Title: England are out!!!
Description: England 0 Portugal 0 (PENS: 2-4)

Another mildly dramatic exit for the england team, with Wayne Rooney's harsh sending off, Beckham crying like a prat when he was taken off, and a rash of missed penalties in the resultant shootout.

This match, in my opinion, showed that the majority of England fans and experts haven't a clue what they're talking about. Yet again Gerrard and Lampard were very poor for the majority of the match as they have been all tournament, while Hargeaves (who England 'fans' loved to hate) was tremendous and was the glue that stuck the team together with ten men.

In the cold light of day, this has to be said - England do not possess a team of world beating superstars. the only player in the England squad who is a world beateris Wayne Rooney, and he was used wrongly due to Sven's squad choice.

Steven Gerrard, as I personally have thought for year's looks good in a Liverpool shirt at times, but at the very top level he has done nothing, and no matter what people say, he is not in the world class bracket. Neither is Frank Lampard. We had a lame duck in Beckham on the right wing, and a makeshift left winger in Joe Cole.

Our back four are very good, Gary Neville is ageing but solid, Ashley Cole is one of the world's best left backs, and Terry and Ferdinand are a great central pairing in defence when they are totally focused.

At the moment I would suggest, if all of the teams at the world cup are playing their best football, there are 8 teams better than us (Germany, Argentina, Holland, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, France and Spain). We should be happy to have got to the quarters!

Oh, and Beckham has quit as England captain. Surely the captaincy had to go to John Terry, if it goes to Gerrard I can't see things improving!

All I can say is that it was a sad pathetic perfromance really. But I was not surprised. :(

It is all very well saying Rooney's sending off was harsh, and it was to a degree as the Portugese players started it, BUT he clearly did kick the opposition in the BALLS - with a studded boot :o His temprament has always been suspect and he should not have done that now. When it came to penalities it was a shambles. Did we have ANYONE capable of getting one avaialable? Terrible, absolutely terrible.
But it is ALWAYS the same old story.

John McEnroe was saying that people should not be slating Heman for losing to Federer, but they should really slate England if they lost to Portugal, as they were the favourites to win and had the abiltity to win if they tried. Great comments I think, it might be sad, but England have got to stop blamign other factors fo rtheir defeats and look within. I expect that is why Beckham has retired, pure embarrassment. Sven shoudl have retired if eh wasnt; due to already. What a useless tw*t he is. Oh well, it's back to the box for the falt pack team for another 4 years. roflmao
