The Draw

:) I would say its probably the best chance for anyone wanting to make a statement before the year end championship to go ahead and do so.
With Justine Henin Officially Crowned WTA year end number one..she should be relaxed and easily come through her draw. A potential clash with Jelena again.... I don't think Amelie has anything to say about that, Nicole Vaidisova maybe.....

Without Hingis...Patty should be home favourite.. not sure what test she will be for Serena, but you can never tell.. There is still the potential of Serena running into Elena(away from home) and Kuznetsova all over again. Its still the usual suspects, Jelena ,Ivanovic, Kutznetsova, Serena or Justine. Justine may well just pick up that ninth title... :)

I think Serena may just move into the top 5 should she have an exceptionally good run here... that's hoping my math is right.....

T01 - October 15, 2007 09:39 AM (GMT)
Yea, Justine and Jelena in the same half once again!

All Serena has to do is get to the QF to be ranked 5th. Would Elena have something to say about that? Or Patty, will she find her form again to dish out bagles and breadsticks- guess not!!

Hope that Amelie can win a match or two.

nice openers for Vaidisova and Tati...tough draw here in Zurich. Nicole is up v. Jankovic in Rnd. 2 while Golovin draws Ivanovic next.

serena tussles with patty schnyder tomorrow in more Rnd. 1 matches.

With The Cheat out :D we can look forward to some gamesmanship-free tennis although with Serena playing we should get some juicy quotes! roflmao

Oh yes, the Peer incident last year

Peer was rightfully pissed off...............

Serena vs Patty should be so much easier for Serena on a fast indoor court like Zurich. Patty can stay with Serena on clay with the higher bounce and the extra time her huge swings, but on this kind of court, Patty's basically going to be in defense mode.

Golovin won i see  3 straight losses for Kirilenko. She really doesnt lose without it being in a streak :(

Peer was about to hit a serve and as she hit it, Maria wasnt even holding her racquet and held her hand up. Peer's serve was out, so maria lied to the umpire and said she was prepared to hit the return(despite the replay clearly showing she wasnt) and Peer lost the point when they should've played a let

Obviously nothing major, but very dissapointing and unsportsmanlike from Maria

I know, it's amazing...

Oh and I don't hate her, i just don't like her! :)

Hate is a very strong word in my vocabulary and as much as I don't care for her too much, I definitely don't hate her... :ok:

Meanwhile Amelie is into a final set with Danilidou!

vivahate - October 16, 2007 04:28 PM (GMT)
wow, some of you kids can be harsh

although my bf can't stand Maria either...

but Amelie is serving for the match 5-3.

and Patty will serve for set 1 at 5-0 up!!!! :yikes:

Miss Suzi - October 16, 2007 05:25 PM (GMT)
Serena was not in it all....... 6-0 , 3-0 retired... Patty must just be soo happy for a home win.....

Hope Serena can still play YEC though.... cause she has qualified...

vivahate - October 16, 2007 05:39 PM (GMT)
Serena ret'd. injured?? i'm shocked

outside of a Slam, as if she was playing back-to-back weeks :P

as for YEC, i'm sure it will come down to desire, and less where she's at physically.

liam_valid - October 16, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
The poor cow cant string together 2 tournaments without some drama happening :( :( Shes getting even more dramatic than Mary

dl04 - October 16, 2007 05:59 PM (GMT)
Serena :( Gave it a shot, but was just suffering too badly with that leg. Couldnt move at all and only won 10 points, such was her injury.

I hope Patty doesnt think she's just had some heroic win though roflmao

Well done Momo, got a win at last  Danilidou had her usual cramping/injury debacles but was stil piling on the pressure deep in the third. Momo looked like she'd won a Slam after that match, obviously thrilled to get a much needed win. Could still see her going out to Bondarenk though

T01 - October 16, 2007 07:33 PM (GMT)
Well, Serena will have to wait to get back into the top 5 now, till the YEC atleast! Well done Amelie, needed that!

I just want to see a good all round strong play from everyone at the YEC...
cause the round robin introduces some elements of luck..at least if everyone plays well... we'll all be happy :)
