Wonder how Hope will do - song choices are pretty neutral I will see how they handle it.
Leon has some decent chocies well suited for his style.
Niki same as Leon.
Rhydian will be interesting to see him do Someone to Love by Queen.
Same Difference doing Wake me up before you Go Go :help:.
Basically I don't like SD so they are well equipped to go this week.
Rhydian or Leon will win it I don't like Rhydian style though for popular songs though.

My thoughts. Some great song choices this week, a lot of Queen influence, can't be bad! Here's the breakdown :
HOPE WE WILL ROCK YOU : Great song but not sure how they will treat this one. Is going to be very interesting!!!! Think it could be painful.
HOPE 2 BECOME 1 : Just about sums it up that they should do Spice Girls! Should allow for more shared vocals at last  Not too tricky.
LEON THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD : Amazing song but does he have the vocal for it? Could end up being a little dull.
LEON CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE : Not sure he has the personality to carry this one off.
NIKI TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART : This is classic Niki, perfect song for her, should be fab, no worries with this one.
NIKI FIELDS OF GOLD : Worried on this one though. Do not like this song, potentially dullsville :(
RHYDIAN SOMEBODY TO LOVE : Can not wait for this! Did Ben do this last year? Should be a brill performance anyway.
RHYDIAN I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY/WORLD IN UNION : Perfect for his voice, definitely his genre. should sail through.
SAME DIFFERENCE WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO GO : Loving it!!!! I love this song, fab! :ok: This will be fun in the sun all the way, great stuff!
SAME DIFFERENCE ANY DREAM WILL DO : Strange choice but we shall see, could struggle (is this choice anything to do with all the Joseph talk last week?!)
Overall I am very much looking forward to it. Hope and Leon on dodgy ground this week but I suspect Hope will exit at last.
BIG-TODGER - November 30, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
HOPE WE WILL ROCK YOU-kinda hard to imagine but i guss they'll be all sassy and maybe pull it off, but they';re so mediocre i doubt it.
HOPE 2 BECOME-a bland song for a bland group
LEON THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD-doesn't sound good for leon, but you never know.
LEON CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE-should suit him.
NIKI TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART-could be a little OTT, she may just show us some raw emotion, but it could all be too much
NIKI FIELDS OF GOLD-a bit flat maybe, not enough to get her vocals into.
RHYDIAN SOMEBODY TO LOVE-should be good for him not too OTT
RHYDIAN I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY/WORLD IN UNION-will show his voice off to perfecton
SAME DIFFERENCE WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO GO-who gives a toss.
SAME DIFFERENCE ANY DREAM WILL DO-they seem like the nice kids in the Adams family to me-you just wanna blow them up.
Same difference and Hope have to go this week, if there's any justic.

Totally agree talentwise but will they sell many records in the long term, or even the short term, I think X Factor relies on its winners being a young band/artist that obviously the teens will buy.
I think only Leon would fit into that category as the winner.
Whatever happened to that Steve chap who I think was the original winner?? Too "old" for Cowell to market
i think Nicki or Rhyd or Leon to win.
Mo aka Mz O'Hara - November 30, 2007 01:03 PM (GMT)
ooooo I hope Niki does Eva Cassidy's version of Fields of Gold
SuperBRAT - November 30, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
Are these the best songs they coudl think of? I am glad to be blessed with my music collection. Which contains 3 of those songs if anyoen can guess which - well actually one and the other 2 I knicked off George :D
Thanks god someone listened to em last week and chose the song I wanted, but I also wanted ti for Rhyd! :D

Yeah, in terms of selling records i can't see anyone being really huge this year.
Rhydian doesn't quite fit into the pop star mould-even though he has a great voice.
You could be right about Hope-after all
BIG-TODGER - December 1, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
Sorry about the message above-i sent it before i'ld finished it, i was gonna say-after all girls aloud have done well, but not really sure we need another bland girl group.
I think it's important to get the right song and production for an artist, the problem with X factor is that the song-and presumably the production is already decided-this isn't an ideal situation. The song will inevitably do well in the charts, but not necessarily enhance the career of the artist.

