Alisha - Say A Little Prayer
Andy - Stayin' Alive

FutureProof - If You Dont Know Me By Now
Hope - Lady Marmalade
Leon - Home
Nikki - My Heart Will Go On
Rydian - The Phantom Of The Opera
Same Difference - Breaking Free

I think Alisha will struggle big time with 'say a little prayer' unless she vastly improves from last week. Ryd 'Phantom of the Opera' could be interesting :D

Miss Suzi - October 25, 2007 03:27 PM (GMT)
 ....I thought it was going to be strictly come dancing Mo..

Dunno anything about the singers, but there's some great songs there:

Say a little prayer
Build me up buttercup
If you don't know me by now
Lady Marmalade
Phantom of the opera

why anyone would choose to sing My heart will go on is beyond me entirely......

:D ..yes but they don't sing do they... ;)

Perhaps we can have a separate thread on Sunday after the show.....

Dinks.....I believe Celine Dionne is the studio guest this week, with theme being movies. You can always turn the sound down for that song :D Hope Nikki does well though.

I love Build Me Up Buttercup....but its a group number

severe lack of TV means I won't be watching - hence why i don't know any of the people. But I understand if the theme is movies I suppose  I'm sure i saw someone last year do Lady Marmalade :hmm:

I don't think Eton Rd did Lady M in the end did they? I loved them by the way, fab boys :ok: Hope doing it is yet again so predictable!!
Bit worried about Andy this week! Can't wait for Build me up - love that song!
Think Phantom will steal the show, I love Phantom of the Opera, should be great!

Where di you get this Mo?

My thoughts:

Alisha - Say A Little Prayer - that's the sort of thing we need to see her do, but I think the song is bigger than her and she couldl struggle. Oh well, at least we get to see if she was worth keeping!

Andy - Stayin' Alive - what the Bee gees? Love the song, but how the hell is that miserable thing gonna do that one? I don't see it and I think the Bee Gees shoudl be left well alone as it's hard to replicate that falsetto.

Beverley - I Have Nothing - could work, very dramatic one though which si hard to pull off.

Daniel - Build Me Up Buttercup - Love the song (I have the orignal on vinyl you know! The Foundations) but I have never heard a cover fo it sound right. He'll have to up his gaem here to pull it off. And the Foundations were a group and their song was more for dancing to so hard to do a reall godo solo I'd say. Hope ti works.

Emily - I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman - oh dear :( Nuff said. Poor Emily. :(

FutureProof - If You Dont Know Me By Now - oh lord, please don't let them piss all over that brilliant soul classic. I hate Boy Band versions of that. Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes will not be pleased.

Hope - Lady Marmalade - NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! All Saints were bad enough, please please leave it to the Diva Labelle as it should be. Lady "Asda Econonmy Strawberry Jam" more like

Leon - Home - is that Simon and GArfunkels' song Home? Love ti if it is. Tricky but he'll pull that off. Hang on ...... is there another song called Home ? Is it Michael Buble? Well he can do that well, but will the audicence like it ? Mayeb someone knows who's song ti is?

Nikki - My Heart Will Go On - NOOOOOOO!!! Please, NOOOOOO!!! Too big a song, but she coudl do her own toned down thingy on it I suppose.

Rydian - The Phantom Of The Opera - oh yeah, that will work! :D Mind you I personalyl don't like that song and nto sure hwo popular ti will be.

Same Difference - Breaking Free - no idea who's song it is.

Anyway that's what i think. :)

Yeap.. I agree SB.... Falsetto is a bit tricky... but it is easier to pull off if the song has some tempo rythm like the the bee gees number ... you could get away with a squeak or two...

And my goodness , i know people love these power ballads .. but you've got to have some massive pipes on you to undertake songs by the like s of Celine Dion, Whitney houston, Mariah Carey, etc. The yardstick can make any flaws so glaring it's always risky... even those old popular jazz numbers can do that as well.

Say alittle prayer is a good song..I hope she can pull it off...

I'm not a girl , not yet a woman...isn't that britney spears.... hmmm..( I don't know what it did for Britney..you approach with caution on that..)

lady marmalade, I would generally stay away from..but she may well do it...

But with Celine being there I'm sure the nerves will be soo high as well...we'll see :)

Breaking Free - Same Difference's Song

I reckon ti si this. They were sayign last week that they were very High School Muscial - never heard fo them! But anyway

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tvkh29RKFRY

Might work for them but I'm nto impressed with this song, too cheesy for me. Then again they are cheesy so mayeb ti's a godo call. :)

What I think Leon is doing as I knwo he likes Micahel Buble

Home-Michael Buble

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fDQnkYwfNfk

I love Buble's voice, this song is a tad cheesy for me though. I prefer his swing. Leon has the voice but mu concern is that this song isn't too lively or big notey and he'll have to sing very nicely indeed. :)

He could be doing this though as this guy was big on American Idol

Chris Daughtry - Home

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iMUFhfp46zc

Did you see him? Was really good but got voted off very early!

