Amazing how Fed's lead was slashed in 2 here after Paris. He had over 2000 points before Paris but Nadal's perf there as well the voiding of last year Shangai's results have taken cancelled many points leaving for the first time in years Nadal withing striking distance of Federer. The AO will be crucial for Fed keeping the number one spot.

Interesting times ahead.

Hi Tenez...You make an interesting point about the ATP voidding points from last years Shanghai. Why do they do that before the tournament starts?

I know there are some people who competed last year who won't compete this year, but I just don't understand why you lose ranking points that you haven't had a chance to defend yet... seems a little silly, but I could be missing some logic that someone here can pick me up on...

Hello Gav - Well I was surprised as well when I saw that this morning but i guess there is a logic as you say, we know that let's say Blake won't be able to defend, so in that respect they are simply forwarding the clock and it is fair somehow. Now both the race and the Entry are in synch. They woudl have been at the end of Shanghai but we can have them sinched now, so they might as well do it.
