BTW, this is not an "invitation only" board, so anyone you think might enjoy it, recommend it to them. And I don't particularly care what is said in other places or in the past. You'll get yourself banned here only if you are a persistent troublemaker here. B)

Looks like the Beeb will be a quiet place ... it does have its limitations, like no PM facility, opening hours , and good to see an alternative to KOC as well.

I haven't gotten around to customizing smilies yet. This is the default let that came with the board. I'll look at that at some point, though.

Im setting up a board for me and my friends. How do I create sub-forums etc.?

If you're using this same messageboard hosting service, I can tell you a little about how to do it. Under the Admin Control Panel, there are all sorts of options for setting up and customizing your board. The section on "Forum Control" lets you add a new category or new forum. The "categories" on this board right now are "ATP", "WTA" and "General Chat". When you add a forum, you choose which category to put it in, and you can also choose to put it under another forum you've already added, to make it a sub-forum. (Though I haven't done that yet.)

The thing that threw me for a loop at first is that I added these forums, but they still didn't show up. When you're creating a new forum, there is a section where you can choose which member groups have access to which forums. The default is basically no access. I had to go back and edit that part, giving everyone access to read and post to the forums. But if you want, you can set up forums that only certain member groups can see or post to. For example, you might want some of your board open for guests (ie people who have not joined / logged in) to read and others that they can't.

I think by default, once someone set's up an account, they are automatically in. You can change those settings to do e-mail validation, administrator validation or even so that the administrator pre-registers accounts. I set this one to e-mail validation, so that when you register, it sends you a validation e-mail that you have to act on to activate your account. That just makes sure that the e-mail address someone uses is really theirs.

BTW, if you want to try a little different way of looking at the board, you can click on "Portal" near the top of the main page. I may still try to tweak the look of that page, as I learn more about how to do so, but I know how to add links to the navigation window, and have added links to the ATP and WTA websites there. If there are other good sites to link to, I can add them, as well.
