Title: Federer vs Berrer
chetanpv - October 23, 2007 04:01 PM (GMT)
It looks like Federer is playing his first match now?
Mann it would be really tough to come back and play a match after the loss on sunday.
BTW is there a live link for this tournament? I remember watching it on eurosport last year when there was those funky line calls against Srichapan in the final set tie-break during the SFs.

I got the link..
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/tennis/Boom Boom Berrer to ....... :P
Dinky Jo - October 23, 2007 04:08 PM (GMT)
awesome! cheers for that Chet...... :ok:
I must admit I didn't even realise Fed was playing today - good job you're around to keep track of his schedule for me :P

Morning DJ.
Unfortunately streaming video is blocked where I work  .
Fed seems to be winning comfortably. The semis against Nalby is what we'll need to pay attention to.

yeah, I did notice that they're drawn to meet one another in the semis.
I'll look forward to Fed's revenge :P

Is the live link working?
Nick Havoc - October 23, 2007 04:23 PM (GMT)
You might not want to see it, anyway, Chet. Fed is just about to pull a breadstick out of the oven . . .
('course, he did that against Nalbandian in the first set, too. )
Tenez - October 23, 2007 04:37 PM (GMT)
chetanpv - October 23, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
Wow..Berrer is 5-2 up in the second set..
Nick Havoc - October 23, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Maybe this will go like the Nalby match??

Could be..
Scoreline is exactly the same. Berrer takes the second set.
Nick Havoc - October 23, 2007 05:22 PM (GMT)
But now it is 4-2 Fed in the third, with Fed yet to drop a point on serve in the set.

Of course, as soon as I say that, he goes 15-30 down on his next service game.
But Fed holds for a 5-2 lead.
Dinky Jo - October 23, 2007 05:26 PM (GMT)
:phew: i thought that was all gonna be a bit embarrassing for Fed then.....
chetanpv - October 23, 2007 05:28 PM (GMT)
Berrer double faulted on break point..
Looks like fed is not motivated to play so soon after a masters event. He should have skipped this tournament and played Paris instead.

Well, it's not over yet, but Fed is about to serve at 5-3 in the third.

It's his home tourney, though. I think he really likes to play here.

Fed wins :yahoo:
i was never worried
I do hope he plays Paris though - it always has a very depleted field, which is a shame.....
chetanpv - October 23, 2007 05:35 PM (GMT)
I doubt Federer will play Paris esp if he gets to the SF or finals this week.
Tenez - October 23, 2007 11:12 PM (GMT)
I actually think he is going to lose in the next round. Frankly the way he played in the second set, I thought he woudl lose there as well but he certainly wanted to give his fans something to cheer up. Next round shoudl be good odds to bet against.
greasepipe - October 24, 2007 07:36 AM (GMT)
I reckon he will try to win this one to ensure the no.1 position. And if he manage to do so, he won't play Paris.
He won't give more than 90% this week, that's for sure though

He is going to play Paris given that he missed Japan. He was also interviewed saying that he is fresher and ready to go the distance.
:ok:

Tenez I agree FED was playing poorly in the second set.
But he started the set with the relaxing mode on after winning easily the first..
He underestimate the fight back attitude of Berrer -who is currently having his best season among the top players at 27 -two weeks ago he was in the semi at Moscow after beating Misha- and Berrer played this second out of pressures but still believing that he was possible to have the big scalp (might also because he is a lefty..th elefty they believe more against FED roflmao )
So the second was half half in my view: Half the relaxing mode of FED half the raise of Berrer playing really well..
The beginning of the third was really the good part of the match: IMO both they were playing well..And there who manage to win at the end. ;) ..
Final remarks:
1) FED will try IMO to finish this event and then he will try as well to have a round or two in Paris..
2) FED will always try to win Basel: This is a very special event for him is like Barcelona for Rafa: This is a home event and when in the past he was skipping it this was due to injuries..For him this event count a lot IMO.
PS: I watch the match in T..I will be there the week end so   to see live may fav player and big champ..Go FED at least until the semi
Tenez - October 24, 2007 08:41 AM (GMT)
Maybe you right TV. Either he plays his best here and plays a couple of rounds in Paris or the other way around. Nalby is here in Basle so he might want a revenge or simply rest.
Once thing for sure is that I will be extremely disappointed if he misses Paris given that he promised he 'd play last year after the fiasco of having almost all top seeds withdrawing. I m really hoping he has one word as we would expect from him.

It would be nice if Fed had a bit of cushion pointswise coming into the Australian Open. After the AO Rafa has a lot more points to defend until Wimbledon.
