Title: Youngsters to Watch in 2008
Description: any thoughts?

There's a good thread in the ATP on this and I wondered if anyone had anything to contribute on the WTA side. Which youngsters will do well? Who will be the up and coming stars?

Paszek and Szavay certinaly proved themselves last year, I wonder how well they will do? And I thought Safarova showed guts and potential.

those 3 are good ones.

i'd add maybe...aggi radwanska or azarenka.

Paszek is my bet though I reckon it'll take more than a year for her to really come to her full potential

for me, has to be Safarova and Radwanska. them 2 have beaten some pretty amazing players last year, i think will break into top 20 this season

I think Dominka Cibulkova has lots of potential (though her looks will make her be catergorised as a Sharapova/Kournikova/Hantuchova/Vaidisova clone). I saw some of her QF defeat to Dushevina in Stockholm and apart from a poor serve and slight stroppiness she has a good game.

How about Olaru from Romania? She rose from the depths of obscurity (200s) to rise into the top 60 last year and she's only 18 and had very good runs in a couple of big tournaments.

I agree with Tamira Paszek. She definitely seems to have a big-time temperament, beating Golovin and Dementieva in Wimbledon and Schnyder at the US.