...I only ever dip into American Idol now and again, so don't know Chris Daughtry. I too love Michael Buble's voice, just not over fond of his music, but love Home. On reflection, I am now looking forward tomorrow's show....lets hope we get some good performances and that the judges take more of a back seat than usual. If I could put Mrs O in the stocks and pelt her with tomatoes   I would as she is soo getting on my nerves this series. And don't get me started on her whiny voice. AND I have never seen her shopping in ASDA :argh:

WimbledonAce - October 26, 2007 06:59 PM (GMT)
I'm sure that Home is the Buble track that is Westlife's current single - little plug as usual for Louis and Simon!
High School Musical is a film that all the kids are into and I guess they have CDs with all the music on. I have never heard the song itself though.

dl04 - October 26, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
Bye Bye Emily....... that song sounded bad enough when Britney sang it. It's an awful song no matter how good your voice might be. It'll sound bad and OTT either way

Alisha's going to struggle too. Alisha has a nicotine voice it seems, unable to hold a note before becoming extremely raspy. This song requires an Aretha Franklin power pitch, which lets face ot only Aretha can deliver. Unless she can interpret it differently, she's going to be vulnerable too.

Andy  That falsetto will have to be right on the money or the song is lost. Could be good, but i dont even know if Andy has a decent enough falsetto anyway.......

Beverley- has the power for this song and suprising subtlety( having looked at her previous auditions). However this is a huge song, full of long notes that need to be sustained. Hopefully she'll do a good job, as i like Beverley :)

Daniel's song is very safe. It wont push him at all to be honest. If he does struggle, it'l really reflect on how good or bad his singing really is.

Futureproof are going to gush all over this song, i can tell  This song requires great personality which i didnt see last week

Hope get another chance to prove how tacky they are and completely cliche they are of every girl band going. It's too big a vocal for them, particular if they vocus on the more recent version( Christina A's verse is a hard act to follow). Expect strained vocals and plenty of horrid routines to compensate :sicky:

Leon, wel it cant get anyworse than last week roflmao I hope he keeps this song controlled and subtle, unlike the Westlife version. He realy needs to improve this week or he really should go,

Nikki's song choice is terrible. It's not a great song, Celine Dion is out of tune in the original and Nikki's voice is not brutal enough on big ballady numbers.

Rhydian will produce another good performance i suspect. This songs suits him down to the ground :D

Same difference i presume ae singing the song from High School musical. I hate that song btw, and they'll only piss further on the chips  roflmao

With those shiny jackets I thought he'd had to dress them on the cheap with Bacofoil. I was calling them Ovenproof! :D

I disagree with Leon at this stage - I think he has potential bt we'll see. And I liek Beverley too.

oh dear - I dont know that I want to watch now...

hate that Celine Dion song - and not fond of her either so theres a turn off right there and how utterly predictable for Hope doing Lady Marmalade - why doesnt Simon just do them back stage and get it over with, rather than the extended foreplay of drooling over them on stage - and dump them???

 Oh I Know! Sickening isn't it? What a bunch of slappers they are. And overrated to boot. There's onyl one good version of that song and that'll be Labelle's original. :ok:

They won't just murder it, they'll slowly torture it into a slow and painful death. :D

Oh yes that is one of my faves, luckily I have it on a Disco CD and I'm often youtube-ing it.

Alisha - Say A Little Prayer
Andy - Stayin' Alive
Beverley - I Have Nothing
Daniel - Build Me Up Buttercup
Emily - I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman
FutureProof - If You Dont Know Me By Now
Hope - Lady Marmalade
Leon - Home
Nikki - My Heart Will Go On
Rydian - The Phantom Of The Opera
Same Difference - Breaking Free

I think Alisha will struggle big time with 'say a little prayer' unless she vastly improves from last week.  Ryd 'Phantom of the Opera' could be interesting  :D

Dunno anything about the singers, but there's some great songs there:

Say a little prayer
Build me up buttercup
If you don't know me by now
Lady Marmalade
Phantom of the opera

why anyone would choose to sing My heart will go on is beyond me entirely......

Because Celine will be there plugging here new album!

My thoughts:

Alisha should have gone last week......however.

Alisha: could do well, but i don't think she has any power in her voice and her being there was at the expense of someone better.

Andy: Great song, but can't see how he'll do it.

Beverley: Should be right on the money :ok:

Daniel: again great song, but i am intrigued to see what he can do with it.

Emily: Not a great song, and i think she's very weak anyhow.....

Futureproof: Amazing song, and i reckon they'll do it justice.

Hope: What can you say? i reckon they''ll do well (although not fussed on them)

Leon: BETTER NOT murder Mr Buble's song, or i'll have to give him a slap.....but seriously, i think he'll kill it, just like pondlife have.

Nikki:I reckon she can pull this off as long as she thinks she can, confidence is her problem methinks.

Rhydian: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should be amazing (I reckon he wins the show anyway, if he can prove versatility to other types of music)

Same Difference: High School Musical me up, could be very good and i'm sure it will get the teenies buying it.