I dont mind the song choices this week - am more interested in these than last weeks... thoughts are;
HOPE WE WILL ROCK YOU
HOPE 2 BECOME 1
Well, I think that they will do an okay job with 2 become 1 but I can see We Will Rock You being quite screechy and painful....
LEON THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD
LEON CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE
I think Leon might struggle with both of these - but I was pleasantly surprised by him last week, so maybe he will find his range and do okay with these
NIKI TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART
NIKI FIELDS OF GOLD
Do the presenters read CC?? There we were hoping for a Bonnie number and lo and behold, here comes Niki! She should be okay with both of these but I would rather have seen Bev do the Bonnie number and still quietly seething over it all!
RHYDIAN SOMEBODY TO LOVE
RHYDIAN I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY/WORLD IN UNION
I am soooooooo looking forward to seeing Rhyd do Somebody to Love - I think this will be a perfect song for him and should be performance of the night - unless the performance of the night goes to him doing I Vow to Thee My Country! the boy can do no wrong!
SAME DIFFERENCE WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO GO
SAME DIFFERENCE ANY DREAM WILL DO
Good choices for them - uptempo, not likely to make me want to vomit as they are not doing lovey dovey ones... but still not that bothered by them...

My thoughts:
LEON
THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD : Interesting - agree with WA. I love this song, but it's gotta but done simply, smooth, emotional, no warlbing or impersonating Michael Buble. I'm uncertain, cos I keep thinking how wonderful the Beatles sung it and he doesn't sound like Macca. Mind you he surprised me last week. Undecided - could be lovely or dull.
CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE : Oh lord, I'm sick of this one. But a good choice although a little safe IMO. He will be doing the Swing version by guess who? Mr Buble. So he is safe with this.
RHYDIAN
SOMEBODY TO LOVE : Now you are talking. :ok: This is the Queen stuff I like. This is gonna be GREAT. Let's hope he bigs it up and does the drama stuff, I will be rewinding this to watch again and again :D WA - yep Ben did it accapella. :ok:
I VOW TO THEE MY COUNTRY/WORLD IN UNION : yep, as WA says he can't screw this one up! Although I might get bored with the song. I do prefer his more dramatic stage grabbing stuff like Meatloaf . :D
HOPE
WE WILL ROCK YOU : oh lord. :runs: Not a fave of mine; could get away with it like that boy band did - was it 5ive? - and the vocals don't need to be challenging. Pheobe should get away with the lead bits, but the others could be ropey. Don't think this works for female vocals esp weak ones. A better song of the type is I Love Rock n Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, but they'd kill it! :lol:I hate all these girl bands who try and show themselves as rocky and edgy when they are not.
2 BECOME 1 : dreading it. Hate it :sicky: Spices had shit voices so they should get away with it, but I sense some dodgy moments if they stretch the notes, but I'm sure their backing track will save them  .
NIKI
TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART : I LOVE this one and I wanted it on last week for Niki or Rhyd. :yahoo: Only concern - will she capture Bonnie's gritty edge which is kind needed for me but cannot wait. She will handle it well, she knows how to pace and build a song up. :ok:
NIKI FIELDS OF GOLD : Agree with WA, dull song but she'll sing it well. Annoyed with the choice as so much more scope! More could have been made of this chance to shine twice,. Why nto contrast the rock ballad with a more classic beautiful soft song, in the vein Karen Carpenter or the Jewish Princess herself Streisand? Evergreen would work. Hard acts to follow but good ones to be aiming at with Niki's style. Carole King might have worked (love her) - Natural Woman? Alterntively she could have upped the tempo with something soul/disco, I thought she did good on Donna Summer. :ok:
SAME DIFFERENCE
WAKE ME UP BEFORE YOU GO GO : WA is right again. This is what they do best, cheery, uplifting, boppy songs where they get to dance and have fun. :ok: They should jitterbug into next week , but other song concerns me. Only concern on this is a female vocal, and they must ensure the arrangment allows them to harmonise - last week the arrangement screwed this up and their strength was lost.
ANY DREAM WILL DO : Strange choice. Not a great duet song, is the guy gonna take the lead? I think he will pull it off. Maybe Simon is trying to show them off as individual singers with a slightly more serious edge, not a bad idea but no room for error. Will they have a choir? I think they should.
In fact I reckon these songs have been put in to use a choir, let's see if I am right.

Ahh, I hadn't thought of the swing version of Crazy little thing! I can see how Leon's going to do it now. Don't like that version mind, prefer the original. Didn't Ray do it last year? There's a lot of duplication this series.
Yep SB Five did we will rock you, I even have it amongst my collection  Think the girls will do an even worse job, can just imagine the screeching!

Hey WA, I do liek swing for my easy listening. There are several albums of swing covers, Crazy Littel Thing has been doen by a few. In fact the album to get I think is Paul Anka, he does everything inc Nrivana Smells Like Teen Spirit roflmao There's a guy who perfromas that stuff at a local bistro bar, he's pretty good and I always ask for that :D
So it was 5ive? Not sure how I knew that. Did they do a version of I Love Rock and Roll? I seem to remember findign them amusing and maybe that si hwo I remembered :D If you liek boy bands, cos I understnd you od, how abotu the Osmainds? I have their album, my idols when I was 5. Donny is fab :ok:
