Description: Tuesday, October 16, 2007

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 07:37 PM (GMT)
Chela v Murray coming up.

Haas lost the first set against Monaco. :(

Come on Tommy!

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)
I'm looking forward to the Murray match, which is about to start.

Go Andy!

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)
Tommy is being his usual frustrating self! He was playing really well at first and then lost focus. V annoying especially with end of year to think about!
Going to watch Andy now so have had to abandon Tommy

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 07:47 PM (GMT)
Andy won the toss and elected to serve. Interesting, considering he considers the return the best part of his game.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
Tommy now has to hold serve to stay in the second set.

That's where he produced an appalling service game in the first set, so let's hope he doesn't repeat that here!

Andy to start now.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
Andy holds to love.

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
I'm so upset :(

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
5-5 :phew:

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 07:58 PM (GMT)
Tommy holds serve for 5-5 in the second. :phew:

Andy is really going for it on Chela's service game here. He missed the first two points going for winners, but now it's 30-30. He should have a good chance to manufacture some break points as the match goes on. No luck here though, despite some great defense - 40-30 to Chela.

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
Maybe a tie break - I feel bilious!!! :sicky:

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 08:02 PM (GMT)
Match point :(

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
And there's the first break point, courtesy of a Chela DF. He wins the point - but now Chela is challenging the out-call ... and it was way in! :o

But Chela dumps a ball in the net, and Murray takes the break at 2-0.

Meanwhile, Tommy has another nightmare service game, it seems -- he is facing three match points. :( :( :(

And it's over. :( So much for Shanghai, eh?

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
It's all over - v disappointing. Andy's doing well though. B) Too many Argies I reckon!

I know, it's times like these I really want to smack him! Opportunity missed yet again!

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
Andy is looking really sharp here. He hasn't conceded a single point on serve in his two service games.

I hope he keeps it up.

WimbledonAce - October 16, 2007 08:06 PM (GMT)
Time to go cheer on Andy, see u later!

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:08 PM (GMT)
Great lob from Andy -- and we're at 30-30 on the Chela serve again. And here's a chance to go 4-0 up!

chetanpv - October 16, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
Murray is steamrolling the Argentine. This match is done. Nadal next..

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
First break point is missed, but here's another one --- and Andy leads 4-0! :o

Admittedly, Chela's first serve seems to have deserted him - but that shouldn't take anything away from Murray's high standard.

Strange challenge from Murray there after his first serve is called out --- no more challenges left. And he concedes the first point on his serve - a DF. :) Then he holds to 15.

It's not over yet --- although the way Murray is looking, I can't see him giving anything to Chela. He wants to win *every* point.

And Nadal's got to beat Baghdatis first ...

Can Chela save his honor and hold here? 30-30 again ...

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:17 PM (GMT)
Bagel point for Murray! :o

I was hoping he'd come through here, but I didn't expect it to be quite as easy as it's looking at the moment ... he's on fire!

Set point saved though - deuce.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:19 PM (GMT)
On game point, Chela misses yet another first serve --- and Murray just eats up that second serve. That drop shot set him up nicely as well, and he can put the ball away into the open court to get another set point!

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:22 PM (GMT)
Good first serve from Chela there to save set point. Coming in, the Argentine sets up another game point . He makes another first serve, and eventually holds serve for the first time. Murray leads 5-1 and will now try to serve out the set.

He shouldn't be too disappointed with missing those set points, I think. He's still in total control. And here he is 30-0 up ... two good serves away from winning the set.

He misses a forehand coming in behind his serve, caught in no-man's land ... 30-15. Chela chases down a dropshot and Murray hits a cross-court forehand into the net ... 30-30.

Ace! 40-30, here's another set point.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:23 PM (GMT)
GSM Murray 6-1.

Less than half an hour for this opening set. :o

chetanpv - October 16, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
Murray is looking like the player he was at the beginning of the year. Hope he challenges the "Big 3".

All of Brad Gilbert's pupils have reached no.1.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:27 PM (GMT)
Sublime drop shot from Murray wins him the first point of the second set ... and the nightmare is continuing for the Argentine, who DFs to go 0-30 down straight away.

Valiant battle from Chela --- his shot gets called out, but it's overruled (correctly). He can't be happy about this, as this shot now really *is* out, and he is facing 3 break points.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:28 PM (GMT)
He still can't get his serves in, and Murray doesn't even have to hit a shot here to take the first break point. :o

chetanpv - October 16, 2007 08:30 PM (GMT)
If Murray can keep up this form and Nadal beats Baggy, we may another classic like the match at the AO this year.

If he can continue where he left off with his injury, I think he has a good chance to get up there with the current top 3. Reaching #1 ... well, it's so tough these days, but I think he should have a shot some day. Right now, he has to fight off a break point though, the first time he's been troubled on serve --- and he saves it. Deuce.

Go Andy!

I agree. If he can keep up this form, he may have a chance to get revenge for that defeat!

That was a great match - it seems like ages ago, but it was less than a year.

Andy holds serve for 3-1 in the second serve. The pressure is back on Chela to hold.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:41 PM (GMT)
Sensational stuff from Andy there, running down a lob and hitting a winner from it. :yahoo:

hey Chet  Good to see you here again :ok:

It'd be great to have a Murray - Nadal re-match, especially with Murray in this kind of form

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:48 PM (GMT)
Murray broke for 4-1, but now faces two break points - and Chela takes the first. :(

Still, Andy is 4-2 up with a break in the second here, so not a big problem. He's got to stay concentrated, though.

Miss Suzi - October 16, 2007 08:49 PM (GMT)
I'd say the injury layoff did give murray some rest... He does look fresh and ready...to roll..

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:50 PM (GMT)
Great touch at the net from Andy there to make it 30-15 - but he goes long here, and Chela has two chances to shorten the lead to 4-3.

Hi DJ,

Good to see you too. Was quite busy at work for some time. Had a nice (or should I say nasty) holiday watching the US Open though.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
Andy's gone off the boil here a bit --- he has to fight for his service game, has game point --- and double faults!

And a big forehand from Chela sets up break-back point. Andy doesn't want to let him get back into the match here!

chetanpv - October 16, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)
Looks like we jinxed him.BP for Chela.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)
Chela's return off Andy's second serve is just out - and Andy makes no mistake on the next point, smashing the ball out of Chela's reach. Game point - and he takes it with an ace. 5-3; now just one game away from the match.

mightyjeditribble - October 16, 2007 08:59 PM (GMT)
0-30 ... two points for the match ...