My opinions are my own and are copyrighted as such......... roflmao

SuperBRAT - October 28, 2007 04:29 PM (GMT)
My thoughts, I'll start with the worst

Absolutely Dire: :sicky:

Andy - I knew it would not work, what an embarrassment! Tried desperately to show there is life in him when there is clearly more where a nucear missile has hit. He's average, diction is awful, sounds more Daniel O'Donnel than a serious pop act. Dancing was shit, he sucked the life from a classic. Should never have been in the show. Wish he'd gone but knew he wouldn't be cos they like his patehetic puppy eyes don't they? :sicky: He makes me sick, hair like a badly applied wig. :D Stayin Alive? I sincerely hope not :kpow:

Daniel - e  mbarrasing, that 'whoo" ing to make it lively, and when he spun round and went "uuuh'! I thought he'd pulled a scrotum injury. Didn't work, dad at a wedding that was. Felt sorry for him as he is better than that, but still not that good, boring but better than Andy. Wrong song as predicted, and i love that song too. God I felt embarrassed for him.

Bad but just bearable:

Alisha - rather lifeless; I like her but she's now proved her medicority. Just isn't up there, lacks individulaity and identity. I'd have sent her home from the two left; she's had her chance. I don't see potential compared to other acts. She can sound great to start with, but can't get up for the chorus and sounds nasally to me. Kimberley should have stayed.

Emily - terrible song, cheesy in the circumstances, sang flat. Likeable and that's getting votes but sympathy should not be determining things. Was dubious throughout bootcamp; Sharon made a mistake picking her over the girl with braces IMO. She's not ready, assuming she ever is.

Average:

Futureproof - well it sounded Ok, but it wasn't great and one guy was singing out of time. And I cannot work out what 3 of them are doing exacty. You coudl tell that this song wasn't one they liked ro were familiar with, no emotion and it's such an emotional song.

Hope -highly overrated by the judges. Appeared to have excessive backing or some machine that made them mix better. When they did their solos it was average to poor, Pheobe was screwing up her diction and mumbling. And that woman who does the splits has a weak voice and is just a show off. They made a lot of backing singeresque noise, oohs, aahs, da-daaas, but that was karaoke and doesn't make them complete singers; dancing is nothing great either. Lady Marmelade? Lady Marmite more like, bitter and stodgy and vile in huge doses.

Good :D Tricky to decide who is good, very good ...... try to be unbiased.

Same Difference - very good at what they do. Cheesy Butlins style but sing well/harmonise. The guy is excellent and flawless, perfect for Steps or stage, his grabs crack me up though! : She can screech a bit, they do perfrom too. Worked well, but I don't like that kind of thing. .

Beverley - LOVE her, but she's not quite up there with the great soul singers; I've seen better on past x-factor. I do like her energy and personality and that came through. Song a just a tad too big for her but she handled it well and I enjoyed it. I really hope she can get better.

Nikki: well it took guts  Despite my thinking her voice was limited she is a real singer and uses it cleverly; knows how to handle a song. Loads of emotion and personality too, people relale to her, I do like her. Very nice but I don't think it was as great as they made it out to be.

Very good:

Leon: as I thought, he has a lovely voice for that genre and I really enjoyed it. Amazing that that voice comes out when he sings when you here his accent and quiet voice. He does need more confidence. And it will be better than whatever 'Pondlife" as Stef calls them :D can do. He could make records in the swing genre. Eats awful Ray for breakfast.

Bloody Excellent:

Rhydian: YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, fab, what a perfromer. I hated that song until now! Captured the drama brilliantly, worthy of Lloyd' Webber's musical itself. What a voice, such expression! He's not asshole at all, he is just confident and I like that. That cheeky grin he does when he's finished gets me every time, he's intelligent and handles himself well too. I want him now  ... do you think he will marry me? roflmao Sod it we'll just have sex!

Next week's wish list - pleeeeaaasseeee get rid of the horendous puppy eyed big fringed Daniel O' Donnel soundalike. Cheers :ok: If not then I don't mind if we ditch Emily, Alisha or Hope. I think Hope coudl make the final though.

Sorry thought he murdered one of my fave songs, i think Ray was much better.

Niki: Very good effort at a tough song, looked amazing too!!

Rhyd: WINNER!!!!!!!

Beverley: Very good, think she's the only threat th Nik & Rhyd really, the rest were ranging from Dire to passable, i STILL wish Kimberley had stayed as i think she was Sharons only hope of any success.

Sorry I thought Ray was a bit crap tbh. :)

I agree, I think Rhyd is the winner, BUT you know what these shows are like. NIcki and Bev - well, the show has a habit of voting off older women, and older black women, liek my fave brenda aos not sure how much of a threat they are. Then again the youngsters are crap. I think the groups have a good chance this year.

All us older larger ladies are stunning ;) :D

it's just that every time we discuss singers, I compare them to Brenda as she was the standard for me and I don't think she's bene bettered by any singer, balck soul singer or otherwise. Liek Beverely is good but not as good as Brenda. Mo's always saying "let ti go SB' :D
