mightyjeditribble - October 8, 2007 10:35 AM (GMT)
The seeds are
1. Davydenko
2. Youzhny
3. Murray
4. Mathieu
5. Safin
6. Starace
7. Tursunov
8. Kohlschreiber
Projected quarterfinals if the seeds go through:
Davydenko-Safin
Murray-Tursunov
Mathieu-Starace
Youzhny-Kohlschreiber
The upper half of the draw is much, much more interesting than the lower half. Davydenko will hope to consolidate his position at number 4 in the race, play well in his home event and move closer to guaranteeing his place in Shanghai. Andy will want to consolidate his return after his good results last week; he faces a tough opener against Korolev. Safin is back from his wrist injury and his slightly gaga trip to Tibet, so who knows what to expect from him?
I hope that either Youzhny or Kohly come through to the final from the lower half of the draw.

Dinky Jo - October 9, 2007 05:36 PM (GMT)
I didn't think Marat was planning to play for the rest of the season  maybe the high altitude scrambled his brains

Yeah, but then, when he decided to chicken out abandon his ill-advised trip to Tibet, he said he was going to try and be ready at least for Madrid.
All we can hope is that perhaps the trip restored some sense of perspective to him, and he decided he should go and enjoy winning again. But I think that may be too much to ask for.

No real upsets today --- yes, Tursunov is a seed going out, but it was against Stepanek.
Good win for Andy against Korolev. Next up is Tipsarevic I think.
Kohly through to the QF.
Dinky Jo - October 10, 2007 10:40 PM (GMT)
but i like Tursy
Good win for Youzhny :ok: i hope he can do well here  (not ahead of Marat of course..... ;) )
Federer-Williams - October 11, 2007 07:15 AM (GMT)
Tipsarevic is quite a tough player so Murray had better be playing well!
He is though :P so it's all good
vivahate - October 11, 2007 01:36 PM (GMT)
well Youzhny and Murray are both out.

come on Marat! bloody win something
liam_valid - October 11, 2007 03:43 PM (GMT)
this is so frustrating, Safin keeps getting close on the Andreev serve with no results, yet Andreev has only had 2 bps and has converted them both :banghead:

Marat. :(
Misha :(
Andy :( :(
Wow. Bad day for the seeds.
The QF line-up is
Davydenko - Andreev
Tipsarevic - Stepanek
Serra - Mathieu
Kohlschreiber - Berrer
It's interesting that three out of the four QF matches are played between players of the same nationality.
vivahate - October 12, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
the first 2 encounters look like the better ones on paper, and i would tip the tipsarevic/stepanek match-up as the more interesting of those two...
and as for you Marat, the second to last man to beat nadal on clay, but still
Dinky Jo - October 12, 2007 07:14 AM (GMT)
bugger - Marat will lose some points here now :(
a truly truly rubbish day for the seeds though
Miss Suzi - October 12, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
 not too surprised ..... I know of a few ATP players like Marat who can take a cue from martina hingis and call it anearly season...... :) a little rest does wonders for the body and mind... especially before the warm and humid aussie season starts.....
