (and play badly!) but nothing stood out that I could recall except for Ronnie who is myfave. It was a good year for Higgins though - and he's getting an MBE I think. :ok:

SuperBRAT - December 29, 2007 03:41 PM (GMT)
Paula Radcliffe winning the New York Marathon - her first marathon in 2 years and just 10 months after her babay was born. And she shook off the Ethiopian runner who kept outsprinting her too :ok:

I liked the bit after the match where we overheard Borg and Fed having a conversation beside the plaque with the names of all the champions and seeing Borgs name five times and now Federers. Then they hugged each other .Two true champions ,g reat moment B)

I'll second that!

She trounced Gete Wami in a sprint finish - they have been competing against each other for almost 20y (!) and Wami possess incredible finishing pace (60sec for the last 400m). 95 times out of 100, Paula would be outsprinted by Wami but this was Paula's territory!

My other favourite moments were Jamie Murray's doubles' win at Wimbledon, Christine Ohuruogu winning 400m gold at the World Champs and Leeds United finally doing well again in the footy!

best of 2007? I can't think of ten but here are my three: Justine H. finding peace in her life and beating everyone; the Indianapolis Colts winning the Super Bowl (the American Football championship game) behind their quarterback and leader Peyton Manning-who also happens to be a very classy person; and the Boston Red Sox winning their 2nd World Series in 3 years (baseball championship)-thus officially ending their "curse." :D

ObL!v!0N - January 4, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
leeds united winning their first 7 games to wipe out the 15 point deduction imposed by the football league
great britain thrashing the kiwis 3-0 in the test series

steve mclcaren getting sacked and fabio capello getting appointed england manager
