Title: X-Factor Week 3 - Your Verdict!
Description: who was good?should Futureproof be out?
SuperBRAT - November 5, 2007 01:00 PM (GMT)
Week 3 was a great galmour and glitz Big Band night with Futureproof going out to Hope in the bottom 2. Not a good week for Simon's groups of solo rejects. Overall I thought it was a good week, all the songs were good old numbers (except the awful Hanky Panky  ) and it was nice to have a live band. Who did you enjoy and who should have gone home? I'll be back to b*tch in a mo :D

I think Andy was crap. I wish he'd at least get a decent haircut - his looks like a legoland character that's had it's wig twisted
Rhydian was awesome
I think Hope's vocals were swamped by the band
Louis was a pillock as always
Leon was good, that could be his forté but the kid last year was better
Aliysha was weak, I was surprised she wasn't in the bottom 2 again
I don't really think that Futureproof should have gone out
did I mention Louis was a pillock?
Beverly was excellent but Niki's routine was a bit contrived - hated the trombonist bit, it just soo didn't work
The boy-girl act were their happy selves - wish she'd dress a little less US 50's girl next door though
On the whole, Andy should have gone
....and Louis was a pillock :D

Here's my verdict on the not so good ones.
Downright Dire :sicky: :sicky: :sicky:
ANDY - oh lord, WHY is he still here? What a drip. I thought he'd torn it this week but some idiots keep voting him back. It was weak, boring, embarrassing. Laughed my head off when he sat at the table, like some dreadful cheesy 70's singer's variety show. roflmao Honestly, not kidding, I fell off the sofa. Charisma and spark of a dead pollock. In fact he needs a slap with a wet fish. The Don Johnson Miami vice suit was awful. Hotel lounge stuff - as in hotel lounge for the deaf.
HOPE - I remember karaoke bars where 5 drunken girls did Like a Virgin. Very similar, but without the fun and Hope were sober so had no excuse. The song was embarassing for Madonna so there was no hope for Hope; vocals awful, dancing poor, didn't pull it off, looking about as much up for a bit of Hanky Panky as Mary Whitehouse. Bad song, not right for family entertainment either; that awful Charlie's 5 year old was in the audience! :yikes: Slap on the behind? A slap round the face after that, and give Simon one for saving them cos he leches at them every week.
Not that great, bearable
FUTUREPROOF - didn't blow me away but not as bad as people made out. Stupid that they had 20 mins to learn their dance and were slagged off for crap dancing - how disorganised on the show's part ! They are not great but have some talent and are a vocal harmony group and don't think they had the chance to do much of this on this song. Whoever rehearsed with them arranged it badly cos it was a good song.
Maybe better than Futureproof but still not great - AYLISHA - she upped her game but it still wasn't great. I don't think the song is that vocally challenging, even Amy Winehouse seems to just casually play about with it. The fun, popluarity and contmeporaryness of the song helped her loads. I still felt that she was impersonating the singer, doing those dodgy vocal wobblings that you do have to be really good to pull off, and wasn't unique. Just not that as good as others.

Oh Andy is dire. Hated him form the start. George hates him too. I don't get him - is it just the looks cos he isn't good looking to me. His hair is like a badly fitting hairpiece. Louis is always a pillock, we laugh at him nto with him :D

