I'm not sure if you can blame Andy. Unfortunately he comes from the UK and its our press making more out of this than need be, just as we did with Henman all the time.... the bloody British press scrutinise every little detail and bring it to the forefront of the media just so people have it in mind. Then once things go bad then can remind everyone of where it all went wrong..... bla bla bla Britiosh Gutter Press.... Although you can also guarantee If it all goes right then Murray will be one hell of a hero... ;)

Yep, you can guarantee Murray is being asked every day whether he's got a new coach yet. Although that story is two and a half weeks old - about 2 weeks after he split with Gilbert, so it's not like he's *still* going on about it...... although he was forced to justify his decision after people like Stich and Rusedski told him to just get one coach - but again, that'll be the press going on about it, rather than Murray

The attacks on Murray are unwarrnated, he doesn't do the reporting. He also happens to be our number one, and face it we have f*ck all else to look forward to in tennis or to talk about fuom a British perspective (plus it is the off season) so what else will the press be discussing?
Anyway as British citizen and a tennis fan I'm actually interested to hear what his plans are. After all he is in flux and we need him to have a godo season so yes, I am very interested. And he's nto beign a diva, he's just trying to do his best and get the right set up around him. If he found oen person too intense (and Gilbert is bloody intense :yikes: ) then mayeb he does need to try out this team thing. I doubt he's after 43 fluffy white towels and 200 lit candles like Mariah S-Carey - now THAT is diva. :D

I don't feel quite the same about Andy as I did about Tim. However, as SB says if we didn't have Andy we would have absolutely no one to follow. He's a keen competitor and most of his matches are fab to watch so I find it pretty easy supporting him. As far as I'm concerned Andy can do whatever he feels it takes for him to succeed and good on him :ok: He is paying for it so if we wants a massive team to help then so be it.
Again the media will be all over him so lets try not to be critical on here as well! Here's hoping for a great 2008 for him :D

I've never liked Andy from the start, and i'm glad finally people are speaking out about him. He's one of the most whingy tennis player's i've seen for sometime. Has a continual chip on his shoulder regarding coaches, line calls etc. I wont be forgetting his sexist comment from last year either
He gets far too much attention also, with the likes of Andrew Castle, John Lloyd etc ass-kissing because they want to preserve him as their star british player  I'll never forget that time when Murray lost at Wimbledon last year, and every player that was interviewed that day was asked to comment on that loss! Yeah, like Nadal and Federer honestly give a crap
And dont get me started on his gold-digging mother

It is hard to like the guy, his mumbling monotone manner during interviews, his gobbing while playing, his look, oh and his moaning, but i guess i'll be cheering him on during the Australian, he does have a great deal of talent-but yes nauseating.

You really don't like him do you dl? Not on the Xmas card list then
Everyone likes who they like, but i don't think it is his fault that the British ex-players and press talk abotu him all the time. You cannot blame him for that. And we have no other tennis players to talk about so until we do, it's always going to be the same. I'm nto convininced Fed and Nadal don't give a crap now though; Andy is a better player than one to merely dismiss. And he did beat Roger once. I think you are harsh on his mum, she is rightfully proud of her sons and supports and promotes them.

If I said I found Nadal nauseating I wonder what would happen
I seem to remember a lot of folk getting very upset when he was criiticised and saying that personal attacks on players were low and we should stick to their tennis or suchlike. As the gauntlet is down, I personally do not find Murray nauseating and if he is nauseates you that much, then you haven't lived and seen really nauseating people. Personally I find Nadal's attitude much more annoying, that fake boxer stance and the time wasting bewteen points, the shorts up the arse crack, the vamos, I much prefer Lleyton's more natural style of doing this streetfighter type of player - it's not an act with him. Oh and of course the legend that is Connors, the original streetfighting man. Even Nadal is not especially nauseating to me, but he is far more so than Murray is. It's all personal isn't it? :)

I find Nadal 's gamesmanship nauseating as well, the fist pumping and staring at his opponent every time he wins a point , the time wasting etc.
With hindsight ,Connors was pretty nauseating but because I was a big fan towards the end of his career , I overlooked that because I wanted him to win a few more majors .
Same goes for Murray I suppose, if he wasnt the only great British hope Id probably be a lot more critical of him. Its not very objective I know . I used to hate McEnroe not just because of his behaviour but because he ended Borgs reign and I wanted him to get beat all the time.

Connors was a bit of a swine actually, I never really realised it at the time. But as a real tough opponent who never gave up, he was awesome and was very tough to beat and gritty. He was quire versatile on the surfaces at the time too, and had a long career which I don't see Nadal having. He came through some ups and downs, he was also a great returner of the ball.
I must confess I hated Mac at first cos I supported Borg too, but then he grew on me as people I dislike to start with can often do. I still like Borg. A great man and one fo the best matchplayers of all time.

True, cos Mac just exploded on court, it was all a reaction. Connors was calculating, i heard he threatened someone in the dressign room once! So he was noo a nice piece of work, but at least you knwo there was real fighting ability and attitude behnd his action, I fidn Nadal rather fake.

For me it isnt personal at all.I just dont like Murray and his attitude.I liked him when he burst onto the scene and lost to Federer in that final indoors.Ever since I have followed him closely I have come to see what a whiny tempermental brat he is and its irratating. It was the same with Nicole Vaidiasova. The girl was hot and I loved her in the beginning then her bratty, childish ways busrt out and now she just sickens me.
While I will appreciate the the great matches Murray may or may not give us in the future,he will remain nauseating and sickening until he starts acting professional or like an adult.
PS...I find Nadal just as irratating if not worse.

:ok:

Do you?
Wel as I siad we all have our gripes. Fair enough then.
I liked Nicole but the last few times I saw her play something about her had changed and she annoyed me a little but not sure why. Do you dislike Mac and Connors and the likes ?
|
I Like them both SB.They were tennis personalities and somewhat characters which made tennis a personified drama series. We seem to lack that today which is why I think Novak likes to act the fooLMurray on the other hand is anything but a character.
:ok:
