WTF? roflmao

As i say, Venus is playing and she's comitted to playing matches. People would have slagged her off just as easily if she hadnt play at all in Europe or in Asia, so it's a double edged sword. I'm just happy she's on tour, healthy and playing well, which is something which Venus hasnt been able to do for a while so i cant complain :D

She plays Pin next. Venus is going to beat her serve into the ground ;)

I'm always happy when Venus is playing, so who cares who she's playing :D

There's plenty of top players playing the Top Tier tournaments to appease you two anyway, so why do you give a crap anyways?

Anyway QJ, i thougt you disliked Venus anyway, so you shouldnt really be bothered anyway

BTW what kind of comment is ' if that's the only way she can win a tournament apart from Wimbledon then that's what she has to do!'

Way to understate a GS title

I don't have a problem with Venus, I am not her number one fan but she is a great player!

I am just disappointed she has decided to play a bunch of Tier III and IVs...

If all that is left of Venus' tennis ambition is to collect fat appearance fees and beat journeywoman of the WTA tour then fair play to her but it just seems such a waste of talent...

dl04 - October 12, 2007 07:04 PM (GMT)
Choka you appear to be questioning Venus's commitments because she's played a few lower Tier events. It's hardly as though she does it regulary, in fact it's the first time she's ever done this. She has nothing to prove choka, she's the Wimby champ, she isnt obliged to play all over Europe just to gain brownie points off the WTA

She plays where she feels is a good oppurtunity for her to get some good matches and just to be competitve. I doubt she cares whether that's a tier 1 or a tier 2.

She's enjoying tennis which i think is nice for her after all her injury hells of the past couple of seasons :)

Yeah but how does she expect to get any competitive matches when she is playing people like teeny tiny Camille Pin world ranked 85... :yikes:

Well Pin came Sharapova a tough match at the Aussie, so she's still solid competition......

I dont know why it's such a big deal, at least she's playing and not sat at home waiting for the YEC's

Well without getting too deeply involved in the merits or otherwise of Pin, the bottom line is that winning tournaments by beating journey women of the tour is hardly impressive. And if Venus has nothing to prove, then why not show up at the Tier I and II events?

I understand what you're saying choka, and yes i do agree she could've played at least one big tier event, but it doesnt really matter in the big scale of things. It's the end of the year, the season is drawing to a close so i cant really begrudge Venus playing her way through the Asian tournaments. It's not as though Venus needs big match competiton to win big events anyway ;)

Anyway, hopefully she'll be in Madrid, so that's one of the biggest events of the year right? :D

It really wasn't a great three weeks in Asia, one win, a bad final defeat having had match points against the then world number 33 and now a semi loss to the world number 49...

I am sure Venus will make the YEC but hasn't been entirely convincing for me the last few weeks...

I thought I'd bring up the Venus fans' template:

"Oh well, onto the next tournament" :P

which I must say is much better and more respectful than Serena's
which is:

"She only played at 20% and she was injured"

Wise_Analyst - October 13, 2007 11:47 AM (GMT)
Pennetta's my second favourite player. Glad to see her results gradually improving. She'll never be any better than a solid top 20 player, but she's certainly better than 49 - as shown by the win today, even though Venus only seems to bring her A game to Slams. She should be favourite for the final now (Yan's the one who trounced Ana in Montreal and I know nothing about Chan  ) but it's been a good week regardless. Forza Flavia

Yan and Chan are just going into a deciding set.