My verdict on the better performances:
LEON - all along he's shown the voice for swing/Sinatra and with the perfect song this week, I expected to be blown away. It was very good, good to see more confidence, but I was slightly unsatisfied and not sure why. I've seen several live performances of this song (yes I go to resturants with jazz/swing nights :D ) some better or as good. This song is about richness and tone and great rhythym and timing, Sinatra was a genius at these and a hard act to follow so maybe I expected too much, and it's hard to be as cool as Frankie. Deserved to stay though. I want to see him become more credible, connect with the audience more.
NICKI - I liked it. :D Good that she took a risk, stretched herself and did something different and fun. Not the best version ever but enjoyable - tough song and she did a good job with those top notes. Simon said she should have been bottom two - what crap! Gutsy lady, like her. I thought she rocked despite the ill placed trumpet. :D
SAME DIFFERENCE - I know they are cheesy but I like their attitude. Consistent and they really want it. They know who they are and work with it. Simon's best pick IMO. I think it's brilliant they have worked at this all their lives and never given up so good luck to them. :D The glitter was mad! They gel well and work the choreapgraphy well. They could be on stage in Grease type stuff, they have the voices and talent.
BEVERLEY - she rasied her game this week. Looked great too. Very Bliie Holiday/Nina Simone. :D I still don't think she is the greatest vocalist, but she has such scope for improvement. Has become very confident and owns that stage now. Was shouting at times and bits of the song could have been better but it didn't really matter because she has something about her and is emerging as the diva. Keep it up Beverely.
RHYDIAN - I was worried at first as the verses give little chance to shine vocally, and I saw that Liberace outfit - he just needed a candleabra roflmao However, in true star style, he made the song his own and gave a dazzling individual perfromance. Everyone goes on about hitting the money note, his money notes are in a league of their own; magnificent at the end. Only he could get away with this. Being able to pull off the obscure and put your own mark on it is what a proper artist is all about. It was funny that he set the faux fur coat on fur though :D
I don't think Futureproof should have gone, they were 3rd or 4th in line to go methinks. It should have been Andy, he's had 3 unremarkable weeks. But off the bottom 2, Hope should have gone. I don't think the public like them as much as Simon thinks, I reckon Futureproof had more chance and were more likeable. If the public loved them that much they'd have got away with the song. I feel sorry for F'proof cos it is clear that Simon has focused mroe on Hope - for various reasons!
Pebs - November 5, 2007 06:18 PM (GMT)
Just sat and watched the whole thing and have to say I said to Mr Pebs - Andy and Hope for the bottom two. I dont mind Andy and I thought he had a much better week this week, but out of the whole lot, he probably didnt deserve to go straight through... naturally I would have put him through eventually cos FFS - can we just get rid of the slappers??!! :sicky: That hanky panky song was dire (though Mr Pebs seems to feel that might be my song...  ) and I am sick of seeing them tarted up on stage hamming it up and keeping a place not meant for them!
On the others, well I agree with SB re Niki - I think to go for that song, stretching herself on a song she didnt know, acting in a way I am guessing she doesnt normally - took guts and she pulled it off! Fab stuff from her
Futureproof - not the best, but not the worst - just knew their time was up though when it come down to Simon - he really showed his colours by not letting it go to the actual result didnt he? What a let down from your own mentor to not give you a fighting chance - for that alone I hope he loses Hope next week.
Leon - awwww bless his little cotton socks. Much better from him - still not a great range but its his little niche and it was nice to see him shine from the compliments he got - this might be just what he needs to give him a pick-me-up and improve on what he has.
Same Difference.... Its okay. Its cheesy. Its a little bit vomit inducing... I dont see them lasting but I have no real feeling about these two anymore.. they are just airtime till the final I reckon...
Alisha - I dont think she deserved bottom two this week - she was much better - and I like her. Shes a little bit sassy, a little bit gorgeous and I hope she does well. Again, I dont see her as a winner, but there are others to go before her I reckon...
Beverley - :yahoo:  wooohoooooo you go girl!! The woman gets better and I love her!
And then, the one, the only, the cutest little gnome currently on tv - Rhydian! Flamboyant, outrageous, OTT in the only way he knows - fantastic! Loved him, loved him, loved him!
WimbledonAce - November 5, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
Well I put my views on the other thread so you know what I think. Just have to comment on Louis though. Why does he persist with that drivel - we need another girl band in the charts? No we don't Louis!!!! And even if we did it WOULD NOT be Hope, get over it!!!! :tsk:
And I love Andy and his little lego man haircut  bless him!
Danni to win :ok:

We certainly DON'T need another girl band as you say. Girls Alound is more than enough and the awfual Spice Girls have reformed. I'd eb happy to never see a girl band again. Apart from the real soul ones going back decades and some fo the punk/rock ones form the 80s they are generally a loa dof crap. Hope aren't godo enough are they with those voices anyway.

Yeah Simon should have had the balls to let the public decide. I'll bet Hope came bottom, they were dire weren't they. They are too much for a family show and are realyl beign made out to be better than they are. Sure they work hard, sure they made somethign fo nothign becuase they were all otu fo the comp then came back as a group. That is tough, all credit to them, but we are at a stage in the competition now where that simply isn't enough. And I think they look a bit lost at times on stage, despite everyone sayign they are great personalities etc. They are being groomed and plugged to try and get a win I reckon. If a group wins the onyl one who deserves it is the chessy Same Difference. I bet that woudl piss on their firworks cos the judges don't knwo what to do with them for a record contract i reckon, but they sure have designs on Hope don't they? The next Spice Girls etc. Whooopie do!

FUTUREPROOF GOSSIP - I saw their exit interview and they said that they never got on with Hope and that they won't miss them. When they left Pheobe form Hope said "at least we'll get your bedroom now!" Never realised they did not get on. They also said that they wished they'd spoken up a bit more about things rather than go along with the guidance and choices of the show. Fair point. Now I don't think they are great, but I must say I admire their plucky spirirt. They say they are going to try and get better, continue and make records. They seem nice lads to me. And also they pointed out that they had doen well considering that they onyl got together weeks ago. As they said, manufactured bands tend to have months to gel, try things out change members etc. and I never thought of that so must have been hard for them. If you visit x-factor official site they have the interviews on there.
BIG-TODGER - November 6, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
I think the two groups were quite poor, though i'ld rate Futureproof slightly higher than Hope-but that's like saying i prefer a kick in the balls to having them both removed permanently.
And of the judges i reckon their all quite poor this year, with Sharon saying nothing worth saying, Louis Walsh-someone's over wound him so he keeps jabbering-but he he could explode live on air next week which might be exciting. Simon 'i'm not a closet homosexual' Cowell saying all his usual lines-ok he's usually right but his scripts are so predictable.
I kind of like Dannii the most, but anyone could do what they do, lets face it.
