I'm glad. She has been injured pretty much the whole year, and should have stopped playing months ago, as to take some time off, get over the injury, rest up, and then come back fit. No quotes from her give any indication that she plans to retire, which is a good sign.
Hopefully she just uses the rest of this year to get over the injury, rest and come back strongly next year.

A wise decision , she was almost becoming  a journey woman ..... I know she likes the early season tournaments...so it can be all bad....
A few others who I think should join her, include Amelie Mauresmo, Momo is quite lost at the moment...nothing is working well... so should be appropriate...
Patty Schynder..... you know when Patty is tired...the whole world has to side with her or it gets erratic... I just want to see her rest and come back to being the spoiler she used to be....
Maria Sharapova and Anna chakvetadze.... For Maria I guess its more down lack of match practise but unfortunately none of the other girls on tour are allowing her to use them as fodder for her practise... and frankly, I don't know how much time she spends on court by herself training regardless of her shoulder injuries...
But both Maria and Anna are likely to be YEC contenders..but watching Anna at the Kremlin cup against Safina.... she couldn't move, wasn't running balls down well... Chakvetadze's game is all about returning balls , defensive and then trying to pounce on you when she gets the chance.... and if you'r are tired  , how can you keep chasing balls down... completely out of sorts...

Oh I think they will both qualify but I really can't see either of them being contenders at the YEC to be pefectly honest...

It's a shame for Martina, i think she really hoped for a positive 2007 after her sensational comeback last year. Unfortunately injury has ruined her season ultimately. Also, it's becoming increasingly obvious how ineffectual martina's game is nowadays against the consistency of the big hitters in the game. She still has all the guile and the wizadry, but it only gets her so far now. The Big hitters are punching big holes through her game......
I hope she can regain her motivation and fitness for 08, i think she could have a consistent place in the top 20 again, but i dont know far she's prepared to go anymore for that elite place in tennis. It seems impossible now that she'll ever be a top 3 player again, so i dont know what incentives tennis is bringing for her now. I hope she still carries on and still provides us with plenty of charisma and entertainment, but i'm doubtful of a hingis recovery :(
