Title: CC Awards categories

trisco - October 15, 2007 10:43 PM (GMT)
Hey folks,

Looking for some help and input for categories for a CC awards 2007 special for the mag.
If people could suggest categories then I can put these forwards,
If we have categories such as best match, best player male and female, best tournament etc. it will not be multiple choice, it will be open to the person to decide on their own best..
that way it is open for the end of the season as will not be published until Xmas.
Categories I think would be good so far..
Best Male Player
Best Female Player
Best Tournament
Best Match

feel free to add peeps, your help is appreciated.

Cheers

Trisco

Quote of the Year, maybe???

MrInvisible - October 30, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
Cry-baby/drama-queen/whinger of the year (aka the Serena Williams award!).
Related to above - most theatrical injury

Villain of the year
Worst bit of slam scheduling (as this has been a hot topic at various times)
Best newcomer

Best over 30s player
Worst choke job/snatching defeat from jaws of victory
Best comeback in match
Best comeback from injury (I'd nominate Kiefer here)

Best Brit that isn't called Murray.
Most disappointing player
Most amusing photo of the year

'Fairytale of the year'

Think that'll do for now

MrInvisible - October 30, 2007 01:49 PM (GMT)

You slate Serena for all the bad awards, yet you think Keifer had a better comeback?

Are you ill?

MrInvisible - October 30, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
Nah I wouldn't put Kiefer's comeback above Serena's - just Kiefer's is fresher in the memory, and he was out for a long long time with v bad injury.

I have a lot of admiration for Serena (and her sister), and she brings a lot to the game...but Liam...you cannot deny her drama-queen antics got a little over the top this year...

Is there a bigger drama-queen in tennis right now?

Queen Justine - October 30, 2007 03:25 PM (GMT)
Who had the "luckiest shots"? :P

everyone knows i dont follow ATP closely, it shouldnt surprise anyone  QJ, would you give Serena best comeback or Venus? Im torn between the two, although Lindsays recent form after giving birth deserves a mention too :)

Serena's comeback winning the Australian Open at the start of the year was impressive! :ok:

It's just a pity she had to go and spoil it all by being such a sourpuss at the remaining Grand Slams... :bs:

i know, she seemed so happy and gracious at AO, but then i think she expected a bit too much of herself and the grumps set in when she never delivered :( at least her commitment hasnt been in question this season, she wouldnt be half as arsed as she had been if these losses were last year :)

We should have a category for a player who has RETIRED this year.

Retriement of the year OR Player we will mis most? One for men and one for women of course.

a PERSONALITY award for a player who entertains and amuses us on and off court.
